Integration with Kubernetes and flexibility improve our application deployment process
The logging could be improved; there's currently no intuitive way to filter logs on the Google console, especially for individuals who are not familiar with query languages. Our non-technical users find it difficult to access logs. Additionally, the user interface could be more user-friendly and intuitive compared to our previous experience with AWS.

Improves efficiencies, has encryption, and great mission-critical customer support
Previously we had an amateur solution where we were managing on our own data center but we had the management in-house. It was a strategic move to give people who were more competent and with business focus other core initiatives. It was a strategic outsource model. The equipment we were using was out date and at the end of its life cycle, we had to make some transitions, do a hardware replacement, or move on. We moved on to this solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is simple to use on the web, and makes things easy for a software developer."
"I like it due to the fact that it can be accessed from everywhere and it can be used for every kind of solution you need."
"The automatic sync between my mobile device data and photos to the cloud is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature of Google Cloud is its flexibility."
"It's a perfect tool for startups."
"Most recently, we implemented a data science agent for querying data using natural language, beyond that, it primarily relates to the cost effectiveness of data warehouse running costs versus competitors such as Snowflake."
"My customers appreciate all the features that Google Cloud has to offer. They are looking for solutions for computing engines, storage, web hosting, and various other needs. The most useful feature depends on their specific requirements and how they plan to utilize Google Cloud. Each customer has their own unique set of needs and the Google Cloud provides a range of options to meet those needs."
"The customer service team for this solution is very knowledgeable."
"The solution has encryption which we did not have before."
"Once we made the move to this solution, we received efficiencies, 100%, 200%, even up to 1000%, depending on some processes."

Cons

"My only concern is that a number of the offerings are built on their own proprietary technologies which means means that, with respect to the offerings in Google Cloud, it's difficult to have a path to migrate to other cloud providers."
"There are issues with stability. There may be capacity issues at the time but it's hard to guess what the root cause is."
"There are occasionally things which are inconvenient. For example, uploading pictures or files then requires you to transfer to a different folder."
"The solution could be cheaper."
"The solution could improve by being less expensive."
"An area of improvement would be in the managing of accounts in terms of what we are using for memory, availability, and monitoring."
"I feel that the Google product is incomplete with regard to internal communications. It is an area that needs some improvement."
"Currently, in my region, they don't offer many services as they have just started. They need to wait on that."
"Our account representative was inexperienced, they could improve on how they are managing accounts."
"Our account representative was inexperienced, they could improve on how they are managing accounts."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's not really an expensive solution, but it would be better if there were more flexibility in the pricing model."
"We approached Google Cloud with certain cost assumptions but were surprised to find that our actual expenses were higher than expected. Initially, we had anticipated spending a set amount on the solution, but in reality, we ended up spending more than that. It would be helpful to have greater transparency and educational documentation on the cost-related aspects of Google Cloud."
"Google Cloud is quite expensive, and I rate it at seven out of ten."
"It has a monthly subscription. The customers pay based on the usage."
"The service is cheap and I give it a seven out of ten for the cost."
"Google Cloud is on the expensive side for us. I don't have exact figures on the cost per year or month."
"The licensing for Google Cloud seems to be quite cheap and they're actually quite reasonable in comparison to Azure, which, as it turns out, is quite expensive. Even though Azure has a data center in South Africa it's still quite costly. There's no scaling, so if you go with the VM, you pay 2500 Rand. When you add another VM, it's another 2500 Rand even though you don't use the whole thing. With Google, you can go up as incrementally as you need to, even if it's just 30 Rand."
"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the tool's price as an eight."
"The solution is a bit expensive, we are still negotiating the price."
