Great protection, good privacy, and helpful support
The only thing I would like is a way to open the email that is going to quarantine. Based on the level of security, they cannot open the email to check the message. Even for the administrator, you have to create a security copy to be sent, which will lock the log support. It's not easy for an admin to check and decide if the email is good or not. That is the only thing that I'm seeing could be improved. Basically, ESET doesn't have the ability to let the administrator release an email showing the message on the email. It's not possible. If you want to have an email review, you have to select an option to send a copy. In the way that they designed the system, for security, they are not letting anyone even have the admin privileges to make this happen. Privacy is at a really high level.

Provides a centralized platform for managing assets and vulnerabilities, enabling assessment, prioritization, and remediation
Qualys Patch Management system requires several improvements. Firstly, the inability to download asset patches and the lack of third-party application integration limit patch accessibility. Additionally, rollback options are unreliable, and pre-deployment patch testing is crucial. Reporting needs enhancement, particularly with group-based compliance percentages and clearer, VMDR-like reporting in the Patch Management module. Furthermore, detection speed should be improved, as patches are released 24 hours after QIDs are published. The user interface could be more functional, with dashboards for patch compliance visualization and simplified error code language. Finally, the Mac patch catalogue needs expansion, and automated workflows, policy enforcement, and testing procedures should be streamlined for seamless, user-independent operation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We are close to having 99% or 98% detection."
"The most valuable features are the precision of detection and the level of customization of the policy."
"Qualys allows us to automate and fix patches through the tool, achieving a compliance rate of over 95%."
"Qualys Patch Management offers valuable features like scheduling and on-demand patching, allowing us to conveniently push patches to our servers at designated times."
"Qualys Patch Management streamlines our vulnerability management process by providing a single source of truth to assess, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across all assets."
"The integration of Qualys Gateway Scanner is my favorite feature."
"Qualys' best feature is its reporting. At first, it may seem a little complicated to a beginning user, but it's helpful once you get used to it. Most of these scans run automatically. We set the scans up for the client to run at daily, weekly, or monthly intervals, depending on how critical the server or other hardware is."
"For a few applications, you do not need to go and download the patches from the network or somewhere else. They have the patches or the latest updates in the directory. You can just select a patch and deploy it to a server. You can create a patch job and select the patch. Everything is within the interface. You do not need to go out of it."
"Patch Management's most valuable feature is the ability to search for vulnerabilities using their QID."
"The most valuable feature of Qualys Patch Management is the support and service provided by Qualys."

Cons

"The specific domain file for Apache needs to be well-defined."
"It's not easy for an admin to check and decide if the email is good or not."
"The availability of Qualys Patch Management needs to be improved."
"One of the challenges that we have faced with the Patch Management tool is that you cannot patch all the things. There are some limitations, whereas, in SCCM, we can create a package and just deploy that through it. Anything is deployable through SCCM, whereas Patch Management is very selective."
"There is room for improvement in terms of adding more patches. Not all patches are available for deployment on Qualys Patch Management, so collaborating with various vendors to provide new patches would be beneficial."
"Qualys could improve its capacity to fix vulnerabilities on VMware and other virtualized environments. The reporting could also be enhanced to make it more user-friendly. It's difficult for beginners to learn."
"We dislike having to pay extra. We don't mind paying for additional modules like Certificate View."
"One area for improvement in Qualys Patch Management is knowing whether patches have been completely downloaded in a particular QGS appliance."
"The availability of Qualys Patch Management needs to be improved."
"I deploy patches to endpoints and servers every month. However, despite a job showing as successful, I need to examine the job in detail."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution provides affordable pricing for medium sized industries."
"The pricing is reasonable and competitive. We get many more features at the same price compared to other solutions such as Microsoft SCCM. It is worth the money considering the services and features it has. Their support team is also awesome."
"Pricing for Qualys Patch Management is moderate."
"Qualys Patch Management is a cost-effective solution for managing our 43,000-plus assets."
"While the cost of Qualys Patch Management is slightly high compared to alternative tools, it is not excessively expensive."
"Qualys Patch Management comes as part of a bundled package with several modules, making it a cost-effective deal for us."
"From what I have heard, Qualys Patch Management is pricey, which is a main barrier to entry. Another aspect that I do not like about Qualys is that they do not add new patch management functionalities to the existing package. It is a separate SKU, so you have to pay more money."
"It is affordable, but they should provide features as per the rate they are charging. We have a big infrastructure with about 80,000 licenses. We expect better support from the Qualys team. So, it is affordable, but more features should be there, and the support should be better."
"Its price is competitive in the market. Compared to other solutions like Rapid7, Qualys offers a favorable price point and robust features."
