Stable solution that requires an improved user interface
We have 100 users of Enterasys Ethernet Switches Enterasys could provide better support, needs an improved user interface and improved performance. I have been using this solution for five years. Enterasys Ethernet Switches are stable. Installation of this solution is straightforward, it only…

Central management and cloud dashboard streamline network monitoring while connectivity hiccups need addressing
I use Cisco products and Meraki MS Switches. I am a user on the user side. Network security is handled by our firewalls and other solutions. I have not explored the area of network management AI in Meraki MS Switches. For other switches, when you buy one, you can just start configuring, connect it to the network, and it works. With Meraki MS Switches, you have to first whitelist the MAC address, let it have internet, then you can manage it. They're deployed on-premises. They're quite acceptable, so I recommend them to those who want to use Meraki MS Switches. The biggest benefit that I see in Meraki MS Switches is central management and the cloud dashboard. I rate Meraki MS Switches 8 out of 10.

Pros

"Enterasys Ethernet Switches are stable."
"This is a big telco switch with six slots."
"It is easy to work with."
"The most valuable feature is the dashboard because it makes it easy to manage all of the switches. It's easy to turn them up and get it configured."
"The most valuable feature is cloud management."
"It is easy to configure and provides complete visibility of the graphic end point."
"The initial setup is straightforward. You only need two people for deployment and maintenance."
"It helps manage multiple switches deployed in different locations with a single console on the cloud."
"The product offered a lower CapEx cost for the appliance."
"The performance is pretty good."

Cons

"Enterasys could provide better support, needs an improved user interface and improved performance."
"The initial setup could be made simpler."
"It might be perceived as more of a niche product, partly due to its name, as it's still not entirely recognized by the market."
"I would like to see improvements to the dark mode in the next release, as I prefer the dark mode."
"If there are many users and a heavy data load, heavy data traffic, I am not suggesting Meraki. I am focusing on Meraki Catalyst for live usage. It is not scalable enough, and I do not recommend it due to its switching capability."
"We had some dashboard licensing issues, maybe because their method of collecting data from the user needs to be more streamlined."
"Sometimes the controller in the cloud that controls the access points does not have the most accurate information. There is sometimes a glitch in keeping the management controller that is in the cloud up to date."
"The pricing needs to be more competitive with other products on the market."
"Meraki MS Switches, including their licensing, are somewhat expensive, particularly when compared with competitor solutions like HP."
"The improvement needed for Meraki MS Switches is the ability to connect in the worst case when I encounter internet issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"These switches are very expensive compared to those from other vendors."
"When you compare it to other switches like HP, Juniper, and Ruckus, Meraki MS Switches are cheaper."
"The pricing is high and it is where we get the most pushback from customers."
"It would be better if they had a one-time purchase option instead of a subscription model."
"This product is more than the competition, but you get what you pay for."
"My company pays for Meraki MS Switches yearly. Pricing-wise, the product is relatively inexpensive."
"Meraki MS Switches is a pricey product. You have to get a license for each product annually. It would have been perfect if there were product bundles."
"This product is quite expensive."
"If you buy a license for one switch, it will include the licensing for the device RMA, device failure warranty, technical support, and everything else. Also covered is support for software updates for future releases. It's a single license for everything and there's nothing that customers need to pay in addition to the license."
