Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The main thing is obviously notifications about alerts, getting ahead of the curve to make sure that we do not have system going down, or if it is down we get to know it earlier.""I can use it to detect whenever things go wrong on my network.""The solution's most valuable features are its integration with Broadcom tools and scalability.""Allows us to have a single console/notification point, with the alarms of all the tools that we use for monitoring.""I have found the cross analysis feature to be the most valuable.""Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing.""What I like best is the configuration management functionality.""Scalable and stable network monitoring tool with a simple setup."

"The solution includes a very stable VPN and IPS.""It's quite easy to use, and it's easy to find the necessary information from the web.""It covers all needs of our customers and works well. It is also easy to deploy and troubleshoot.""We like the availability of the hardware and the service that we get from FortiGate, as well as the kind of reach that they have as a part of their sales folks.""The solution is scalable because they have models that allow it to be right sized.""It’s easy to implement.""The Fortianalyzer is the most valuable aspect of this solution""The IPS and firewall function is valuable in Fortinet FortiGate Cloud."

Cons
"It doesn’t give you performance metrics: You need CA eHealth for this.""I would like to see them eliminate the Java console. The user interface for this is a Java applet that runs on your desktop, and it is very problematic for us.""If nobody else has said the documentation needs improvement, let's go there. I understand, you can either write about it or you can do it. And most of us would rather they do it, but now that they've done it, those of us that didn't do it, we need to go and find: "Where did they write about this to tell us how to do it?" That's always lacking.""Its visualization can be improved. It doesn't have a very advanced GUI. It is very basic and simple, but it does work.""Needs better integration with all the other products in the Agile suite of tools; anything they could do to make that less complex, would be great.""OS monitoring needs to be better developed, as well as their services, e.g., cluster monitoring, URLs, etc.""The Spectrum OneClick is a Java-based client, and that's aging. Really, before any new feature integration, I'd love to see a comprehensive rebuild of the UI.""I would recommend AI capability built-in so it becomes more predictable and we jump ahead of the curve. This is the one really important feature I would really like to see in any product that provides alarms."

"Everything related to the graphical user interface should be improved.""When it comes to technical support, the problem we have found is that if an issue comes, it takes a day to get everything resolved. It could be faster. They can be better at optimizing how they answer tickets in terms of response times. There must be ways to make the process more streamlined. It would make it easier for their clients.""The capacity to execute the solution needs to be improved. I would like to see management and analytics included in the solution.""The solution’s pricing and stability could be improved.""We needed to do some training to be able to implement Fortinet FortiGate Cloud and after the training, we did the implementation in-house.""The interface and dashboards should improve in Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. Other solutions have better graphical interfaces.""I would like to see better integration with other technologies.""I would like to see more reporting from the analysis improved in the future."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
  • "It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
  • "The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
  • "In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
  • "The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
  • More DX Spectrum Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price is over $1,000 USD annually."
  • "The pricing is mid-ranged, it's not very expensive but it's not the cheapest or most affordable in the market."
  • "The license does not include many of the features that are necessary, which means that you have to pay extra for them."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "The price of the solution is high compare to competitors."
  • "As with us, our customers need not pay for a license. One brings one's own."
  • "When comparing this solution to others it is less expensive and there is an annual license required."
  • "The pricing is competitive."
