Speedy and easy setup but it needs to mature
One way this solution could be improved is if they could come up with better options to migrate. As for what could be included in the next release, we have shared a couple of points with them. First, the account should be more in balance and coordinated with us. They already communicated to our project management team that they are going to implement some of these features. I would definitely recommend this solution. But as time goes on and new features are getting added the product will be more comprehensive.

Offers reliable recovery and backup but needs better ransomware protection
With ransomware protection and cyber protection, more improvement is possible. IBM provides these through a third party, so enhancement is needed. There's significant room for improvement. They are not yet where I want them to be. It does not offer horizontal and vertical scaling. These are areas IBM can improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the features I find most valuable, is the good technical support."
"The speed and the ease of the initial setup are both good. It is not complex."
"Using this tool, we can easily backup and restore or recover the data for PCs and mobiles in case of system crashes."
"The most valuable feature is how we can easily power speed up the VM even though the VM resides in remote storage."
"The initial setup of IBM Protect Plus is simple and not complex."
"The tool has enough documentation; you don't need to contact the support team."
"The solution is scalable."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"The most valuable feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is the deduplication functionality. The clients moved to this solution originally because of this feature."
"The feature I find most valuable is the offload to Spectrum Protect for long-term retention. I think the deduplication and replication are quite nice on Plus."

Cons

"The interface and documentation need to improve."
"The product has to be more mature, like to be another six to eight months on the market. A lot of maturity needs to be incorporated."
"IBM Spectrum Protect Plus could improve security."
"It requires much more automation features."
"I think the graphical reports are a shortcoming of the tool since it fails to provide my company with what we want in terms of reporting. Due to the product's inability to take care of its reporting part, we have to use third-party software."
"It still needs to grow and add new features. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, I believe, requires time to become competitive due to a weakness in the other software products."
"The software's technical support could improve its response time for different time zones."
"You end up needing to do a lot of troubleshooting to get things to work effectively."
"The backup support for IBM Power Virtualization needs to be added."
"Instead of using the command prompt for troubleshooting and administering the backup, there should be an easy-to-use graphical user interface."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is a little expensive."
"The price is lower than that of some competing products."
"There is an annual license required to use IBM Spectrum Protect Plus. The cost of the license could improve, it is expensive."
"The solution is too expensive."
"I rate the price of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus a one on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is very cheap."
"In addition to the standard licensing fees, we paid for implementation and training."
"Unlike some other solutions, such as Veritas NetBackup where you have to pay for different licenses to use different features, there is a single license that allows you to use all of the features."
"The price is perpetual, but the maintenance cost is annual. That is, we pay once for the product and pay annually for the maintenance and support. The price was much cheaper than what we would have had to pay for EMC or Veritas. The pricing is competitive, and I would rate it at four out of five."
