We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, there was a device terminal, which was interacting with the application via the TCP/IP protocol. Most of the tools don't support that, but we were able to achieve it using Broadcom Service Virtualization.""There are several areas that are easily configurable.""The most valuable features are the recording and creating of virtual services."

More Broadcom Service Virtualization Pros →

"You can record your actions and play them back later.""It is very easy to maintain tests with this tool. It covers all necessary items in the test plan. The most painful item in testing is maintenance. When changes occur, the tests should be maintained.""It works very fine. It is fast on almost any machine, and it is also very well organized. I like its object mapping and its capability to find and interact with almost everything that exists on Windows.""The initial setup is pretty easy and it's quick to deploy.""Customer service and technical support responsiveness are high. Everyone is very professional.""When compared to other tools, it is very simple.""The most valuable features are the desktop and mobile modules.""The reporting is ready to use and doesn't require any setup."

Cons
"The cost is an area that needs improvement. There are a couple of other tools which provide support for performance testing with the base version itself, but Broadcom needs a separate component to support virtualization for performance testing. This is a costly component.""I would like to have more flexibility towards the mainframe virtualization and also in JDBC virtualization.""It is not a stable solution."

More Broadcom Service Virtualization Cons →

"To bring it up to a 10, I would be looking for the addition of some key functional API testing.""The test object repository needs to be improved. The hierarchy and the way we identify the objects in different applications, irrespective of technology, needs adjustments. The located and test objects are not as flexible compared to other commercial tools.""If that engine could better identify more XPaths automatically and make the process more flexible, that would be better.""Stability issues occurred only when connecting to the SourceSafe. Sometimes, after getting the latest version, the tool hangs and it should be reopened in order to recover.""Right now, when you buy the solution, you need to pay for one solution. You receive one set up and you install it and it's just in that one machine. It would be ideal if they could offer one subscription where you can connect to different machines with a group subscription.""Name Mapping feature should be clearer. Whenever I use it, I do not really know what will work and what will not work.""There could be API interfaces with this tool.""In the cross-browser domain, it has a few snags with Microsoft Edge and Chrome; although, these problems are not critical."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
  • "I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
  • "There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
  • More Broadcom Service Virtualization Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The option we chose was around $2,000 USD."
  • "The licensing costs are in the range of $1,000 to $3,000."
  • "The license price for a physical machine is cheap, and for virtual machine, it is very expensive."
  • "Our ROI is about $10,000 a year."
  • "The pricing is a little above average — it could be lower."
  • "It costs a few hundred per year, but I am not sure. It is not at all expensive as compared to other tools."
  • "We have a TestComplete 12 license."
  • "The price of SmartBear TestComplete could be less. The main challenge is when it comes to node-locked. They should use a subscription model, such as a monthly-based subscription or, a quarterly-based subscription. Their floating license is very expensive, and this high price should be reduced or provide, at a minimum, a subscription model."
