Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Comprehensive discovery has populated our CMDB and provides deep insight into asset relationships
The applicability depends on the customer environment. Usually it is straightforward to apply the policies. BMC Helix Discovery is seamless and has many plugins available. It is a good feature that they offer. I have heard about it, but I am not currently using it, though I know that they have that feature available. BMC Helix Discovery provides a lot of information that can be obtained from discovery, including the relationship between the CIs and how many CIs are orphans. The analytics capabilities are strong.

A user-friendly solution that has a good user interface, but its technical support is not good enough
Around 20 to 25 staff members are needed to deploy and maintain the solution, including two managers, one architect, and other implementers. IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT does not adopt the latest technology. The solution can be integrated with our existing IT environment through some web services and connectors. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My understanding is that the initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"I implemented AA in different environments, the AA installation is the smoothest compared to other RPA software installs."
"Scalability is good. There is no question about its scalability."
"It is easy to use and deploy."
"The best part about Automation Anywhere is the easy to use UI. It's very user-friendly. You have everything that you want in front of your eyes. You just have to drag and drop, then build your logic accordingly."
"With Automation Anywhere, it has become very easy for us to do invoice billing. It has saved us about 80% of the time."
"Automation Anywhere's OCR functionality stands out as the most valuable feature for us, as it allows us to swiftly extract data for repetitive tasks, significantly boosting our efficiency."
"Some of the really impactful features of working with Automation Anywhere are the ability to design and partner with their experts to come up with our solutions."
"It provides comprehensive dependency mapping, which is essential for reducing the time spent and addressing problem-solving between data centers."
"It is a scalable solution."
"It improved efficiencies and saved money by replacing manual methods."
"Accuracy and clarity are vastly improved for the service lines."
"The most valuable feature is the automated service mapping."
"We have seen a return on our investment many times over."
"It is a stable solution. The stability is okay."
"It is agentless, which means you don't have to install anything on all the different pieces of hardware that you are looking to discover."
"IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT is a user-friendly solution that has a good user interface."

Cons

"It should be easier to use."
"I would like to have a command that allows me to add code, like C#. As a developer, this would be helpful."
"When I change the name of a variable in the Variable Manager, I would really like it to change in the code."
"With the PDF command, you can only read structured data. If your data is in an unstructured format, there is no command for it in Automation Anywhere. Then, people need to use Python coding if their data is in unstructured format. Therefore, Automation Anywhere needs to improve in the PDF area."
"Automation Anywhere can improve process mining."
"Support is not very satisfactory."
"I think the pricing model should be more flexible."
"We are at an inflection point where we have automated so much that just keeping the lights on certainly takes 20% to 50% of the time, depending on the time of year. Being able to enable the stakeholders is one of my main focuses. If we are automating their process, I want them to continue owning that as much as possible. We are just expanding on the bot insights. From a security perspective, there have been some challenges for us getting our customers in there from a role-level security perspective and making sure that they have full access to the control room and their automation after it is automated."
"The query language is somewhat challenging to learn. It uses a Berkeley database, and the query language is not easy to master for performing complex queries."
"The CMDB could be improved. Getting data from the CMDB is the greatest challenge."
"It would be nice to see more updates to the solution."
"The improvement which we require is to delete the Internet service. Till some of the features are coming, like, internally side. If you are taking one server to model, there are a lot of usages like three structures per diagram is coming, and we have to do the man lot of manual work. Instead of that, whatever our requirement, we should be able to provide the servers and get the structure. So this is what we want to implement with such data."
"The license model could be more flexible and cheaper pricing."
"The monitoring tools could be more stable."
"I would like to see a lower price and better technical support."
"An area that can be improved is the IoT."
"The solution’s initial setup is complex and technical support is not good enough."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licensing costs are setup on an annual basis."
"The solution is costly and the licensing is very confusing."
"Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
"We're just starting to renew our license, and we were quoted $115,000 without the IQ Bot. The IQ Bot is another $30,000. This is with very limited pages, as we go through our first projects. The majority of the cost was for ten days of onsite training."
"When you compare the cost of Automation Anywhere with UiPath and Blue Prism, those others are much less. Licensing-wise, UiPath wins the deal."
"There may be room for the product to be more competitively priced to excel in the market."
"Pricing is affordable and I would recommend beginning with the Starter Package."
"Its cost is good."
"I rate the pricing an eight out of ten. All BMC products are expensive."
"We have a perpetual license for the solution."
"It's not a cheap product. But the benefits it delivers is that it's a fair price."
"BMC is available for a reasonable price compared to ServiceNow — it's half the price."
"The price was fair compared to competitors. BMC is very affordable. There are optional consulting services to assist with implementation."
"We are on a three-year agreement with BMC Helix Discovery to use the solution. There are not any additional fees other than the standard license."
"The licensing fee is very low."
"The licenses are very complex and quite costly."
"IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT is an expensive solution."
