Ease of backup and restore improves data management with reliable support
The interface of BDRSuite Backup & Replication is pretty intuitive. Regarding their marketing strategy, I'm very bad at marketing. I always get a little edgy when people try to shove their product in my face. There are two sides to the story. If you don't know something exists, you might not even start to look for it unless you really know that you need it. If you are explicitly looking for a solution, then you'll find it. People that don't know that they should do backup don't have a place in IT. I rate BDRSuite Backup & Replication 8.5 out of 10.

Expert Backup at a tech services company with 201-500 employees
A virtual deduplication backup appliance that protects physical and virtual data across remote sites, the datacenter and cloud deployments
Given its ease of use and management, I believe there are no specific caveats that users need to be aware of during the setup of DXRIS for backups. The process was straightforward, and I did not encounter any challenges or issues. As for a rating on a scale of one to ten, with one being the worst and ten being the best, I would rate the Quantum DXI Series a nine. My deduction is primarily influenced by personal preferences, particularly regarding the user interface and it is a highly commendable system, I would rate it a solid nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The smooth implementation is the most valuable aspect of BDRSuite."
"The automated backup of multiple virtual machines. We can back up two hypervisors, one is Microsoft Hyper-V and the other one is VMware Hypervisor."
"Once it's set up and working, it's just working."
"Vembu has also ensured that the disaster recovery aspect of our business is well taken care of."
"Any organization that is looking to deploy a backup solution in their environment with minimal time commitment and the highest level of confidence in being able to restore their data should be seriously considering one of the Vembu Technologies backup solutions."
"Backup of the VMware server is the most valuable feature."
"The licensing and pricing are good; it's a no-brainer, it is affordable, and it has value with respect to the features included in the software."
"Their support is great. I think they work 24 hours a day. I get a very quick turnaround time from them no matter the day or time that I send them an email."
"I am impressed with the tool's technical alliance with Veeam and Veritas."
"While the challenges posed by the difficulties were significant, they prompted the replacement of problematic components, resulting in the resolution of issues. Importantly, there were no substantial ongoing concerns. Regarding the overall performance, it has been consistently excellent."

Cons

"Windows 10 does not have application-aware backups. From my point of view, that's what exists and needs improvement."
"The system died twice and it was apparently the result of corrupted disk sectors."
"One thing that I reported with the backups: When there are accentuated characters in a path, then we can't restore documents into a folder."
"What I would love to see on the dashboard are graphs, per backup job."
"I have seen that the BDRSuite user interface can be less intuitive and more challenging to navigate compared to other similar products."
"The process is a bit cumbersome when you remove an agent, delete that job, and add the agent to the same server."
"The API uses a common data image to store the data for the sets, but unfortunately, it's limited to consecutive sets only. That's the only limitation I have observed so far."
"I have had issues where it was working and then it stopped and I had to diagnose what had changed or gone wrong to get it back up."
"The product needs to improve performance while scaling out. It also needs to improve stability."
"Perhaps the most notable area for enhancement lies in the web interface for management. The current limitations in LDAP editing capabilities are not addressed in the UI, and I haven't observed any recent updates. It's possible that the new version of the DXI service incorporates improvements in the GUI, but I cannot confirm. While there is room for improvement in the current GUI, it remains a relatively minor issue. Overall, the system is comprehensive, covering aspects such as reports on latency and networking, leaving little room for additional enhancements in those areas."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is good. The tough part is estimating storage needs."
"Its price is reasonable as compared to other solutions. There are no additional costs. While increasing the count on the server-side, we have to take care of managing or optimizing the license."
"It helps us deliver an enterprise-level data protection solution and reduce budgets at a price that - and we don't want to encourage them to change their pricing - is a great value."
"At the moment, I am doing Vembu for one host. My costs are about $25 USD a month for a single host up to 100 VMs."
"The pricing of Vembu could be better. They have a good product, and I know good products cost money, but they need to find a balance."
"For our company, the current price of Vembu against Veeam is a few times cheaper. In our infrastructure, if we picked Veeam, we would have to pay about $20,000 per year. Now, we are currently paying about $2,000 per year for Vembu. You can do the math. The price is great."
"I've purchased and been licensed for one aspect of it, which is my preferred method, but the pricing and licensing will not work for the short-term and I can't draw back."
"The pricing and licensing structure are spot on. I don't think there's anything out there in the market that does either the licensing structure or the pricing structure better."
"I do not oversee this aspect, as pricing is contingent on factors such as volume, technical specifications, and the desired features. Consequently, I lack information on the pricing details and structure."
