Ease of backup and restore improves data management with reliable support
The interface of BDRSuite Backup & Replication is pretty intuitive. Regarding their marketing strategy, I'm very bad at marketing. I always get a little edgy when people try to shove their product in my face. There are two sides to the story. If you don't know something exists, you might not even start to look for it unless you really know that you need it. If you are explicitly looking for a solution, then you'll find it. People that don't know that they should do backup don't have a place in IT. I rate BDRSuite Backup & Replication 8.5 out of 10.

Comprehensive data protection supports diverse IT environments
Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products. It supports cross-platform backup and recovery, allowing customers to back up from one platform and recover to another. The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use. In addition to virtual machine backups, the platform supports physical server backups, file backups, and database backups. This comprehensive support allows customers to back up most IT resources, including the public cloud, within one platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their technical support is very good to work with, as they are able to propose alternate solutions to problems that work well for us."
"The restore feature is the most valuable; it's easy to restore."
"Technical support gets an A-plus."
"The ROI is very good because you have the safety of being protected by backing up your data a lot, so if an incident happens then we can restore valuable data, save a lot of money, and preserve the continuity of the business."
"Overall, this suite is very good; it delivers an enterprise-level data protection solution and helps us reduce our budget while being cost-effective."
"Short spoken: The end user experience is great and easy to use!"
"The most valuable feature is the Hyper-V backup - it's just one click. I don't have to worry about it."
"It is a good tool for backup, replication, and restoration."
"Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products."
"The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use."

Cons

"We are still exploring its features, but we want to see more features that we desire over time."
"They need to improve their marketing because not many people are aware of it. People ask me what is Vembu, and I have to explain to them it is a good tool for backup and other things."
"It would be good to have a volume licensing discount. We're a managed IT service provider, so we're backing up not just our own systems but all our clients'. In that regard, as we grow, we're putting business through Vembu. There is not any specific partner incentive at all. So that would be nice to see."
"The response time of the support could be improved a little bit. Sometimes, I need to wait for two or three hours to get support. With VMware, we can get urgent support in an hour. Other than that, I'm pretty good with BDRSuite."
"The compression is unusable in every scenario because the data that we backup is too different, according to each type."
"I have not been impressed by the data compression of the backup images. They seem to take up nearly as much space on the backup drive as they do on the server."
"In the beginning, when we had some hiccups, I would chalk that up more to a learning curve for the product."
"About $50,000 of lost revenue due to Research and Development Capital expenditure and labour to setup, we never got the product into a position where it was profitable."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing structure is in line with other solutions. However, the option to replicate offsite to a unit at another office or at home is a big cost benefit. Instead of paying monthly for cloud storage, you replicate offsite for free."
"The return of investment was very fast, within half a year."
"At the moment, I am doing Vembu for one host. My costs are about $25 USD a month for a single host up to 100 VMs."
"There is a drawback in the whole approach about how the licenses are managed. There are two consoles: cloud and on-premise. It seems that on a daily basis we have to manage both consoles, which isn't user-friendly. Ideally, it should be either a single on-premise console or only a cloud console. A single platform approach is the better solution. For now, with full licensing, you have to manage your instances on the Vembu Portal, then reassign licenses, and go back to your on-premise management console to do the real management. It is a bit awkward."
"The pricing could have been cheaper."
"It's very affordable. We are very satisfied with the cost. It's very affordable for us."
"One thing to note is that when you configure which virtual machine you're going to back up, if it's on one physical machine, they license it there. If it automatically fails over to a second machine, the license doesn't automatically move over with it. If they could make that a little more streamlined, that would be an improvement."
"The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."
