Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most important feature, normally for small business customers, is link load balancing."
"The most valuable features are the enterprise modeling and the simple interface."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the rules and quality of service."
"There are lots of features and most of them are deployed for internet security. Users are protected if they accidentally go to some malicious sites."
"This solution has solid UTM features combined with a nice GUI."
"The tool is a nice product and easy to handle. The software's user interface is also good. You can easily implement remote access in the solution."
"It's very easy to configure."
"Enables us to define user application-level access, so our customers can work anytime from anywhere."
"Good identity fire walling, malware protection and application control features."
"The solution is stable."
"One of the big benefits of the product is that it allows you to manage big environments with fewer resources."
"The antivirus protection or malware protection has been great."
"I wanted to go to a software-defined WAN and in Barracuda they have a specific protocol called TINA (Transport Independent Network Architecture). You can create a master policy over the internet and it allows you to do Quality of Services on top of it. That is really helpful for me."
"One of the most important parts is, there is auto-upgrade of the hardware every fourth year."
"Its central management, especially when it comes to distributed environments, is great. I can generate and save a setting and then apply that setting across the network with just one click."
"What I like about his program, is that it is easy to use and easy to manage."
"IPS and advanced threat protection (ATP) are the most valuable features. I am able to segment my network traffic and block incoming connections. It is also easy to use."
"Sophos offers great disk encryption, anti protection, and the interface is very user-friendly."
"We've deployed quite a number for our users and our customers, and the feedback is quite positive in terms of management and also administration."
"I like it for its simplicity. It is very simple to configure and implement. It is a very good product for medium-sized organizations."
"Definitely, its usability is very good, and it's a very robust firewall."
"We've had good experiences with technical support."
"The solution seems pretty stable. We've had no issues so far."
"There can be more security in hybrid implementations. When a customer has a hybrid environment where some parts are in the cloud, we need a consistent security solution for such scenarios."
"Fortinet FortiGate can be integrated with different platforms. They have integrations in place, but I can't say they're 100%."
"One area for improvement is the performance on the bandwidth demands for smaller devices, as well as better web filtering."
"One area for improvement is the performance on bandwidth demands for smaller devices, as well as better web filtering."
"FortiGate is really good. We have been using it for quite some time. Initially, when we started off, we had around 70 plus devices of FortiGate, but then Check Point and Palo Alto took over the place. From the product perspective, there are no issues, but from the account perspective, we have had issues. Fortinet's presence in our company is very less. I don't see any Fortinet account managers talking to us, and that presence has diluted in the last two and a half or three years. We have close to 1,500 firewalls. Out of these, 60% of firewalls are from Palo Alto, and a few firewalls are from Check Point. FortiGate firewalls are very less now. It is not because of the product; it is because of the relationship. I don't think they had a good relationship with us, and there was some kind of disconnect for a very long time. The relationship between their accounts team and my leadership team seems to be the reason for phasing out FortiGate."
"Difficult to add or define, and not that easy to configure and manage."
"Fortinet FortiGate is a stable solution. However, my issue is the performance only. When I use all the profiles, this affects the performance. From the beginning, I should have had a better sizing of the box."
"I think they need to improve more in order to be a competitor with the leaders of the field."
"While using Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, we encounter issues with VPN profiles for Windows."
"The features are a bit limited compared to other vendors."
"Command line could be more user friendly."
"If you have another brand of VPN where you have to put an SSL VPN between two devices, Barracuda doesn't support that at a certain point. You can't actually build the VPN between Barracuda and a different device of a different brand."
"The analytics are weak."
"The technical manuals, at times, have images that don't match the actual screens and are not always as clear as they could be on the configuration."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly dashboard and an easier interface."
"There is room for improvement in performance and the support language. The support they're providing right now is from a different country, and in our country, there are people—network admins and IT heads—who don't speak English properly. So Barracuda needs to provide support agents who speak additional languages, such as Bangla."
"An area of improvement would be the reporting as diagnostic graphs take a long time to load and refresh. If there could be an option to show only select graphs, it may speed up the graphics."
"When upgrading the firewalls, the process could be easier."
"Sometimes when you roll out a new firmware, you find that the rules you already have in place are broken, so it's difficult to migrate to a new firmware. That's the only downside I've experienced in Sophos."
"Sophos XG's web server protection and log viewer could improve. They should also introduce sandboxing."
"Technical support could be improved. They aren't as responsive as they could be."
"SD-WAN can be improved."
"I'm just a sole proprietor for IT support, and from my perspective, there could be better ways to educate a proprietor, such as myself, on how to set it up, and program it, and manage it. They do tend to have support, but a lot of times, it is for larger networks. I need something that is simpler and more rudimentary as to how to go about setting up and configuring the firewall, setting up the rules, and that type of thing. So, if there is a missing component there, that would be it."
"There is an area that is very specific to our setup, where working tools you cannot easily establish a VPN between two internal networks."
