Security monitoring has uncovered unauthorized devices and now protects client networks
I think the best feature of Armis Centrix for OT/IoT Security is that it ensures only the authorized devices and users are authorized to prevent any potential breaches. I think that clear definition is very essential for a lot of networks because it helps us understand who should be there and who shouldn't be. For our clientele, we were able to discover a lot of unauthorized devices that were on their network. This first of all helped them remove a lot of potential security breaches and cleared the bandwidth of the network as well. I think this has been one of the biggest cases that we have found. For most of the clients where we have deployed it, this has always been a common occurrence because a lot of people enter the network and then you don't know who is there, who has the access, and so on. I think this is the very reason I said what I said earlier.

Centralized firewall management has saved time and improved network security across locations
Barracuda CloudGen Firewall could be improved as it has a very high learning curve. It is definitely not a one and done firewall, as a one and done firewall requires a lot of dedicated time to get the machine running the way you want. To improve Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, there should be a lot of tutorials and videos online to help new users. Multiple ways to configure for the same service or feature takes time to determine your customized build. In addition to previous points, the interface can sometimes be clunky when trying to determine how it is organized or arranged.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think the best feature of Armis Centrix for OT/IoT Security is that it ensures only the authorized devices and users are authorized to prevent any potential breaches."
"Its stability is great."
"If you have multiple offices, all inter-connected via the internet, you want a single management console through which you can manage all you firewalls. In that case Barracuda could be a good option."
"Since switching to Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, we have saved time of 30 to 40 percent because we are able to control the network from one location, and we have also saved costs of 20 percent because we do not have to move from one location to another to control the network."
"It provides a lot of functionality adhering to the current trends."
"The antivirus protection or malware protection has been great."
"It has offered improved network monitoring and intrusion prevention which we otherwise had none of, and the office was under constant spamming by Chinese and Russian IP sub-nets and at one time the exchange server was covertly hijacked as an SMTP relay, and the NG gateways helped mitigate these issues."
"At that time we were using pfSense, which is not bad at all, but we needed something more enterprise-class like, and Barracuda Networks gave that to us."
"The encryption and the security standards are valuable."

Cons

"I'm not exactly sure how scalable it is if you're managing multiple locations, but I think it still has some potential for improvement for multiple locations."
"The features are a bit limited compared to other vendors."
"Overall, Barracuda CloudGen Firewall is very effective, but there is always room for improvement."
"However we found the product a little harder to configure than others, and so it´s not a product for unskilled/inexperienced administrators."
"Command line could be more user friendly."
"The unit seems to be handling our 150MB pipe okay, but logger refresh leaves a bit to be desired."
"It's a little bit complex in terms of handling. If you implement a change, there is a specific point where you have to commit it. It's not like you just push a button and it's always committed. If you don't know to check whether your commit command has been executed or not... that is something Barracuda needs to work on."
"The biggest downside is that it is quite an expensive product."
"The GUI can be confusing and overwhelming at times."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The product is a bit cheaper than some solutions."
"Pricing and licensing are fine. It's worth the value because every four years, if I buy any other product, I have to replace my hardware. But with Barracuda I get a free hardware upgrade. Today I'm using Xbox. After four years I can take another Xbox or a Ybox."
"My advice is to try and evaluate it (Barracuda offers a trial period of one month)."
"The platform is inexpensive compared to other vendors."
"Pricing is good. Licensing is pretty much automatic if using Control Center."
"It is a product with a very transparent model of licensing. In the sense of hidden expenses, they do not exist with this model. "
"In general, it tends to be cheaper than most solutions."
"The 600 series is about USD $10,000 a year and the 80 is USD $400 a year."
