We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There are some very powerful features to Sentinel, such as the integration of various connectors. We have a lot of departments that use both IaaS and SaaS services, including M365 as well as Azure services. The ability to leverage connectors into these environments allows for large-scale data injection.""Sentinel pricing is good""We have no complaints about the features or functionality.""Free ingestion for Azure logs (with E5 licence)""Sentinel also enables you to ingest data from your entire ecosystem and not just from the Microsoft ecosystem. It can receive data from third-party vendors' products such firewalls, network devices, and antivirus solutions. It's not only a Microsoft solution, it's for everything.""Log aggregation and data connectors are the most valuable features.""The in-built SOAR of Sentinel is valuable. Kusto Query Language is also valuable for the ease of writing queries and ease of getting insights from the logs. Schedule-based queries within Sentinel are also valuable. I found these three features most useful for my projects.""Sentinel has features that have helped improve our security poster. It helped us in going ahead and identifying the gaps via analysis and focusing on the key elements."

"The best feature of AWS Security Hub is that you can get compliance or your cloud's current security posture.""Currently, our organization utilizes AWS for various purposes, including SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and hosting applications in the cloud. We develop our applications and use AWS services as a platform for basic functions and secondary development needs. Additionally, we rely on PaaS for accounting services. Approximately, 50% of our applications are hosted in the cloud environment, making it a significant part of our current setup.""The most valuable features of the solution are the scanning of all the cloud environments and most of the compliances available in the cloud.""I like that AWS Security Hub currently has several good features, around four or five. The technical support for AWS Security Hub is also responsive.""Easily integrates with third-party tools""I really like the seamless integration with the AWS account structure. It can even be made mandatory as part of the landing zone. These are great features. And there's a single pane of glass for the entire account.""Cloudposse is a valuable feature as it guarantees my security.""The solution shows us our compliance score."

"It is a scalable solution...The implementation phase of the product was not tough or difficult.""We use the product for security.""The solution is easy to implement and includes 450 built-in connectors.""It's great that the solution is integrated with FortiAnalyzer.""The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiSOAR is the playbook, which has to be defined to apply the policies.""The reputation of the brand is very good.""The good news is that FortiSOAR is not hard to maintain. If you prepared well and deployed strong initially, then maintenance will take half an hour every other week, not more than that. A single person can do it.""The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiSOAR is the number of available connectors and the simplicity to start to automate."

Cons
"When we pass KPIs to the governance department, there's no option to provide rights to the data or dashboard to colleagues. We can use Power BI for this, but it isn't easy or convenient. They should just come up with a way to provide limited role-based access to auditing personnel""Improvement-wise, I would like to see more integration with third-party solutions or old-school antivirus products that have some kind of logging capability. I wouldn't mind having that exposed within Sentinel. We do have situations where certain companies have bought licensing or have made an investment in a product, and that product will be there for the next two or three years. To be able to view information from those legacy products would be great. We can then better leverage the Sentinel solution and its capabilities.""If you're looking to use canned queries, the interface could be a little more straightforward. It's not immediately intuitive regarding how you use it. You have to take a canned query and paste it into an operational box and then you hit a button... They could improve the ease of deploying these queries.""Microsoft should improve Sentinel, considering that from the legacy systems, it cannot collect logs.""Sentinel provides decent visibility, but it's sometimes a little cumbersome to get to the information I want because there is so much information. I would also like to see more seamless integration between Sentinel and third-party security products.""Its documentation is not so simple. It is easy for somebody who is Microsoft certified or more closely attached to Microsoft solutions. It is not easy for those who are working on open-source platforms. There isn't a central point where everything is documented, and there is no specific training or certification.""The solution could improve the playbooks.""Only one thing is missing: NDR is not available out-of-the-box. The competitive cloud-native SIEM providers have the NDR component. Currently, Sentinel needs NDR to be powered from either Corelight or some other NDR provider."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The support must be quicker.""Whenever my team gets some alarms from the central team, my team needs to initiate whether it's a real or false trigger. The central team needs to keep adjusting to the parameters or at least the concerned IPs, whether it's really from the company's pool of IPs, so the trigger process can be improved. In the next release of AWS Security Hub, I'd like a better dashboard that could result in better alert visibility.""It's not user-friendly. Too much going on, too many unnecessary findings, not very visual. You can't do much compared to other similar tools that are cheaper and better.""We need more granular-level customizations to enable or disable the rules in AWS Security Hub.""The solution will only give you insight if you have configure rule enabled. It should work more like Prisma Cloud and Dome9 which have a better approach.""The user interface, graphs, and dashboards of the solution could improve in the future. They are not very sophisticated and could use an update.""It is not flexible for multi-cloud environments.""AWS Security Hub's configuration and integration are areas where it lacks and needs to improve."

More AWS Security Hub Cons →

"The solution’s pricing could be improved.""The UI design of the solution needs to be changed since it can get difficult for a newbie to operate.""Fortinet's tech support overall is not great when they are at their best.""The technology and integrations are important so should continue to be enhanced.""Fortinet FortiSOAR's dashboard is not easy to understand.""The area that needs improvement is integration with multiple third-party vendors.""I have found that Fortinet FortiSOAR needs a lot of improvement. The Orchestration needs to be improved.""Fortinet FortiSOAR should improve its analysis."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "The price of the product should be lower. The brand value that Fortinet has, it has the reputation of being a reasonably priced product, and they have an enormous customer base in India.
