Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

We use it for handling requests. It has reduced the IT staff required.
Handling requests - Technical service requests: hardware, software not working - Account requests: new/modify account requests to various systems - Software requests: of all types from our staff - IT related assets: hardware controlled by IT - All types of technical abuse complaints: ie copyright - Surveys about the follow-through of the staff to requests entered in the system

Structured workflows have improved SLA compliance and now support prioritized incident handling
I think the licensing and pricing of ServiceNow is quite expensive compared to other tools. For large organizations, it is acceptable, but specifically for small and medium organizations to track incidents or change requests, ServiceNow is quite expensive. Sometimes performance can be slow when workflows and integrations are configured for complex tasks. For advanced customizations or advanced features which we rarely use, the documentation is not up to standard. The documentation needs to be improved for advanced customization features. However, the platform is stable overall and the features are quite good. The user experience and performance concerns I mentioned are areas I want to be improved. When many workflows and interactions are configured, performance is slow. For the features it is providing, it is quite expensive. If these performance features are improved, we can easily pay that price and get the return on investment.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We are using Automation Anywhere for our leave approval process. We used to have three FTEs on the day shift working on this process. Now, we only have one FTE working on the leave approval process. The bot supports everything else in the process. With this bot, we are saving the cost of two FTEs."
"As for the stability of the product, we can use it in any use cases or to automate anything, like manufacturing or for the banking sector. We can automate all things. The stability is quite good. It is easy to use and user-friendly. You can automate whatever you do manually and day-to-day things work. We can automate repetitive tasks as well."
"It has the ability to tag different components within the automation. We built it to track the ROI and stability of the product."
"My clients have seen tremendous value when it comes to automating business processes, and the robust nature of the application allows them to scale their business processes pretty quickly."
"Working with the Automation Anywhere application is very easy in our environment."
"We used to do many daily routine checks and jobs. We have implemented the automation knowledge which resulted in good productivity, time-saving, and extra efforts being reduced."
"Automation Anywhere has very strong game because it is always up for asking feedback."
"With Automation Anywhere, what used to take us two days now takes us twenty minutes."
"We were able to reduce the IT staff from 4 to 1.5 FTE, to handle the 2500/monthly requests."
"It offers ready-built automation and simpler configuration for workflows."
"With it, I can do everything, so I think only our imagination can be the limit of ServiceNow."
"ServiceNow has been implemented to streamline team workflows across different departments in our company. Users, including traveling leaders, were able to approve requests and authorize additional rights through the mobile platform."
"I like ServiceNow's Workspace feature. With Jira, we had to edit a ticket by going into it. We couldn't perform edits from within the project plan. ServiceNow allows you to edit everything from one screen. It's like an Excel spreadsheet, but Jira requires you to drill down into the ticket. ServiceNow is more convenient if you are working on multiple projects and workflows."
"If you stick to the out-of-the-box solution, it's an easy setup."
"Easy to integrate with third-party applications."
"I find the incident management part to be the most valuable. That's how the service desk tracks tickets."
"Most of our tickets go through ServiceNow."

Cons

"I would like the support to be faster. Their response time is one to two days. Their customer care could be faster."
"Currently, there are some vulnerabilities in security that need attention in Automation Anywhere."
"One thing I dislike about Automation Anywhere is that our process is time-consuming. Since the bot is utilized by that machine and if a long-running task is happening, then another bot may not run and the machine is locked."
"Over the time that I've worked with Automation Anywhere, I have experienced downtime, crashes, or performance issues."
"While exporting a package, an option to de-select all the depending/referenced files should be available. Currently, it only allows for selecting all the files. Also, the views should be re-sizable as they are currently a fixed width. This would enable to view long file names easily eliminating any chances of exporting the wrong file."
"I would like for AA to add an inbuilt debug log that has functionalities to view the values of variables during run time in order to have a point-to-point debugging in case of an error."
"Sometimes, while recording, the screen hangs and we are not able to perform any actions during that time."
"The product needs improvements in dealing with remote servers and providing more APIs that will be used with other systems."
"The GUI looks a little dated."
"Complexities in the organization made the initial deployment complex."
"The Software Asset Management feature can be improved. We would like to see more features for the Software Asset Management functionality. Its price can also be better. It is currently more expensive than other solutions."
"CA didn't really know what was going on and a lot of the stuff they promised was really not working properly."
"Still there are a lot of restrictions, what developers like to see in an environment they're developing."
"There is room for improvement in price."
"It could be easier to use. It's a bit complicated and the user experience isn't exactly easy."
"The solution is priced for medium to enterprises sized businesses. However, it is expensive compared to competitors."
"The solution’s pricing is expensive and could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Initially, they charged a premium, but now the rest of the vendors have increased their overall pricing and Automation Anywhere is not that high at this time. It's pretty viable."
"It is not cheap, with costs ranging between 700 to 800 dollars per month. While Power Automate is cheaper at 15 dollars per month, Automation Anywhere offers superior features, user-friendliness, and smoothness."
"Despite being less expensive than UiPath, Automation Anywhere remains cost-prohibitive for many small and medium-sized businesses."
"Licensing for Automation Anywhere (AA) is paid on a yearly basis. Out of all the RPA tools, it has the most value for money, e.g. what you pay is what you get."
"UiPath is exceptionally more expensive than Automation Anywhere. UiPath is far ahead of its competition, but in terms of finances, Automation Anywhere offers better value and is more effective for organizations seeking cost-effective solutions."
"If we count the integrations that we have done with Appian, which is where a lot of our savings is from, we are well over a million dollars in savings. This is from only doing development for about a year and a half."
"Its price is competitive with all other products in the market."
"We save approximately 10,000 hours per year."
Information not available
"I am from Brazil. For Latin American markets, ServiceNow is very expensive as compared to other vendors, such as VMware."
"I would say it is moderately expensive, ranging from six to seven on a scale of ten."
"The license model is based on a number of fulfillers (active users who play some role within the ServiceNow functionality). Therefore, you can serve as many end-users as you want, without additional costs."
"I know that it's not too bad because people continue to use it and they are happy to renew up their contract."
"The price of this solution is expensive."
"Some time ago it was expensive, but large companies have special contracts. It's enterprise prices, and we're talking about millions per year."
"The solution is expensive."
"Initially, the licensing model ServiceNow came up with was very good. But now, from a licensing perspective, they are changing their model day by day. It is becoming a bit expensive for customers."
