Recognized for its lightweight configuration, Zephyr Enterprise allows for efficient test execution planning and report generation. The interface is intuitive, integrating seamlessly with other Jira tools for effective test plan design and execution. Users, drawn to its automation capabilities, leverage it for both web and mobile testing environments. However, areas such as test case version tracking, report variety, and export processes require improvement. Enhancements in security and test repository management are also noted. Primarily used for diverse test management methodologies, the transition from waterfall to agile frameworks presents challenges, yet integration with automation tools and Jira remains a strong use case.
What are the most important features? In specific industries, Zephyr Enterprise is instrumental for test management in sales and customer verification. While initially tailored for waterfall projects, its adoption in agile frameworks, coupled with Jira and automation tools, supports continuous integration practices. This adaptability makes it a viable option across multiple sectors with cost considerations prompting some to use alternative tools like DFS for specialized projects.

| Author info | Rating | Review Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Director - Quality Engineering at a financial services firm with 501-1,000 employees | 3.5 | I use Zephyr Enterprise for test management within Jira and appreciate its intuitive user experience and integration with Jira. It excels in creating test plans and cycles, though exporting test cases with attachments could be improved for better scalability. |
| QA Lead at Paytm | 3.0 | I use Zephyr Enterprise for test case management. It performs well with minimal errors, although we've encountered unclear errors during test case uploads. Overall, it meets our needs without considering alternate solutions. We haven't specified a cloud provider. |
| Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Netow Solutions Ltd | 4.0 | I use Zephyr Enterprise for test case management, but it needs an update in its reporting features. I did not consider any other solutions and have no specific ROI details or cloud provider preferences. |
| Senior software engineer at Funding Societies Pte. Ltd. | 5.0 | We primarily use Zephyr Enterprise for sales and customer verification, focusing on enhancing security measures to protect customer information. We switched from QMetry to streamline tools and reduce costs for our smaller team of engineers. |
| Manager Enterprise Applications at a retailer with 5,001-10,000 employees | 4.0 | I find Zephyr Scale a simple, stable, and scalable Jira add-on with essential features and great support. While reporting and test repository reorganization are stifling, it's a good, cost-effective starting point, easy to set up. |
| Lead Automation Architect at Contour | 3.5 | We are transitioning from DFS to Zephyr for test management due to cost. Zephyr offers good test cycles and automation integration, fulfilling our needs, but requires a custom automation utility. Its stability is good, though DFS is stronger. |
| Project Manager at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees | 4.5 | I learned Zephyr Enterprise is a lightweight, flexible, and stable test management solution, improving organizational function with good metrics. While test case versioning and default reporting could be enhanced, it's highly recommended for agile testing. |
| QA Supervisor at a financial services firm with 10,001+ employees | 2.5 | Our stable test repository integrates with automation tools, but its lack of agile/BDD support and advanced CI integration challenges our agile transition. We seek a more comprehensive solution. |
| QA Engineer at a tech vendor with 51-200 employees | 4.5 | I find Zephyr good for organizing knowledge and test execution, significantly improving testing. I miss easily seeing feature execution results in Jira, and my forum customer service experience was poor. I recommend it for organizational improvement. |
This tool boasts an incredibly user-friendly interface that integrates seamlessly with other Jira tools. I particularly appreciate its intuitive features for designing test plans, creating test cases, and executing test cycles.
Some areas for improvement, include its export capabilities. Exporting test cases, especially those with screenshots or attachments, can be cumbersome, hindering easy sharing and scalability.
I have used the solution for six years.
Neutral
I think that is an area where it can be improved since it's not easy to scale.
The support team is okay. I would rate them as maybe three out of five. It is not very straightforward. In the past, the response has been fast and the follow-ups as expected from good customer service.
Neutral
Since it's a plugin that I can directly add to my Jira platform, it doesn't take time to add it to the program. Once I add it, it's all good. I would say it takes one to two hours.
I think it's an average pricing compared to others.
I would recommend it mainly for manual testing and test management. Within Zephyrscale, they also have automated testing, however, I would recommend it only for test management.
The overall rating is seven out of ten.

We use the solution for test case management.
The solution does its job well. It doesn't have many errors.
We faced some errors while uploading the test cases. The error was not clear. We did not know what the error was.
I have been using the solution for two years.
No application is bug-free. There might be some issues.
We have 20 to 30 users in our organization.
The infrastructure team provided us with the application. I did not have to install the product.
We have used the product well. We use it for test case uploading. We created an Excel file and aligned the columns of the Excel file with the columns on the solution. It was a minimum guidance process. We can meet our requirements using the solution. We are able to do tasks without many errors. Overall, I rate the product a six or seven out of ten.

We use the solution for test case management.
Zephyr Enterprise needs to redesign the reporting.
I have been using the product for three years.
Zephyr Enterprise is stable.
My company has four users.
Zephyr Enterprise's deployment is easy.
I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

It's mostly used for sales and customer verification. We gather customer information and verify that it's a real person.
Security is always a top priority in the IT business. We would like to see improvements in the security measures to ensure that customer information is protected.
I have been using it for a few months. I am using the latest version because the tech team is always up to date with the newest releases.
It is a stable solution. I would rate the stability of this solution a nine out of ten.
We used QMetry. We switched because our IT was using too many of the previous tools, and before that, we were using a QMetry to track us by the total number of engineers. However, our operating team was only around 100-150 people, so we wanted to reduce the cost.
The initial setup is very straightforward because we just use API. We had our C.T.O. help us implement the solution.
Overall, I would rate the solution a ten out of ten.
It's very simple to use, which is beneficial.
It has 90% of the basic features you need without having to pay a lot of extra money.
The reporting, and the ability to reorganize the test repository, which are a little stifling. There is definitely room for improvement there. Those are most likely the two major areas.
It was formerly known as TM4J, or Test Management for Jira, which is now called the Zephyr Scale from SmartBear.
It's an add-on for Jira. We run Jira in the cloud in several instances, and it's a plug-in that allows us to do test and defect management within Jira, within the SmartBear product.
Zephyr Enterprise is very stable. We have a problem once a year, which is extremely rare.
It is simple to scale because you only pay by the user in the cloud.
Over the last few years, our practice has had between 100 and 200 users, We have scaled up, and we have scaled back.
We have probably used technical support for a handful of tickets, and they are responsive. I would give them an A, out of five, I would give them five.
Atlassian and Jira are two tools that we use. SmartBear is used for defect management and other similar purposes.
We want to expand our testing practice and incorporate test automation. As a result, we currently have a very limited toolset.
Inside Atlassian, I tend to focus on this tool. The SmartBear is a plug-in inside of Jira, which is an Atlassian product.
I have been working with Jira for two years. We use it to manage our backlog, and then we do defect management and defect management within Jira.
Life of the application It is not the entire life cycle. It's simply JIRA. I guess it's a standard JIRA function, nothing special about it.
It is simple to use.
It's in the cloud, and you pay per user.
The initial setup is straightforward. It's pretty much out of the box.
We don't require anyone to maintain this solution because everything is on the cloud. We have zero maintenance.
It costs a couple of thousand dollars for a little more than 125 users, per month.
I am seeking a solution for my company right now.
If they're just getting started and don't want to invest in a high-end product, they should consider it. Some of these tools are quite pricey. It's certainly worth a look at to get started, which is exactly what we did. We have been running it for a couple of years now, we'll see if we grow out of it or if we need to stick with it, but it's certainly a good starting point.
I would rate Zephyr Enterprise an eight out of ten.
We have been working with DFS for almost six or seven years. We have a lot of automation in our own framework, and DFS is supporting that framework. We have integrated DFS with our automation framework.
We moved to JIRA because of the cost. We needed a test management solution, and we are in the process of finalizing Zephyr for that. The management is yet to decide whether we move to Zephyr or continue with DFS. We are still using DFS for most of our projects. For some of the projects, we are using Zephyr. We are using continuous integration while doing the deployment to Bamboo.
It has many features, but the main things that we need are the test cycles and integration with automation because we have automation for the web and mobile applications.
We use it for test case management to run the test cases and get the results. At this moment, it is fulfilling our requirements. We are able to get the test execution report and the test pass and fail report. This summary is delivered to our management.
We have a lot of automation for our products, and we require a utility for its integration with automation. Currently, we have to write this utility ourselves. It would be great if they can provide such a utility.
We haven't had any issues so far. Its stability is good.
We haven't had any issues so far. Currently, around eight users are using Zephyr, and 50 plus users are using DFS, but they will move to Zephyr very soon.
I have not contacted them.
We have been working with DFS for almost six or seven years. We moved to JIRA because of the cost. We needed a test management solution, and we have almost finalized Zephyr for that.
DFS is more expensive than Zephyr, but it is a very strong solution. For JIRA, in comparison to other solutions, such as TestRail, Zephyr is good, but it is not as good as DFS.
The DevOps team and the network team are basically responsible for the setup of all such things. The initial setup was done by them. I just recommended the solution with the pros and cons.
DFS is more expensive than Zephyr. DFS is around $32 per person, whereas Zephyr is $10 per person. There is a major difference in the price, which is the main reason why we are trying to shift to Zephyr.
My advice is to go for a tool that meets or fulfills your needs. I am currently exploring how to shift the test cases from DFS to JIRA or Zephyr. If we decide to go with Zephyr, we have around 3,000 to 4,000 test cases written in DFS that need to be shifted to Zephyr.
I would rate Zephyr Enterprise a seven out of ten.
We use Zephyr Enterprise for the entire testing process from beginning to end.
Zephyr Enterprise has improved how our organization functions. In the guide itself, they give us different kinds of processes that can be implemented. There is the mature process, the initiated process, and the over the structure process.
The guidance is already there and the process depends on the organization's needs. With a mature process, you can get a lot of test metrics out of it. I would say our organization wanted the highest maturity process.
In terms of its most valuable features, Zephyr is very lightweight and flexible. It is flexible in terms of the kind of the linkages it can do, the variety of updates, how everyone can see it, and how you can mail it.
Additionally, because of its capability for multiple users and multiple things happening simultaneously, people really get a good world view of what is going on, including the updates. Plus, all of this happens quickly.
Finally, the kind of reports that it generates is great.
Their version of test cases can be improved. Right now, all updates just get the latest version. But there is no version in the test cases. You can only know the version based on your comparison. In other words, the test case versioning is not there. I think Red Quality Center does give a versioning of use cases. This aspect can definitely be improved.
Additionally, they could improve the daily reporting. It does generate reports, but they are screen based reports. It would be good if they enhanced the default reports with a variety of reports that every organization would need. Customization can be done, but creating better default varieties of reporting would make the product much better and more popular.
I have been using Zephyr Enterprise for about six months.
In terms of stability, it is stable. I didn't experience any instability.
The product is scalable. I don't have the exact number, but many people are using it in our organization.
I didn't do the setup, I only used it, so I don't know about that. However, after using it, I found it really intuitive.
If anyone is looking for a good, lightweight, flexible and agile test management product, I think they would do very well with Zephyr Enterprise.
It can be implemented at whatever stage they are in improving their testing process, gradually getting into a high-security test process. In that way, it is flexible, easy to adopt, and quickly understood.
I like the product very much. On a scale of one to ten, I would give Zephyr Enterprise a nine.
Test repository is our primary usage. It was working fine, especially with the waterfall approach. With waterfall products, it worked but now we are transitioning to an agile model. This is where we are having challenges, and one of the reasons that we are looking for a different tool.
Earlier test artifacts used to be maintained either in a shared drive or somewhere in Excel spreadsheet. Now, we are getting consolidated reports in one place. We have all our metrics and repository together, and this is helpful.
It has integration with test automation tools. Our test automation is very important to us.
We would like support for the agile and behavior-driven development (BDD) approaches.
The product is good and stable.
Scalability is okay. I have heard Zephyr Enterprise will be coming out with a cloud version which will be able to scale to a large size.
The technical support is good.
For the related features it supports, on a scale of one to 10, it is around a seven. The features have support, but it is minimal today. We are looking for advanced support with integration to CI tools. This is something which Zephyr does not have today.
I was not involved in the initial setup.
The vendors currently on our shortlist are Zephyr, Micro Focus, JIRA, and qTest.
Look for a global solution which fits enterprise-wide and has a good dashboard. It should include metrics at all levels and have quality at every stage in the lifecycle. If a tool can fit these criteria, it will be a good option.
Most important criteria when selecting a vendor: These days, we are looking for the following:
The only thing I have missed is an easy way to configure showing the latest execution results of all test cases linked in JIRA (story/epic), thus, receiving the state of a feature.
One year.
No. I didn't use Zephyr when account issues with JIRA cloud occurred this spring.
No.
Actually, I've never used the support. I asked the question in some forum, but didn't receive answers. If that forum is the support, it gets a bad rate.
TestLink. Switched because Zephyr has:
I used the system after it was already configured and integrated.
I advised my current team to start using it. I have no idea about the pricing.
No.
Don't take in mind only the price, this product really improves your organization.
