Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

Remote design work has become smoother and adapts intelligently to changing bandwidth
The best features of Rocket Exceed TurboX are that it works reasonably well and is easy to set up. As the admin, I set up the server and tested it with different bandwidths. The solution performs better than VNC, though there is still lag in the one Mbps to four Mbps range. Rocket Exceed TurboX automatically adjusts the resolution according to the program that is running, which is their intellectual property. This intelligent adjustment is a significant advantage compared to VNC, where I had to set it to the lowest setting with poor resolution to achieve acceptable performance.

Simple to set up, reasonable pricing, and useful remote control capabilities
I'm on the latest version of the solution. I just updated it yesterday. While we have the solution on-premises at this time, we'll likely move to the cloud later this year. They have a trial version that you can try. They have a free version that you can try as well. I use it myself to support my family. I would try the free version or the trial version depending on your business. They can set you up and you can get to see all the features. I would also advocate going to the cloud version. Don't bother with the on-prem. It's just easier to jump to the cloud. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is very easy for me to configure all the things. Once I create policies and applications in Intune, it is very easy for us to enroll users."
"Microsoft Intune has improved endpoint visibility, simplified remote device management, and helped standardize security policies across both corporate and remote devices."
"...Intune itself integrates with that entire Microsoft ecosystem. As an individual product itself, it's okay. It holds up. But when you start saying "I've bought this as part of a wider solution, as a company we are going Microsoft throughout," then it makes more sense to have Microsoft Intune... so you have that single dashboard."
"The thing I appreciate most about Microsoft Intune is that the management of the devices was very simplified."
"Microsoft Intune is easy to use, and it is able to enforce policies towards multiple devices. It is able to bring multiple classes of devices into the same security posture. I found that very useful."
"Microsoft Intune is a scalable, secure, and cost-effective endpoint management solution that aligns with modern workplace needs."
"Intune provides a centralized management solution, although its suitability depends on specific needs and comparisons with alternatives like Jamf, Kandji, or ManageEngine."
"I really appreciate the features in Microsoft Intune, including the Intune Suite Cloud PKI."
"This product is great, it's easy to use and it can solve certain problems our remote users face, as employees in other cities and countries can easily access it and the solution is perfect for Linux users."
"The most helpful feature of OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is that it allows you to consume heavy applications that usually have a lot of latency. I also like that the solution is fast and has a friendly UI."
"The best features of Rocket Exceed TurboX are that it works reasonably well and is easy to set up."
"The solution is perfect for Linux users."
"Recently I needed to remotely access the software at my office, and I was able to connect using the software and access the information I needed within a minute or two, rather than having to drive to the office to get into the computer system."
"If you are looking for a quick and easy web-based connection session without the need to be on intranet, then this is the solution for you."
"I am overall satisfied with the product."
"I am able to support our remote users; this has been a great help."
"In terms of pricing, this has been the most affordable, reliable and convenient remote assistance software/service that I have come across."
"The unattended access functionality is a valuable feature, because I can go in at any time that I want, deploy fixes, or do maintenance."
"Their licensing model is good, their pricing model is good, their service is good, bandwidth is excellent."
"It has been a game-changer for my workflow."

Cons

"There needs to be more support for Mac operating systems."
"They should make it easier to order it, however, that's generally true for everything from Microsoft."
"I would like to see better integration with Microsoft. There are a few things I can still do with Jamf that I am unable to do with Intune yet."
"We face multiple scenarios where IT decision-makers request specific policy implementations, however, due to product limitations, we cannot fulfill these requests."
"We have spoken to the technical support on a few occasions. They have only ever provided us with minimal information."
"In Microsoft Intune, error messages are an area that has room for improvement. Regarding error messages, I would like to see more detailed logs added."
"It would be interesting to integrate the server side of Intune. Some group policy updates we have on the Windows Server side and possibly some on the client side could also be included."
"From my level of analysis, the feature I would prefer to see added to Microsoft Intune is extensive support. Anything that helps to diagnose the problem and solve it would be useful."
"It seems to work better than the original solution, but it still does not meet the standards I wanted."
"The performance of the graphical interface needs improvement. They should add some CPU to speed graphic acceleration."
"An area for improvement in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is the installation process because you need some technical knowledge to install it. What's lacking in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is a help portal for users to ask questions and seek assistance."
"We have concerns about network speed and security settings."
"The username is automatically generated by ScreenConnect and you can't choose it."
"Speed is a major factor in Automate, and the control panel is horribly slow."
"There is an issue which is pretty rare, but I find it at least when connecting from my mobile device. I am forced to refresh the screen by changing the screen quality to get screen updates. This only happens sometimes."
"Reporting could definitely use improvement."
"I would like to see more overlap, meaning, I would like to be able to see what processes are running on a computer, for example, or what services are running."
"There can be some complexities when running patches or when building up all the profiles, making them areas where improvements are required."
"There needs to be a way to run the agent without installing, like GoToAssist."
"I really didn't care for the onboarding process and it is something that should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"It's a bit expensive from a licensing perspective, especially as we look to have organizations with tenants across the globe."
"It is not expensive."
"We don't pay for Intune because it is bundled with the premium subscription to Office 365. It includes Intune and Defender. I don't have to buy two extra products to manage my enterprise."
"In terms of the product price and licensing costs, my company finds the product to be reasonably priced."
"Licensing depends on how you are providing support to your enterprise, whether it's device-based or user-based."
"The product is relatively pricey, but considering its benefits, I'd say it's fair. The benefits outweigh the expensive licensing fees, especially for large organizations, but medium-sized and smaller businesses may be unable to afford it."
"The Intune license model is costly."
"Pricing for OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is five out of ten. It's not that expensive, and it's not that affordable."
"It is priced fairly."
"Make sure you have enough licensing for all the techs that you have."
"We pay $3,000 USD for the service, yearly upfront."
"I think the product's pricing is a good value. I paid $600 a year and that was fine for me. It was about $50 a month. Licensing is all very straightforward."
"It is priced well and it is still a great value. Although I have been reading a lot about Splashtop. They are getting pretty competitive on their pricing, including a fairly easy to use remote support for mobile applications, like iOS and Android."
"The cloud version is relatively inexpensive, but the on-premise version is expensive if you do not need three technicians, only one or two for concurrent sessions."
"Good price and works well."
"ConnectWise Control is not an overly expensive tool. Its pricing is reasonable."
