Internal communication has become more efficient while mobile usage still needs improvement
The honest answer is that the product has not really evolved in some time. Microsoft has been pushing everyone towards Teams and Skype for Business has been in maintenance mode for a while. The mobile experience is also not great. Staff who try to use it on their phones find it less reliable than the desktop version, calls drop more, and the interface is clunky. For a modern workforce that expects everything to work on mobile, that is a gap. Despite the initial setup challenges and mobile issues, we have noticed positive outcomes for our organization since adopting Skype for Business. I rate Skype for Business seven out of ten. I think that Skype for Business has served us well for what it is. A government office has different expectations from a fast-moving private company. We value stability and security over the newest features. On those terms, Skype for Business has delivered.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ReadyTalk is a very user friendly tool."
"Recording live webinars and having our recurring demo webinar scheduled out in advance and all synced to Marketo has been indispensable."
"Our webinar program was floundering, but after I started working with ReadyTalk, we have been able to increase the number of webinars, these webinars have successively attracted higher quality presenters and have become a real marketing tool for our association."
"Using ReadyTalk has strengthened our webinar program at AMA."
"Customer Service is the best."
"They have a great deployment team."
"We have recovered the 6 to 8 (agonizing) hours a month we used to spend with another platform's tech support."
"Chairperson controls are pretty user-friendly."
"The stability was good; there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and it's reliable."
"You can do meetings of up to two hundred people in a single conversation."
"We have noticed positive outcomes for our organization since adopting Skype for Business, including improvements in efficiency and reduced costs."
"The performance is pretty good, this is a mature application with no bugs, and I have no complaints."
"The quality of the meetings is very good."
"I like the fact that it opens up your video conferencing, and, in many cases, the audio at the same time."
"The most valuable feature of Skype for Business is overall it is an okay solution."
"Skype for Business is good for meetings and instant messaging."

Cons

"You have to download a spreadsheet three times post-meeting if you want surveys, registration, attendance. Kind of tedious."
"A few minor issues along the way."
"One great feature they can add is the ability to use animations within your slides."
"Would love to have a calendar (much like Outlook offers) that included scheduled appointments."
"The aesthetics are not great."
"We'd like the joining process for presenters to be more seamless (and they are working on that)."
"I wish there wasn't the "arbitrary" 150 people cutoff."
"Compared to other webinar platforms, ReadyTalk's pricing is a bit high."
"Sometimes the connection crashes, which is understandable if you are traveling. But, it would be nice if this could be stabilized somehow."
"The video quality could be improved, possibly due to internet connection issues."
"I am not familiar with all of the features or whether they can hold conferences because we use Zoom for that. But, in my opinion, if they can do something similar to what Zoom is doing, it will be a complete solution."
"The challenge we had with Skype for Business was with the signing in when a user signed out and when signing in back in again, there was a bit of a problem. We switched from Skype for Business to Teams, and Teams never had that sign-in problem once we did the switch."
"The integration with Outlook could be improved."
"There are issues with the bandwidth, particularly for external meetings,"
"The cost of Skype for Business has room for improvement."
"Lacks a zoom-in feature for whoever is presenting."

"Skype for Business' pricing is reasonable."
"We negotiated a fair price with Microsoft. It is definitely worthwhile to negotiate with them for the best price for your solution."
