Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

We've used it for traditional help desk and defect tracking endeavors

Pega is a low-code platform that enables organizations to build, automate, and optimize business processes and customer experiences through AI-powered decisioning and workflow automation.
Here are the key areas where Pega Platform could be improved: 1. User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) Customization Limitations: The UI layer is tightly coupled with the platform, limiting flexibility for custom front-end development. Constellation Architecture: While it improves consistency, it restricts advanced UI customizations compared to older section-based designs. Learning Curve: Non-technical users find the UI unintuitive despite the low-code promise. 2. Integration & Extensibility Limited Out-of-the-Box Integrations: Users report challenges integrating with non-relational databases and legacy systems. Robotics Integration: Pega RPA (formerly OpenSpan) is not seamlessly integrated with BPM, creating silos in automation. 3. AI & Decisioning AI Capabilities Need Maturity: Users expect more advanced, native AI features without relying on external tools. CDH & Decision Hub: While powerful, these components require deep expertise to configure effectively. 4. Cost & Licensing High Licensing Costs: Pega is often seen as expensive, especially for small and mid-sized enterprises. Lack of Flexible Pricing Models: Calls for subscription-based or usage-based pricing to improve accessibility. 5. Performance & Scalability Scalability Concerns: Some users report performance degradation with large user bases or complex workflows. Upgrade Complexity: Platform upgrades can be time-consuming and disruptive if not planned well. 6. Documentation & Community Support Insufficient Learning Resources: Especially for advanced features, documentation is limited and community support is not as strong as competitors. Talent Availability: Finding skilled Pega professionals remains a challenge in many regions. 7. Low-Code/No-Code Experience Not Fully No-Code: Despite branding, some tasks still require technical intervention, and the drag-and-drop interface can be restrictive 2. Conflict Management: Simultaneous development by multiple users can lead to rule conflicts.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The ROI is very good because the output is very accurate and the speed is very fast."
"The most valuable thing about using this product is that we are able to use the time that we spent doing manual processing for other progressive purposes."
"The saving of efforts within my project has been to the tune of 20% as of now and I am sure that it will improve as we explore the tool more and automate many more processes."
"One good thing in A2019 is that all products of Automation Anywhere, like IQBOT services, Meta Bot Designer, Discovery Bot, and Control room are all together in one product which is very effective for any business team."
"Automation Anywhere is very easy to handle because it is a low-code platform, so anyone can learn very quickly."
"It is easy to automate SAP by using Cloning and Metabot."
"It has saved our HR department time since this process automatically happens without anybody's intervention. Our HR department is able to devote their time to more productive work or activities. It has also saved a lot of costs since every employee in the HR department is involved in the attendance and payroll process. Second, the process is now no more human dependent."
"In some cases, we see savings on the order of $100,000 and, in the newer processes that we are trying to do, it may be up to $1,000,000."
"There was a significant ROI, as the development of weekly metrics from Excel spreadsheets, Lotus Notes databases, Access databases, and some Word documents went from a two to three day affair to a process that now takes seconds."
"Allows us to automate work flows to provision IS services."
"Estimates from all teams are visible in one general ticket (PFC)."
"The Composer is absolutely a magical tool, allowing you to get a fully functional app based on your process sketch in a couple of hours, without knowing BPMN notation."
"The user interface and the ease of developing the workflow for an application are valuable features."
"The platform as a whole is very rich - you can do a lot of things with it with minimum time and cost."
"It's a good tool for workflow automation."
"It is a stable product."
"The solution offers excellent workflows."
"Overall, Pega 8 is a good platform with improvement."
"The solution is operating well overall."
"The visualization of the business process and the collaboration aspects of the solution are its most valuable features."

Cons

"There is room for improvement when this application is used in a Citrix-based environment."
"One thing with the bot that we are always struggling with is the memory management."
"As far as the stability is concerned, some unknown errors do occur. While I am sure the Automation Anywhere is working to improve this, there is room for improvement."
"Automation Anywhere is troublesome for some people because of the way it is organized."
"Going on-cloud comes with security hiccups and concerns."
"An option should be provided to disable the flow and dual-mode since those are not used often by the developers, and hence take up extra space on the screen."
"The scripting can be a bit difficult."
"Cloud was one of the features we wanted to see, because it makes it much easier. The second feature is ease of use in terms of agnostic operating system."
"Response time could improve."
"Reporting is generally very good, but people always want more."
"User interface and links between tickets. For me, Jira is the ideal tool."
"PegaRULES should provide a more drag-and-drop interface to make it a low-code, no-code product."
"Pega Platform has a good reputation with its move into Pega GenAI, but there are times it slows down the systems when I have used the personal editions."
"Robotics could improve, as my learning curve in robotics has been challenging."
"The unit testing needs to improve, as well as the user interface."
"If it could also be integrated with robotics, it could help with a lot of things, even if we don't have APIs, we could still talk to other applications. If it could invoke a bot, for example."
"Pega should work on redefining their model and creating a demand for their skills."
"What PegaRULES should work on is the integration aspect. I can integrate it with other platforms, but that can take time. It would be good if integration could be automated or if the tool had more out-of-the-box integration features."
"The licensing model of Pega BPM is tricky, especially for first-time customers, so it's something that they could improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of Automation Anywhere is high in Turkey due to the weak economy."
"The price is very reasonable."
"If we count the integrations that we have done with Appian, which is where a lot of our savings is from, we are well over a million dollars in savings. This is from only doing development for about a year and a half."
"If I compare it with Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere is cheaper. Blue Prism is very costly. Automation Anywhere's pricing follows the market, not less and not more."
"Automation Anywhere falls within a mid-range price point when compared to other RPA tools on the market."
"I am not sure about the costs, but two Bot Runners and four Bot Creators may cost approximately 1CR."
"The initial setup and licensing fees are high, and although it saves costs in the long run, reaching the break-even point can take at least six months."
"Costs savings have been seen by employing bots for multiple shifts instead of people."
Information not available
"Licensing is expensive. You need to wisely select between per user and per case."
"The price of Pega BPM is in the middle range compared to other solutions."
"May be somewhat more expensive than other solutions initially, but should have enhanced return on investment."
"The costing model for Pega BPM is different. One is a license that you can pay yearly. Another licensing model for Pega BPM is based on the number of cases you create in production in a year. Costing based on use cases is also available for Pega BPM. I don't have information on its exact pricing or costs, though."
"It is cost-effective for medium enterprises. It is cheaper than ServiceNow."
"The licensing is on a yearly basis. Because of our special relationship, all the training certifications are free of cost. All our employees can do Pega certifications at zero cost. It is all on Pega."
"Pega BPM is expensive because it's a leading product, but it also delivers a good return on investment (ROI)."
"The product pricing is considered reasonable compared to other solutions in the market."
