Integrated pipelines have improved enterprise deployments and now automate secure dependency flows
Regarding improvements for JFrog Artifactory, I remember that the documentation was more focused on the on-premises JFrog version. I was mostly redirected toward that, so I found a lack of specific or clear documentation on using JFrog Artifactory with AWS. I felt this gap two years ago, and there were capabilities such as X-ray or integrations with other AWS features that I found lacking at the time. I do not have much more to say about the needed improvements in integration or documentation, but I want to mention that, coming from a quality background, I think built-in quality gates for intelligent automation, vulnerability checks, or improved visibility and communication during slow responses or service downtime would be useful for visibility in distributed environments. Looking back, I think the learning curve for JFrog Artifactory could be eased, and the installation process could feel less overwhelming. While it is not that difficult, I have seen new joiners struggle with the initial setup. I think JFrog Artifactory could improve with some UX revamps since many tools these days provide very intuitive user experiences, and I believe that could be something to look into for the future.

Enables us to prioritize and effectively address critical security issues
Evidence-based reporting helps us to prioritize and solve critical security issues. The new visualization feature demonstrates how an attacker can enter the system, highlighting the potential path that can be exploited and outlining all the steps the attacker could take. With that visibility, we can ensure the perimeter is strong and attackers cannot enter, thus reducing the risk. It has helped us prioritize issues. The visibility into how an attack could happen is valuable. For example, it highlights the system vulnerability and outlines where an attack could propagate. The visualization helps me to prioritize remediation, and if I don't know where to start, I can check to see the score that enables me to prioritize issues. I am using infrastructure-as-code scanning, and it's one of the useful features. In pre-production, it identifies embedded secrets and misconfigurations, including issues with Kubernetes or some privileged containers. This feature allows us to pass the audit and secure IaC code so that it isn't easily exploitable by attackers. We can more proactively work to identify and resolve vulnerabilities by using the dashboard and the alerting system that SentinelOne provides. It helps us with audits and compliance. We can show the compliance in percentage. We can confidently say that our company or infrastructure is very secure. It has improved our security posture by 30% to 35%. It has reduced our false positives by 30%. It has helped teams collaborate better. The security team manages SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security, and when it flags vulnerabilities, they are forwarded to DevOps for remediation. Previously, we needed to identify and report the issues, but there would be lapses in communication. Now, there is a centralized dashboard that anyone can look at and see the open issues and work on them.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The feature that I like is Permission Targets. If I want to give permission to only deploy the cache, I can give that permission to a set of users. Similarly, if I want to overwrite an artifact with the same name from the same pipeline, I can give permission for that as well to particular users."
"For the most part, it's pretty stable."
"The most valuable feature is that it is a centralized repository and that you can open multiple repositories for different types of artifacts."
"The package registries have been helpful. GitLab, our previous solution, wasn't managing that well."
"The core functionality is most valuable for indexing and metadata of all the artifacts, but within the last year or two, we've been using the Projects feature, which has been very helpful. We can now assign individual admins for different projects and repos so that they can self-manage their own user permissions for their data. My IT DevOps team doesn't have to be the facilitators of that. It's now more of a self-service capability for them."
"The most valuable feature I have found is the JFrog CLI."
"HPE was using it for a lot of things, and they certainly had a massive implementation."
"We really appreciate the Slack integration. When we have an incident, we get an instant notification. We also use Joe Sandbox, which Singularity can integrate with, so we can verify if a threat is legitimate."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its storyline, which helps trace an event back to its source, like an email or someone clicking on a link."
"The compliance monitoring feature of SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security gives us a report with a compliance score to ensure we meet certain regulatory standards."
"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security released a new security graph tool that helps us identify the root issue. Other tools give you a pass/fail type of profile on all misconfigurations, and those will run into the thousands. SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security's graphing algorithm connects various components together and tries to identify what is severe and what is not. It can correlate various vulnerabilities and datasets to test them on the back end to pinpoint the real issue."
"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security offers three key features: vulnerability management notifications, cloud configuration assistance, and security scanning."
"The ease of use of the platform is very nice."
"Cloud Native Security is a tool that has good monitoring features."
"The most valuable feature is the easy-to-understand user interface, which allows even non-technical users to comprehend and resolve issues."

Cons

"The latest version that I am using is 7.41. It has been upgraded graphics-wise, but there is a bit of slowness. They can improve the graphical interface for the admin jobs and make it faster."
"It's an enterprise product that acts like an enterprise product. In other words, it's not a product where they focus on user experience. I wasn't an administrator, so I primarily worked with the command line tool to upload and download parts of the product. I was not impressed with that because it wasn't well documented. It was challenging to figure out how to get things to work."
"The documentation is a bit sparse. That's our only complaint."
"We're looking for something that has additional reporting capabilities on data growth and data aging. This goes back to storage lifecycle management so that the actual Artifactory itself can provide these reports to either the administrators or the users. I don't know if it has those capabilities. That's something we have to look into regarding the self-service dashboard, but the tool itself having those capabilities would be great rather than trying to do it at the underlying storage hardware layer."
"Sometimes the documentation was sort of messy because there are many possibilities for where and how to install Artifactory."
"In some of the latest versions of JFrog's SaaS solution, they changed the user interface, the SSO settings, how you interact with them over API, and how you generate tokens. It was very confusing for me. The overall user management is very complicated."
"I would like to see written technical support instead of having to contact them directly."
"The Infrastructure as Code service available in SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security and the services available in AWS cloud security can be merged so that we can get the security data directly from AWS cloud in SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security. This way, all the data related to security will be in one single place. Currently, we have to check a couple of things on SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security, and we have to validate that same data on the AWS Cloud to be sure. If they can collaborate like that, it will be great."
"The first downside of SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security was the onboarding process, which was very challenging and took a lot of time."
"There is room for improvement in application security posture management features, and SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security is on the costlier side."
"The area of improvement is the cost, which is high compared to other traditional endpoint protections."
"To enhance the notification system's efficiency, resolved issues should be promptly removed from the portal."
"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security has limited legacy system support and may not fully support older operating systems or legacy environments."
"Whenever I view the processes and the process aspect, it takes a long time to load."
"It took us a while to configure the software to work well in this type of environment, as the support documents were not always clear."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a bit expensive. It could be a little bit lower or have an a la carte option because, in our case, we had to go to the next version of Enterprise X because we needed one feature, which was more than three projects. We don't need all the other capabilities, but we're paying for all those. It's almost twice the cost of the previous version. So, it would be nice to have something along those lines."
"I am not aware of its cost, but it is worth investing in this. My guess is that its price is not much because we generally prefer open-source solutions, and if we are investing, we don't go for expensive ones. Our selection is based on the market demand and needs, and we invest only if something is worth the cost."
"I understand that SentinelOne is a market leader, but the bill we received was astronomical."
"It is not that expensive. There are some tools that are double the cost of PingSafe. It is good on the pricing side."
"SentinelOne provided competitive pricing compared to other vendors, and we are satisfied with the deal."
"PingSafe is priced reasonably for our workload."
"PingSafe falls somewhere in the middle price range, neither particularly cheap nor expensive."
"Singularity Cloud Workload Security's pricing is good."
"The cost for PingSafe is average when compared to other CSPM tools."
"The pricing is somewhat high compared to other market tools."
