Jose Pedro Muñoz - PeerSpot reviewer
A very strong and powerful tool in the market preferred by a variety of industries
I rate the technical support a seven out of ten. Three levels of support in IBM. The first one is a fixed level, while levels two and three are very good. Here, level one is not very good, as it takes time to go from level one to level two and from level two to level three. So, level one is of low capacity.

Centralized alert management with customizable routing and superior scheduling
Everything can always be better. Operations are somewhat limited by their integration package. For example, integrating with Jira was problematic until they updated to a better plug-in. The ability to build customized modules would be advantageous, allowing organizations to define their own integration modules. It would be useful to have a way to define all configurations in code that is similar to how Terraform operates.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is asset management maintenance as well as asset management overall."
"The most valuable features of IBM Maximo are the overall power and interface, and there are a lot of different modules that we use that are helpful. Additionally, it's an integrated solution and it has a lot of capabilities."
"Provides great flexibility."
"Work order management and scalability enables the businesses' needs to be met."
"There are not many enterprise asset management systems on the market and not many that have the categories that IBM Maximo has."
"The Preventive Maintenance feature, especially in its inspection routines and KPI abilities, is valuable."
"It is configurable, where you can add extra fields to screens and to the database."
"IBM Maximo is the best software for assets management."
"I'd rate the solution ten out of ten."
"It reduces the amount of white noise. If something comes through, then it will alert somebody. However, if it's a bit of white noise that comes through at night, then it gets dealt with the next day. Everything is visible to everybody. It's not just a single person getting an SMS, then going, "Oh, I'm not going to worry about that." The visibility to everybody on the team is one of the great things about it because it reduces the white noise."
"PagerDuty let us set up rosters based on our shifts. We could assign a hierarchy for how the calls should be escalated and the number of times the call will be transferred between people before it is answered. It makes it easy to access an agent via mobile phone."
"The most valuable features of PagerDuty are customization, access, policies, and different rules regarding the path of escalation. Additionally, it's easy to use and create overrides. For example, if you all are on a call for one week each, but somebody wants to go on PTO, the team needs to swap shifts in PagerDuty. This is easy to do by creating overrides to switch up the set schedules. It's very user-friendly in that aspect. It works well for monitoring and alerting."
"PagerDuty is very stable and very reliable."
"PagerDuty's best features are the dedicated application that allows me to reach my engineers immediately and the ability to directly assign specific tasks to individuals and have them report back."
"The inbound integrations that PagerDuty provides with most of the DevOps tools are valuable."
"The product easily integrates with other solutions."

Cons

"The mobile solution has a lot of room for improvement, especially in geopositioning capabilities, tracking capabilities, and configuration capabilities, in order to let the tech operate online and offline."
"Could use some alignment regarding some standards and the tracking of the IT assets. Even though they have all of the information (i.e. where are the assets, who owns the asset, etc.), they were not mapping it to different cyber standards."
"The standard reports that shipped with the package need to be enriched with more advanced reports, especially for the Inventory Management sections."
"You can get lost using the application"
"Although you can create notifications with Maximo, the configuration and options could be improved."
"Revision management of file attachments."
"Vendor management needs enhancement."
"Initial setup is a longer process because Maximo is bigger and has more processes."
"PagerDuty can improve the integration with Terraform."
"I would like to see more content in the notification messages; although, that might be a configuration on our end."
"It cannot be integrated with our upgraded Jira system."
"The solution does not code all alerts correctly so sometimes you get false positives or multiple alerts for the same issue."
"This solution works best in conjunction with a proper logging system, which can be an additional cost to organizations."
"I am not a direct end user of PagerDuty. It's hard to consider its shortcomings in that sense."
"The product can be improved by including out-of-the-box integration with other standard tools used in our fields such as Confluence, and Jira."
"PagerDuty could improve the event orchestration by enhancing features, such as easier condition setup inside the orchestration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Explore internal processes in order to evaluate the correct number of users in each Maximo module, then evaluate the different offers of pricing and licensing."
"I do not know about the price of the solution. However, this has been an expensive project overall."
"You pay for what you get. There are lots of options depending on how you would like to implement Maximo."
"The concurrent user license is much more effective in management and cost-wise, as it is more suitable for maintenance management."
"The price of IBM Maximo could reduce, it is expensive."
"$USD700 per agent user."
"IBM has changed the licensing policy. As I understand now, they are going from a complex way of licensing to a more simple way of licensing."
"Where available, concurrent licenses can be more cost efficient and provide more flexibility."
"PagerDuty has monthly and yearly licenses available, the costs of which can get quite high if you have a large number of users."
"If we wanted phone calls or additional SMSs, we would have to pitch up for those. They give us so many per month per user, then we have to pay extra if it goes over that."
"They're very good in pricing compared to the competitors in the area. I would rate them a five out of five in terms of pricing."
"The cost is based on the package you select."
"If you add more people, then you have to pay more, which is always a thing with the SaaS solutions."
"Licensing costs are around $700 a month, and the only additional costs, are phone costs in some instances."
"The pricing may be about $1,000 per user."
"The solution is paid on a monthly basis and represents about 1% of the platform's budget."
