Effortless upgrades with one-click feature while new server deployment needs a smoother process
I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers…

Has integrated solutions and rapid recovery made management smoother and more reliable
There is the latest update from HPE regarding HPE SimpliVity. For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V. Recently, HPE declared the VM essential virtualization solution. In the future, if HPE integrates HPE SimpliVity with VM essential, that will be a great combination. Functionality-wise, I am totally satisfied with HPE SimpliVity, but for improvement, if HPE integrates its own virtualization solution, this combination and integration will be beneficial because this integration can be configured with the cloud-based system. A VM can be uploaded to the cloud from this, which will be advantageous for backup to other sites.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"HPE's InfoSight software, which does the comparative analysis and artificial intelligence built-in in the box, and with Nimble they do well against the competition. Additionally, the dashboards are good."
"HPE Alletra dHCI was good because we could have the vVols, which we are using for our production server, with the snapshots."
"The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers easily."
"The nice thing about it is that it truly integrates with the cloud, so I can move my volumes bi-directionally in and out of the cloud."
"Simply being able to move objects and the duplication feature have been quite effective."
"The solution is easy to use."
"It is easier to manage compared to the other vendors."
"The integration of AI tools for predictive analysis sets it apart from competitors."
"Its performance and availability are most valuable."
"HPE SimpliVity is scalable. Some 200 people at my organization are using this solution at present."
"We use the Omnicubes to replicate our data to a second datacenter. By having our company data on the Omnicubes, we ensure that all of our data is constantly replicated within the defined intervals to the remote site."
"No SAN switches and having a native backup is pretty cool."
"Stability is pretty good. We have no complaints as it has been running seamlessly with no downtime."
"The solution is very stable."
"The most valuable feature for us is its integration, as it provides an entire solution in a single box."
"The scalability is its most valuable feature. It's also able to do stretch clustering."

Cons

"Sometimes the technical support would get back to us in two hours, but other times it would take them two or even three days to respond."
"It can be made cheaper."
"Nimble Storage's integration with the management software could be better."
"The product is expensive."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI currently is promoting only VMware as a hypervisor, whereas if they can look into other OSs, such as KVM or Red Hat, it would be an improvement."
"I would like the HPE Alletra dHCI to provide options to install products separately."
"Their documentation needs to be simpler to read yet more detailed so it's easy to compare models and easier for clients to pick."
"I can tier my data in different storage on the cloud, but I cannot tier the data with HPE Alletra dHCI."
"I wish to see an improved compute node selection, to allow us to select something other than merely the two socket system."
"For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V."
"The initial setup was complex. It took a few months to integrate and adapt to the new platform."
"SimpliVity has this thing where if a virtual machine is on the wrong node with two nodes, it will be optimized. However, if one of the nodes won't be optimized, then it will complain about that. It will give you a little warning to say the source is not optimized. Please move this to one of the other hosts. They should just add a little thing in SimpliVity to move all the VMs to the right host, because it is a pain to load balance across the three nodes when all these VMs are complaining and you have to move them to one."
"I would love it if the solution would auto data balance within the cluster. It is possible, and eventually, it will be likely that certain nodes within the same cluster will hold more data than the other nodes."
"The compatibility with other products needs an improvement."
"The stability and scalability of the product are areas of concern where improvements are required."
"Not a lean architecture in terms of anything."

"The product licensing costs vary depending on whether VMware or other solutions are used."
"The price of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is expensive."
"The customers have found the solution to be expensive. However, when compared to the competition the price is reasonable."

"The product is costly."
"The prices are very high."
"The solution can be expensive if you are using a lot of nodes."
"Cost of this product is high."
"HPE SimpliVity is much more affordable than Nutanix or VMware vSAN...The first pair of servers was about 90,000 EUR, including three years of warranty. It is 30,000 EUR per year."
"Cost is a factor. It is quite expensive."
"It has helped to reduce our VMware licensing costs due to host consolidation."
"For three years, it is $60,000 for three nodes. It is quite pricey."
"Customers always complain that SimpliVity is a little bit higher in price point as compared to other solutions available in the market."
"I think it's a complete package. We buy the license with support for five years. It's a subscription, I will say, but it's included when you buy the SimpliVity solution from HPE. You have a contract with the software warranty and upgrades."
