Effortless upgrades with one-click feature while new server deployment needs a smoother process
I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers…

Has integrated solutions and rapid recovery made management smoother and more reliable
There is the latest update from HPE regarding HPE SimpliVity. For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V. Recently, HPE declared the VM essential virtualization solution. In the future, if HPE integrates HPE SimpliVity with VM essential, that will be a great combination. Functionality-wise, I am totally satisfied with HPE SimpliVity, but for improvement, if HPE integrates its own virtualization solution, this combination and integration will be beneficial because this integration can be configured with the cloud-based system. A VM can be uploaded to the cloud from this, which will be advantageous for backup to other sites.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Nimble DHCI is really user friendly and not complex"
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI's user interface is very easy to work with."
"We have the ability to increase the storage without any additional costs."
"We have this feature in Nimble dHCI, wherein we can upgrade individual components in the infrastructure."
"The solution is easy to use."
"Nimble Storage is a capable platform with high availability."
"HPE Alletra dHCI was good because we could have the vVols, which we are using for our production server, with the snapshots."
"The nice thing about it is that it truly integrates with the cloud, so I can move my volumes bi-directionally in and out of the cloud."
"The HCI concept by itself is the most valuable feature of the solution. It is a full-fledged HCI. It is the main component. I think this is what makes the project valuable."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use and the storage virtualization layer, together with the built-in backups."
"The most valuable aspect of the HPE SimpliVity is the DL380 G10. We have mostly been using VMware and Hyper-V. On one side we have Hyper-V and the other side we have the VMware."
"It has been performing well. It was more than what we expected."
"The pricing of the solution is very good."
"The most valuable features are replication and backup."
"SimpliVity works well in a UAT environment.."
"The access, high availability, and interface are the most valuable and important for us. There is one interface for the whole product, which is very important because you have a single pane to view all the infrastructure of a customer. You can improve your data recovery plan or DRP, or you can make a special emergency plan if a disk has any problem."

Cons

"The product does not support file services."
"The product's active controller feature needs improvement."
"Companies in small countries face problems with spare parts."
"Their documentation needs to be simpler to read yet more detailed so it's easy to compare models and easier for clients to pick."
"Sometimes the technical support would get back to us in two hours, but other times it would take them two or even three days to respond."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI currently is promoting only VMware as a hypervisor, whereas if they can look into other OSs, such as KVM or Red Hat, it would be an improvement."
"The product is expensive."
"I would like the HPE Alletra dHCI to provide options to install products separately."
"The solution wasn't able to connect to the cloud, and there's no micro-segmentation. The configuration of this solution is also complex."
"High availability for large production environments needs to be offered."
"There may be issues around scaling."
"We had one call with technical support which was not completely answered to our satisfaction. We did not receive the right answer."
"The fact that it is tied to a certain hardware platform would probably be the bigger negative versus just being able to buy something off the shelf."
"I would like them to add more connection capability, a hub and spoke model, to improve the number of connections that it can handle."
"For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V."
"I have not seen ROI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The prices are very high."
"I think it's priced right and it's extremely intelligent."
"The solution’s pricing was very good."
"The product licensing costs vary depending on whether VMware or other solutions are used."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is much cheaper than the competition and has value proposition. Customers can see an ROI in three months. There are no additional costs, and VMware licenses can be reutilized."
"The customers have found the solution to be expensive. However, when compared to the competition the price is reasonable."
"I would rate the licensing model a three out of ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is cheap."
"The price of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is expensive."
"We did get some quotes from Nutanix, and they were ballparks. So, it is not cheap, and there is nothing free, but those two were comparable."
"Other vendors fall short on price compared to HPE on this product."
"In terms of the licenses, customers do not actually get any benefit."
"I think it's a complete package. We buy the license with support for five years. It's a subscription, I will say, but it's included when you buy the SimpliVity solution from HPE. You have a contract with the software warranty and upgrades."
"The only thing that I think we are paying for is the VMware licenses, but we are enterprise, so it is not horrible."
"For three years, it is $60,000 for three nodes. It is quite pricey."
"It is expensive for this market. Everyone says that it is a very good product, but the only complaint is about the price."
"Upfront costs seems high at first look, but after analyzing all the benefits of SimpliVity, we have come out ahead."
