Effortless upgrades with one-click feature while new server deployment needs a smoother process
I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers…

Offers a unified platform, reduces downtime, and simple updates
Nutanix offers a unified platform for managing databases, virtual machines, and applications. This simplifies management by consolidating everything into a single interface. While Nutanix may have a higher upfront cost compared to other hypervisors, it can significantly reduce the resources needed for infrastructure management. With our previous hypervisor, we needed nearly ten IT personnel. Nutanix has allowed us to streamline our team to just three members. We use a combination of database technologies, including SQL databases and web servers such as IIS, BHP, and NGINX. Nutanix features helped our organization reduce downtime. I don't recall the last time we had downtime related to Nutanix because it is such a stable product. Nutanix, a reliable product, helps us streamline our processes, which in turn improves company revenue. We began to see the benefits after two years, with a 40 percent reduction in operational costs. We migrated 200 servers from AWS to Nutanix. Nutanix may not consolidate applications, but it helps us run them more efficiently on its platform. Updating is simple with one click. I would rate the updating processes 10 out of 10. Adding compute and storage on demand is not difficult. However, we need to factor in the existing and new firmware and software requirements.

Pros

"The product has cut down a lot of service tickets. Earlier, people complained about slowness."
"HPE Alletra dHCI is very comfortable with high performance and quick installation."
"HPE's InfoSight software, which does the comparative analysis and artificial intelligence built-in in the box, and with Nimble they do well against the competition. Additionally, the dashboards are good."
"The solution works well."
"So far, the solution's performance is very good."
"With regards to performance, configuration, and longevity it is upgradeable, which means it has a good TCO rate. These are valuable aspects to me."
"We have the ability to increase the storage without any additional costs."
"The integration of AI tools for predictive analysis sets it apart from competitors."
"The technology of Nutanix Acropolis AOS is the most valuable feature. You don't need multiple screens to manage."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS is easy to use, integrates with other hardware configurations, and is simple to manage."
"One of the most valuable features of Nutanix is that it's easy to use. I love this solution—it's easy to maintain and update, and I think it's almost perfect."
"Their Google operating system is more mature, so their results are much better."
"The virtualization environment is now much easier to manage and maintain, there is only one vendor to call in case of issues and one single console to manage everything."
"One of the most valuable features is the One-Click Upgrade. When I need to update the system, I do it with one click. This product is amazing because everything is easy to manage, from network management to snapshots."
"In terms of scalability, adding a number of nodes, I find that it will not be any issues."
"Karbon is a must-have as it drastically simplifies the deployment of Kubernetes."

Cons

"The product's active controller feature needs improvement."
"Companies in small countries face problems with spare parts."
"The initial setup is a little bit complicated."
"I can tier my data in different storage on the cloud, but I cannot tier the data with HPE Alletra dHCI."
"This year 2022, we have the possibility to include new kinds of storage with a high disk availability, such as Alletra 6000 and Alletra 9000. Those are the new storage available. If we would like to improve the quality and the capability and the high availability of these products, we can choose between different costs. This is another benefit from this HPE Nimble Storage dHCI solution of hyper-converged."
"The product does not support file services."
"The deployment of a new server could be improved."
"The performance of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI could improve. Other solutions, such as Cisco, are better."
"The documentation could be improved."
"I feel like the flow chart and the automated processes have some room for improvement. They're nearly there, and the rest is fine. They've improved a lot over the past few years."
"Pricing and varieties of options could be better."
"In the licensing, it needs to be clear about features because it is not clear whether Flow is integrated or not."
"Nutanix marketing strategy needs improvement, particularly in Myanmar."
"The price could be lower."
"While their overall Nutanix Bible is good, they are lacking good descriptions for particular scenarios that might be helpful to many users."
"It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals. According to my organization's SLA, if a critical patch is released during that time, then I need to implement the patches within 30 days. If it is a standard patch, then I need to patch it within 60 days. Since that is my SLA, I cannot meet my SLA for security because Nutanix will not release the upgrade within these 30 days. Between the critical patch release and the Nutanix release, my customers say they are vulnerable and I am accepting the risk while the SLA is breached."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the licensing model a three out of ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is cheap."
"With the features that HPE Nimble Storage dHCI provides, I cannot say its pricing is more."
"The product licensing costs vary depending on whether VMware or other solutions are used."
"The cost of the licensing is reasonable."
"The customers have found the solution to be expensive. However, when compared to the competition the price is reasonable."
"I think it's priced right and it's extremely intelligent."
"The product is costly."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is much cheaper than the competition and has value proposition. Customers can see an ROI in three months. There are no additional costs, and VMware licenses can be reutilized."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure could be cheaper. It's costly to upgrade the solution. There are no additional costs aside from the license."
"There is a license required for this solution and my clients usually purchase a two-year license with extended support. The price of the solution could be reduced, it is more expensive than competitors."
"Our Nutanix license is for five years. There is a support arrangement there, but that aspect is more or less taken care of during the initial installation. With HCI architecture, whenever we do any kind of auto scaling or scaling of servers and resources, there is a significant amount of software licensing involved."
"I don't feel that I am receiving the performance which I am paying for."
"Its licensing model is easy, but the bad thing is that we need to pay for the whole capacity at once. With VMware vSAN, we only have to pay for the capacity that we are using, which is not the case with Nutanix. So, we have more overhead for the licensing cost with Nutanix."
"The basic license that comes with the box allows basic virtualization features but advanced automation features would require an upgrade of licenses."
"I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost."
"It is not cheap, but if you look at the return on investment and the total cost of ownership, it is worth the price."
