Ensures internet navigation safety and boosts productivity
The features of Cisco Umbrella I prefer most are DNS protection and traffic redirect. With Cisco Talos's threat intelligence, we reduce the impact of malware traffic in our network, and we currently see the behavior of equipment and choose the correct sites. Cisco Talos has helped us reduce the impact of malware traffic. We can see the behavior and choose the correct sites. We're currently testing secure access with Umbrella in order to secure access to core applications. It's a product that the user doesn't even know is there, even though it is protecting them. It's not hard on the equipment. And, for us, it centralizes everything, which improves productivity. With the Experience Insights feature of Cisco Secure Access, we've seen impacts on the management of user connectivity by allowing us to deliver safe connectivity. We are testing the Secure Access product with Cisco Umbrella to improve our connectivity with our users in order to secure access to the corporate applications. Cisco Umbrella is in the cloud, which is nice.

Advanced protection features offer robust security while integration process presents challenges
With the WebAssign integration, it is not easy when I am integrating policies within the company, especially with NAND and wireless policies. The challenge arises when traffic is blocked from either wireless or wired connections. Although implementing it as a standalone is quicker, integrating BYOD with Cisco I and FTB can be tiring. Once it is done correctly, the functionality and reports become valuable, although the implementation part can still be challenging.

Secure, reasonably priced, and performs well
We used cloud services for testing purposes. We used Amazon cloud services. Depending on the solution, there are a variety of options. There are several options such as Endpoint, WAF, NAC, and SIEM are currently available. A variety of solutions are implemented. It was a third-party implementation by Inspira. McAfee also provides an endpoint solution. McAfee's DLP is also present. Previously, we had used Trend Micro and Symantec. There is a method we had to upgrade our systems, a solution was required, and it had to match the three, four solutions from one company that were going to be cheaper, and there is a bidding process, whoever comes first, based on quality and cost, wins the competition. The requirements were speed, quality, and cost. Because Symantec was about to be renewed, our renewal would be more expensive.

Pros

"It enables us to go granular in the customization of blocking some categories on the DNS."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to block users from reaching places that they should not even try to reach has been a boon."
"For me, it's important that I get a connection to my corporate network in a secure and fast way. This product just runs in the background and doesn't need any attention. For me, as a user, it's perfect."
"If it didn't have a single pane of glass, we would not be using it. The single pane of glass gives you a one-stop shop. It's like going to Home Depot. You find all your stuff there. You can see all your threats and your endpoints. It's a very important feature and makes things very simple."
"The most valuable features for us include tenant lock, content filtering, and DLP solutions, looking for PII and information being exfiltrated."
"The initial setup is very easy and takes only a few minutes."
"The most valuable feature is that it secures our network against blacklisted or malicious websites."
"The most valuable feature is the website protection capabilities because it prevents end-users from entering bad sites that potentially have malware or could be used for phishing."
"The tool has good Umbrella DNS security."
"Cisco regularly upgrades features for the customer's security requirements."
"Since working with the tool, we have not found any threats in our organization."
"It also has high availability."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The tool has good Umbrella DNS security."
"The most valuable feature is security."
"It also allows you to decrypt SSL traffic, and that's a really important feature as well, which is something I also configured."
"It is functional. It has reduced risk and downtime while also ensuring regulatory compliance, which is critical."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it protects against threats that are coming from the web."
"The most valuable is the blocking of blacklisted sites, a URL that is, either by intelligence or by McAfee, detected as a malicious site."
"It has dependable anti-malware and intrusion prevention features all-in-one package."
"The stability has a good standard right now."
"The product is quite an effective firewall."
"Provides good accessibility and handles any overload very well."
"The solution does what it's meant to do."

Cons

"The product can be pretty expensive."
"If the security issues are taken care of it would be better."
"It could be more secure. It would be better if they provided a transferring proxy as an add-on and more integration."
"We would like to see the enhancements made to the EDR, as we see features that are running endpoint management."
"I would like them to make some videos, practical videos, the kind with steps that people can use to learn and deploy"
"If the virtual appliances could also gather traffic bandwidth reports, that would be great."
"From my perspective, I would Cisco Umbrella to give more exposure to my sales engineers. I know I can call them whenever I have an issue, however, more frequent meetings would be awesome."
"Support for multiple domains is important to us."
"I would like more automation."
"The FTD 21 model's Firepower Threat Defense does not have the multi-instance feature for the virtualization with the physical equipment."
"The transparent proxy is quite difficult to enforce on smartphones and tablets."
"Sometimes reporting is a little bit short."
"The GUI is not user-friendly, so it needs to improve or be simplified."
"The support for this solution could be improved. We have experienced issues with their SMARTnet support system."
"With the WebAssign integration, it is not easy when I am integrating policies within the company, especially with NAND and wireless policies."
"The licensing model needs to be more flexible."
"We need a better customer experience and more flexibility in the product."
"We used a consultant to help us set it up. Unfortunately, he was not that good. They were out of McAfee people. He was a consultant and knew the product, but he was not a McAfee person. How they managed it and how they worked was not straightforward."
"The solution should be more proactive in regards to sending you updates."
"Endpoints are lightweight agents, eating too much of the host resources."
"The initial setup could be simplified, there is a learning curve during the implementation."
"McAfee Web Protection can improve the information provided for hybrid installations in the console. Additionally, having cloud protection would be good."
"The True Key version for mobile phones should be improved. The password manager is not as seamless as on the desktop. Once implemented, on the desktop, when you go to the site, it automatically fills and connects you, whereas, on the mobile phone, it doesn't do that quite seamlessly. You need to open the True Key application and then select the password you want to use. It then opens in the browser. There are fewer steps in the desktop version as compared to the mobile version."
"The solution could always use more security features. If it was more secure, it would be an even stronger product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price depends on the use case, and it's a bit linear. But it depends on the customer's strategy and how Cisco plans to optimize the costs."
"Licensing with Cisco can be a little complex, but I think it's comparable with that of other similar products. It's always hard to put a price on security, but the price is fair for the value it provides."
"The pricing is pretty fair. It's good."
"Cisco uses subscription models for the pricing and there are three subscription plans."
"There is room for improvement when it comes to the cost."
"There is a subscription cost."
"The product is pricey compared to Cisco Firepower."
"The price is fair, and the licensing cost is based on the number of users. We have seen a good ROI."
"The solution has a standard license."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Cisco Web Security Appliance is not the cheapest solution on the market, but it's well worth it."
"When you compare the price of this solution to the price of FortiGate, it's high."
"There is a subscription-based license needed to use this solution."
"At the time, licensing fees were paid on an annual basis."
"Licensing fees are based on the number of users."
"I rate Cisco WSA a seven out of ten since it is costly."
"It is not very expensive. It costs 100 Canadian Dollars per year per license. I buy one-year or two-year protection. The license covers my PC, laptops, and telephone. The cost is per user but for multiple devices. It has just the standard licensing fees. There are some options for extended protection. For example, if I wanted to have a VPN, there will be an extra cost. So, there are upgradable features, but I'm very happy with what it is giving me with the basic plan. It gives me the basic privacy protection that I need."
"In McAfee Web Protection you have the ability to install any appliance you want with the same license. If you need an appliance on-premise, you can install it with the same license because the license is for users, not for appliances. If you need one more, you can install it and you don't have problems with the license or need to change your environment."
"$150 Canadian per year."
"The license number would be approximately $35,000."
"The pricing is cheaper than some of the other options that are available."
