Has provided secure remote access for years but inconsistent support delays resolution
Regarding logging and management, while some of the logging is really good, other times it's not so great, and we've had to reach out to Check Point a few times for assistance, and the support we've gained hasn't been up to par with what Check Point usually offers as part of their support. When it comes to improvements, not specifically the remote access VPN, but the support associated with Check Point products has fallen over the last two years, and the response time is much worse, with the first layer of support lacking sufficient knowledge on how to troubleshoot issues.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It allows everyone to work from home, and if no one could work from home, then we wouldn't have a company, especially now during COVID-19."
"A clear example of the positive impact this license has had in my organization was back in 2020, as the software was in use since before the pandemic hit so our personnel was familiarized with the product and the transition was smooth and secure from the office to work from home."
"The ability for our entire global organization to work more securely and to allow us to deploy private and dedicated networks in more than one location."
"This platform has developed a reliable communication infrastructure that employees can use to communicate with remote workers."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN has positively impacted our organization by enabling employees to securely access internal systems from anywhere, which has reduced downtime and made it easier to stay connected while traveling or working from home."
"The security of the solution is a good feature, the stability is a valuable feature, and the customization is also a nice feature."
"Our number of users working remotely vastly increased during the COVID 19 pandemic. Check Point Remote Access VPN allowed us to quickly make the transition from in-office to remote work."
"This solution has improved our organization by providing access to corporate resources in a secure fashion."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle VPN Connect is all the technology involved."

Cons

"Without a doubt and with the new trends in technology, Check Point should already have a blade with a 2MFA solution and not through some other vendor."
"My overall experience with customer support is not great; our typical first level of support that we receive is lackluster, usually involving someone that doesn't really understand our issue, and it takes multiple days to get the issue escalated to someone that can actually help."
"The non-standard setup is quite complex as you have to do changes via GUI and CLI."
"It would be good to have Remote Access VPN solutions for Check Point edge services."
"The main area for improvement is pricing. Another area could be integrating MFA authentication directly into the solution instead of using separate benchmark tools for implementation."
"This is the best version we are using, however, if some changes can be made in the next release, I'd like to see adjustments to the time period and internet connectivity."
"Knowledge base documentation can be upgraded."
"The product needs to improve its support."
"Oracle VPN Connect could improve the graphical interface."
"Oracle VPN Connect is stable, but sometimes we have some problems with the server."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license required for this solution."
"I give the price of the solution a five out of ten."
"My understanding is that the pricing and licensing are very competitive, and it's not one of their more expensive products. We buy licenses for the solution and have licenses for the endpoint servers."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN is not expensive and the cost is annual."
"Regarding pricing, as a global customer, we get a big discount. For us, it's a good return on investment. We need to pay for additional features we want to enable. It seems cheaper than other vendors, but I can't say what it would cost an average customer."
"The price of this product is good."
"The solution is pretty expensive. The rating is an eight."
"Organizations that already have the Check Point NGFW need to purchase an additional license to have access to the VPN functionality."
