It has the ability to provide run-time production problem resolution, but while the instrumentation is powerful, it can overwhelm the system and cause instability.
Extremely powerful drill down capability across .Net/Windows and Java based applications Ability to record application execution from user, system and code levels Full video and client level capture and recording of user sessions Extremely flexible deployment including connected mode (agent connects to controller) or standalone agent recording. The solution also provides the ability to allow clients to navigate to a url and execute the recording workflow using a "light agent approach" Ability to provide diagnostics with the same agent for JVM/IIS tier in addition to deep granularity and visibility at OS level

Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Provided rapid ability to triage and diagnose customer production environments- exercises that normally would take weeks could be accomplished in hours with AppSight"
"My advice is to learn to use it and learn all of the features because it has many of them, not all of which are documented, but they work wonders."
"New Relic shows how much time each SQL transaction (SQL query) is taking to execute, so the client can pinpoint the query and modify it so that it takes less time to execute."
"We are able to drill down and see what is going on in the system."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to receive in-depth information about applications, as it can detect a lot of important information."
"Error rates are a good indicator for potential rollbacks for a potential deployment – and usually it’s pretty instantaneous."
"Customer Service: The Support has been excellent -- affordable and bringing us meetings and phone calls with great availability and customer-oriented support."
"It's a very stable product."
"It’s just so easy to set up and use with little training, the barrier to entry is extremely low and it adds a high-value."

Cons

"Customer Service: Currently, the service levels offered by BMC for this solution are very poor."
"It’s generally stable, but last year it was a little flaky."
"It would be nice if there were pre-made dashboards. There should be out-of-the-box options that you can have."
"Integration with Azure websites as well as Azure cloud services."
"One issue – there is no option for live chat or phone support."
"We have some performance issues with the servers. Sometimes the server is consuming a lot of CPU or memory, and New Relic Insights fails."
"We have had issues with our agents going offline."
"One thing that we noticed was that historical information was only for a limited period, which was not helpful in certain scenarios. For example, if I want to size my system for an event for New Year or Christmas season based on the historical data, I won't be able to find the historical data. Currently, the data is limited to three months. It would be helpful if they can provide historical data for a longer duration so that we can plan our system accordingly."
"Another area for improvement is integration with Kubernetes. Currently, the process isn't user-friendly."

"The pricing and licensing are too high."
"We're paying for the New Relic APM license annually."
"We deploy everything on AWS. Purchasing the product on AWS Marketplace made it easier for us."
"Comparatively, the pricing is expensive."
"It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
"The price was one of the reasons we chose this solution."
"The solution is less expensive than AppNeta."
