Stable with a good database and a good interface
We primarily use the solution to deal with problems in the production environment For us, the database is the most useful feature. The interface is great. We don't find the pricing to be too bad. The initial setup was fairly easy. I'm not sure how to improve the solution. It currently has all of…

Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is stable, reliable, and doesn't have any bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze."
"The initial setup was fairly easy."
"The overview itself provides us clear visibility of how applications are doing, and provides us our response times, data rates, and Apdex score."
"Since using New Relic, time saved has improved by almost 50% due to the integration of Copilots and AI, and the ticket count reduction has surpassed 75%, allowing us to efficiently address similar issues."
"It was able to really effectively find the problem and solve it – it sped up the pages considerably."
"The most valuable feature is the New Relic APM module to deep-dive into the application, to get bottlenecks to the surface, and to improve application performance. Also, the New Relic Insights module creates a real-time dashboard on application performance to create awareness for the DevOps team."
"Given we have only one infrastructure guy and he can manage all of this, and a small team, everyone can use it all for different purposes."
"New Relic is the best choice because the product has good dashboards, scalability, and environments."
"However, as a dev-ops tool, it has been priceless."
"Error rates are a good indicator for potential rollbacks for a potential deployment – and usually it’s pretty instantaneous."

Cons

"There are certain aspects of the configuration that could be simplified a bit."
"There are certain aspects of the configuration that could be simplified a bit."
"I would like the ability to set up certain dummy accounts and do the actual things that the customer is doing, without impacting the production environment."
"How granular I could go down at looking at certain data, especially related to the operations, is limited."
"I think the APM mode can be improved. In addition, its difficult to have a predictive tool to see how the application would behave in the future when it basically only shows the historical data."
"Some of the 3rd party plugins could be improved - especially the requirement for java to monitor simple network services is not ideal."
"It is a serious tool and requires a lot of time invested in order to understand how it works."
"Last year, there were several New Relic outages where alerts were either fired in error or not fired at all."
"It is complicated, especially in how you interpret the data that it provides. If it had a bit more canned, out-of-the-box features, especially some of the reporting features, that would be more useful."
"Currently, it is not the only solution we have for monitoring so there are things that it’s missing – for example what Datadog does for us."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We feel it's a little bit pricey."
"Comparatively, the pricing is expensive."
"If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
"The pricing is okay comparatively their competitors. The only concern was whether it should be purchased on demand or bring your own license, and which way passes some savings onto the end customers."
"The price of New Relic could improve. It is expensive."
"The solution is cheap, but prices can go up when users grow."
"The new licensing model is great, as we pay for what we use (in computational units). However, the pricing is expensive compared to other tools."
"The price of New Relic APM could be less expensive. We are using the New Relic APM pro account and it is more costly. When compared to competitors the solution's pricing should be much more realistic."
