Stable with a good database and a good interface
We primarily use the solution to deal with problems in the production environment For us, the database is the most useful feature. The interface is great. We don't find the pricing to be too bad. The initial setup was fairly easy. I'm not sure how to improve the solution. It currently has all of…

Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is stable, reliable, and doesn't have any bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze."
"The initial setup was fairly easy."
"Technical support is excellent; if you opened a support ticket, you would get a reply within a few business hours, and they call back and make themselves available."
"Using CA APM has allowed us to know about the performance of our applications and servers and also to identify issues before they happen."
"The executive dashboard we created gives a lot of visibility. There's no working on something for a little bit before someone knows."
"Experience View provides a business-focused view that answers the key question as to what the customer experience is, with a minimal amount of work required."
"Crash analytics goes down to the level of code you need to check."
"Overall, APM improves our total customer experience and reduces our operational costs."
"The ability to accomplish the identification of the root cause of problems with applications in drill-down level by integrating the suite with tools for managing and monitoring."
"CA APM always helps in finding problems quickly rather than requiring us to check logs to pin-point the issue."

Cons

"There are certain aspects of the configuration that could be simplified a bit."
"A CA APM agent takes a lot of memory. That is one disadvantage. If you configure CA APM correctly it will still consume around 15 to 20 percent of memory."
"We did have stability problems."
"Needs custom dashboards."
"Outages with the solution are very frequent nowadays actually; we see the APM solution going down two to three times a day, and it’s a long troubleshooting cycle, as the CA APM system seems to add a lot of performance overhead."
"We need more capabilities to analyze the information that tools collects; for example, using artificial intelligence, or something like that."
"In short, CA APM is not a tool I would recommend for implementation of self-healing."
"Root cause detection Easy installation and configuration It should facilitate real user monitoring to see what your users are experiencing in real time."
"Right now, if I need to run some reports, I need to run some manual queries, which is very time consuming."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Pricing and licensing are not issues."
"Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
"It is definitely expensive for what we get, but there isn't an alternate option at the moment."
"Depends on the size of the product you need."
"Broadcom is a better and cheaper option from the financial perspective. It also depends on the DLP plug."
"Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
"On pricing, CA is very competitive. I think that's going to help in the long run."
