Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

Offers centralized security management and flexibility
The improvements required in the product depend on how it is used, meaning it can be used for endpoint security or email and collaboration security. The web gateway is used along with anti-malware, advanced protection, URL filtering, application control, and data protection. I don't have any improvements to suggest in the tool as of now, and not at least for now, as per my security assessment. There are certain concerns with the product's stability, so it is an area where improvements are required.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I rate the tool a ten out of ten when it comes to the ease of use or management part."
"Has good RAM capacity for the power I need"
"The most valuable features are script blocking and macros within Word documents for stopping unwanted applications from running in the background."
"Its setup is simple if you have a Windows device; it is executable."
"I like the AI and mathematical components that they use."
"The solution is stable."
"I've found the AI engine in CylancePROTECT to be particularly effective for technology and in preventing unknown threats."
"The most functional item that we use is the process to turn off the false flags that it causes."
"One of the most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection is the integration with other solutions."
"What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools."
"The tool offers centralized security management. The tool's deployment is flexible."
"The antivirus signature is valuable."
"It is a stable solution."
"The next-generation antivirus features are excellent."
"Installation is easy."
"The most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection are the email gateway and R & D which have contributed to their additional capability and development."

Cons

"Enhancing the product's detection rates and streamlining the user interface for easier management in daily operations would be beneficial improvements."
"The management console needs a little maturity in how it presents data and allows the administrator to drill down or search across systems."
"While you are working, you are finding these things that were supposed to be waived have come back to being blocked. That's frustrating."
"I would like to see a better UI in terms of sifting through more specific data and providing analytics. A little bit more would be nice."
"Making the dashboards a bit modern to make them easier to search would also be helpful."
"It should have better support for Windows and Mac."
"It could have integration with industrial base HMIS or Human Machine Interfaces Solutions. This is the industrial environment where you have a control center for all the automation that's happening, whether it is oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing. They often have to set up a computer at the back and watch the other stuff to get alerts. In these autonomous or on-premises environments, they often don't have access to email readily. Integration with other industrial solutions, such as HMIS, will allow them to communicate and get an alert that something has been found. This way, they can react to it sooner than having somebody watch the screen and keep checking the screen. Rockwell has its own suite. Similarly, Honeywell has its own suite. There's also an independent HMI/historian solution provider out there called VTSCADA. We actually get asked if we can get it to show up on a screen, which is difficult. Getting those alerts to work within an industrial environment would be a huge plus."
"The AI of CylancePROTECT has room for improvement. I'm on a trial license of SentinelOne, and its AI is much better than what's on CylancePROTECT."
"There is room for improvement to make it better for customers."
"The dashboard could be easier to manage. We've experienced compatibility issues with Windows endpoint protection."
"Recently our end users are feeling that their system resources are too occupied and slowed because of the Trend Micro agent - that the agent is doing lots and lots of background activities which include that Application Control, Advanced Threat Protection. We raised the complaint with them and are waiting for their technical support. The support could be faster for all the Trend Micro solutions."
"The dashboard could be easier to manage."
"In the next release, I would like to see a combination of the different features from Apex One and OfficeScan in Trend Micro Smart, rather than as upgraded features."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"Some functionalities within the DLP can be improved."
"The solution needs to improve the deployment so it aligns with the latest Microsoft patches and upgrades. It makes the deployment process lengthy and painful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"CylancePROTECT is an affordable solution."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"Currently, we have competitive pricing for Cylance, which is affordable enough to consider."
"The price is reasonable for us at the moment. I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten."
"The initial end-point cost may seem a little high (~$55/device/year) but when you look at the total peace of mind that the solution provides, with no reboots for updates, and negligible performance impact, it is well worth it."
"It's not so heavily priced; rather, it's average and decent."
"The license price for this solution could be better. It's on the expensive side."
"We pay our license on a yearly basis and have just renewed for two years."
"The solution is a little bit expensive in comparison to other traditional tools."
"There is an annual subscription license on it. In the next release, there might be monthly payment options. So, people might be able to get it through AWS in the future, but right now for on-prem, it is annual."
"There is an annual license required for this solution."
"Our organization has paid licensing for three years, which averaged about $4.00 USD per user. We've been satisfied with the licensing. It's quite reasonable."
"The cost seems competitive."
"In terms of pricing, in comparison to products like Kaspersky, Trend Micro's price might appear higher. However, this elevated cost can be rationalized due to the extensive features and detection engines that Trend Micro provides. The price may be a challenge for countries with economic conditions like Sri Lanka. If there was reasonable pricing for Sri Lanka, it would be a plus point."
"Whether something is affordable or pricy, is relative. It depends on the value an institution has attached to a capability. For us, security is a premium requirement, I can't say a solution is pricey if we are able to afford it and run it for seven years, I would say it's affordable."
"If I'm not mistaken, for three years, for 400 licenses, we paid nearly 15,000 euros. We don't have any additional costs that we have to pay on top of that."
