Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Business processes are automated efficiently with a well-designed interface
There is room for improvement in integrations and customizations for AgilePoint and other low-code, no-code solutions. Additionally, the marketing of such products should be more honest. They often claim to solve all process automation needs, but they only handle problems of certain complexity. AgilePoint cannot handle highly complex processes like ERPs.

Pega is a low-code platform that enables organizations to build, automate, and optimize business processes and customer experiences through AI-powered decisioning and workflow automation.
Here are the key areas where Pega Platform could be improved: 1. User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) Customization Limitations: The UI layer is tightly coupled with the platform, limiting flexibility for custom front-end development. Constellation Architecture: While it improves consistency, it restricts advanced UI customizations compared to older section-based designs. Learning Curve: Non-technical users find the UI unintuitive despite the low-code promise. 2. Integration & Extensibility Limited Out-of-the-Box Integrations: Users report challenges integrating with non-relational databases and legacy systems. Robotics Integration: Pega RPA (formerly OpenSpan) is not seamlessly integrated with BPM, creating silos in automation. 3. AI & Decisioning AI Capabilities Need Maturity: Users expect more advanced, native AI features without relying on external tools. CDH & Decision Hub: While powerful, these components require deep expertise to configure effectively. 4. Cost & Licensing High Licensing Costs: Pega is often seen as expensive, especially for small and mid-sized enterprises. Lack of Flexible Pricing Models: Calls for subscription-based or usage-based pricing to improve accessibility. 5. Performance & Scalability Scalability Concerns: Some users report performance degradation with large user bases or complex workflows. Upgrade Complexity: Platform upgrades can be time-consuming and disruptive if not planned well. 6. Documentation & Community Support Insufficient Learning Resources: Especially for advanced features, documentation is limited and community support is not as strong as competitors. Talent Availability: Finding skilled Pega professionals remains a challenge in many regions. 7. Low-Code/No-Code Experience Not Fully No-Code: Despite branding, some tasks still require technical intervention, and the drag-and-drop interface can be restrictive 2. Conflict Management: Simultaneous development by multiple users can lead to rule conflicts.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"After using AA for some of the flows, we identified that the execution time was reduced by 70% when compared to the other automation tool that we have been using for 8 years."
"Automation Anywhere is a pioneer in RPA tools."
"Stability is great."
"The integration is helpful. We have quite a few use cases where we've integrated with Microsoft tools and local record systems, such as SAP and Vertex AI."
"The recording feature accelerates the timeline of your implementation."
"Comparing Automation Anywhere with other tools for RPA, in my opinion, it is better because it is easier to use for both the final user and the developer."
"We have started to see the ROI, as activities in which resources in my team would have taken four to five hours are now done in 30 minutes."
"We've delivered tremendous value in a really short amount of time and gotten a lot of support from our organization."
"I like the design and the integration capacity, and it's also easy to use."
"Anytime companies need any solution with workflow, they can base it on AgilePoint, because AgilePoint allows companies to design and implement workflows very fast using the system's interface."
"AgilePoint's most valuable feature is process management."
"AgilePoint's automation is excellent in managing different user roles and handling data associated with a particular instance of the workflow."
"AgilePoint has improved our organization by making form implementation easier and to plan for future growth."
"The initial setup of AgilePoint was very easy."
"The solution's workflows are its most useful feature."
"There is a feature to accelerate the development so that business analysts can directly create their user stories and assign the task to the developers."
"The user interface and the ease of developing the workflow for an application are valuable features."
"While there may be stability issues, they are minimal."
"It is quite configurable, which is the most exciting feature, and we can easily configure it as per our needs."
"The PEGA platform is an outstanding product for those companies that are really willing to use it as a BPM platform throughout the whole company."
"It is easy to use, easy to understand, easy to implement and easy to enhance and we can do it as a Cloud. Also it is very user friendly."
"The solution is able to support the size and scale required."
"Decreased time for plane departures and landing, supported analytical insight for planning of three to six month forecasting, and helped with operational decision planning and support."

Cons

"The OCR can be a little better because sometimes while scrapping, it leads to data loss."
"This solution should be more user-friendly so that our clients can take a bot that we have developed for them, and then run it by themselves."
"What we currently have with Fortress IQ needs to mature more, and I say this since people spend weeks creating PDDs documentation."
"I'd like to see the OCR feature be perfected. Today we get an accuracy ratio from OCR of around 40 percent to 50 percent only."
"One area requiring improvement is the debugging process. When I use a multi-structure with conditions to switch from one bot to another, successful debugging of the entire process is not feasible. Each bot has to be debugged individually."
"The quality and response time of the support, even on Sev-1 tickets, is not satisfactory."
"Cost is the biggest area in need of improvement for Automation Anywhere. Annually it's $250,000."
"The feature, which might be interesting for companies that don't already have an identity management system, was a bit tricky because I would have preferred the system to directly rely on our corporate identity and access management system to manage the bot's credentials."
"They should add more information about functionality."
"Integrations and customizations should be improved in AgilePoint and other low-code solutions."
"Technical support is very slow to respond and they need to be quicker in getting back to clients when problems arise."
"While the platform is good and it has a lot of options, I would like to see more alternative features in future versions such as connectors to IDM. Currently, they have only ADFS and Okta."
"The solution should be able to support Docker. This would help make scalability easier."
"Some issues with AgilePoint's design, AI and UX are some of the major problems we deal with when handling our company's business models or processes."
"It could be more flexible, but it's already a good solution for the designer."
"The initial setup takes time."
"There is room for potential improvement in the performance of PegaRULES, as well as the need to address any existing security concerns. It should be noted that working with an older version of Pega, rather than the latest 8.x versions, may limit certain capabilities and leave room for vulnerabilities that could benefit from increased attention. Furthermore, the user interface (UI) could be a candidate for enhancements. It is worth mentioning that newer versions of Pega may have introduced improvements in these areas."
"PegaRULES need to improve its JVM. It needs to enhance the operation speed and memory size."
"Pega BPM could improve the UI, it is poorly designed to have a good UX experience."
"I think there is room for improvement in the low code/ no code environment that they're promoting now. That needs to be aligned a little bit more. I still feel that it is not that friendly for a person who has no experience with Pega to just go in and try to create something."
"I believe there are improvements needed in Pega Platform, particularly in robotics."
"The UI needs reworking."
"Reporting is not so clear and not so great. We really struggle to get the right reporting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cost-wise, it is fine. A lot of medium businesses prefer Automation Anywhere. The development cost is also lower."
"Automation Anywhere has an advantage in terms of licensing. It is more cost-efficient compared to all other RPA platforms. It is a recommended solution when clients need a cost-efficient automation tool to perform unattended automation."
"Our annual licensing costs are around $100,000 a year."
"The cost can be reduced a little for users."
"In terms of monetary savings, we automated a bot in three days that has saved us $30,000 in costs."
"I think it's $5,500 per license."
"The cost is anywhere between $10,000 and $100,000."
"The cloud-based version comes at an increased cost, although our clients are happy with the new features and have not complained about the pricing."
"It is more cost-effective than local tools."
"Price-wise, AgilePoint is a cheap tool and a standard application for running analytics in an IT environment."
"I think the price is reasonable."
"I believe the pricing has changed recently. We had purchased one license per server, and it was about $2,000. It was a one-time payment. It's possible that they have recently implemented a new cost structure and now have yearly subscriptions."
"PegaRULES is a good product, but its pricing is a bit on the premium side, especially for professionals."
"They have both on-premise and cloud licensing. If you are a small to medium company, go for the cloud option because that eliminates a lot of the setting up of your DevTest and performance environments, multiple environments, because you can buy that from Pega with the cloud option. So your setup time really goes down. If you're a large company, then you're better off putting it within your company. You have other skill resources within your company to create environments."
"Pega is expensive."
"Users have to pay a yearly license cost for Pega BPM, which is expensive."
"The pricing is pretty good, compared to other similar products."
"We mostly have a yearly license."
"The price is a bit expensive."
"Licensing varies across geographical regions for us."
