Our main use case is for user management, especially in the context of developers. The focus is consolidating different user types, such as active and desktop users, and facilitating a unified user experience. The primary functionalities include single sign-on and managing access across various instances of Atlassian applications, creating a cohesive user base for improved efficiency and convenience.

One standout feature is the capability to configure various authentication and authorization methods from diverse user directories.

The issue lies in a somewhat unremarkable route problem. There's a need for effective group membership management, especially for corporate programs. The requirement is to manage memberships through groups, where users and managers can add individuals to specific user groups.

I have been using it for over ten years.

It's a remarkably stable product since I'm not concerned about any cloud outages. I would rate it ten out of ten.

It is highly scalable, and specifically designed for extensive landscapes, making it an ideal choice for large enterprises. Its design facilitates easy scalability, accommodating businesses ranging from the smaller end of the spectrum to extensive operations with tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of users.

The initial setup was quite straightforward. I would rate it nine out of ten.

When it comes to on-premises deployment, the approach is fairly straightforward. However, in the context of the cloud, it's crucial to distinguish between Atlassian Cloud, referring to applications managed by Atlassian, and cloud services like Amazon Web Services or Azure. In my case, I use BitBucket, and the experience is quite similar to on-premises usage, with perhaps a few additional features. Atlassian Crowd is tailored for solutions hosted on various cloud services or self-hosted setups, excluding Atlassian Cloud. It typically requires several hours.

The pricing ranges from low to medium. While it may seem affordable for larger enterprises, it tends to become more expensive as you move up the scale.

For organizations using various Atlassian products and dealing with multiple user sources or directories, implementing Atlassian Crowd for single sign-on proves highly beneficial. This is especially true for companies that have instances of Atlassian product installations across different entities, each with its own Active Directory and user directory. Crowd significantly streamlines user and directory management, making it more efficient for larger enterprises. It is particularly advisable and recommended for big companies, especially those that have undergone acquisitions or mergers, as it enhances user management, transparency, and configurability. While it's incredibly useful for enterprise-level businesses, it may also be suitable for mid-sized companies with a substantial user base. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

It allows for centralized multiple directories and a single sign-on across a variety of tools. It lets us govern permissions and allows people to drive across the board on a variety of different tools within one space. It essentially allows you to merge infrastructure and work into one area. It's a nice integration that allows you to branch across a variety of different areas. 

A lot of our work is being migrated into Microsoft Azure. We also use Jira. Cloudmed, our new company that we purchased last year, heavily used Azure, and we heavily used Jira, so it allows us to look at the integration pathway between the two.

The most valuable features are predominantly in the directory and development spaces.

We just started using Atlassian with Cloudmed. We're at a point in our process where this is an upgrade, so it's making our lives easier.

The stability is good so far.

It's very scalable because you're able to merge multiple platforms and multiple infrastructures into one.

Technical support is okay. They aren't the best, but they're no worse than a multitude of other companies.

Setup isn't difficult. It's all pretty user friendly. There are tutorials, and it's easily accessible.

It's pretty cheap. I would rate the price as three out of five.

There are compounding subscriptions, so if you have one tool and then add others, each add-on is a cost.

I would rate this solution as nine out of ten.

My advice is to plan your work before you do it. Atlassian really likes it if you're already established in your process, which is almost an inefficiency. They want you to be established so they can redirect how you're going to use your software. Without doing the work to clean things up, it doesn't actually fix your issue. It makes you more efficient, but you have to optimize what you're doing before you get into the software.

The integration of third-party directory services helps you to move your existing users and groups into the Atlassian products. As far as I know, Crowd supports at least the integration of these directories: OpenLDAP, Apache Directory Server, Fedora Directory Server, Active Directory. 

Integrating third-party directories is very easy since Crowd offers well-described input fields so you know what information is needed.

Crowd is not really there for improving your organization, it more servers as a directory service for the Atlassian products. Still, it is a good way for access control and of course the single sign-on feature brings some comfort for the users.

It would be great if the UI would receive a complete re-design.

The GUI is well arranged and structured. However, the look and feel is a bit antiquated in my eyes. It would make sense to give the GUI a fresh look which fits more into the look of other Atlassian products. It would also be great if the information within the GUI would be dynamically loaded (e.g. through Ajax) which would save some clicks.
