It all depends on your context. In my case, I work for a big company with quite heavy processes. Octane is more suitable.

The big difference is this:
- JIRA's strong point is the possibility of adding plugins, so you can adapt JIRA to your needs. The flaw in my case is that the upgraded version of JIRA will become more complex and it must be ensured that all plugins are compatible.
- Octane is an all-in-one application without plugins.

In terms of price, we already have ALM quality Microfocus center, these licenses are compatible with Octane's, so in terms of tariff, Octane is more attractive in terms of the price.

Micro Focus ALM is a complete Test Management tool that can cover Requirements management, Defects management, Test Plan, Test Execution Suites as well as automation test executions with MF UFT (former HP QC). If you have a testing heavy project then MF ALM covers all the testing expectations well.

However, in an integrated environment with development, releases, and testing, JIRA can offer a better experience for JIRA issues (for requirements and incidents/defects), add-on for testing from JIRA marketplace (e.g. X-Ray) and offers a better fitment for DevOps. Developers and testers can work with the same tool for defects. requirements i.e. JIRA and manage testing with JIRA add-ons for Test Management.

I don't know enough about Micro Focus ALM but based from what I have seen it does provide a lot more than JIRA. I have worked with Azure DevOps and know that it can also provide more than JIRA. AZURE DevOps seems to be similar in comparison with Micro Focus ALM. So I would say if it was between JIRA and Micro Focus, then I will choose the latter.

The principal difference between ALM OCTANE and JIRA is that OCTANE covers all the JIRA functionalities for the planning and developing phase and it adds the possibility to have full governance because it has the quality management and the pipeline management embedded.
So with OCTANE, it's possible to concentrate multi projects information and quickly understand the quality impact of a test failure against a user story or feature or epic or requirement. Moreover, OCTANE is integrated with JIRA so if there is a small team that really want to use JIRA for the day to day activity you can still maintain the overall control in OCTANE.

Hi community,  I work for a consulting company and am currently researching equivalent tools to use instead of Atlassian Confluence and Jira. What are the equivalent Microsoft tools to Atlassian Confluence and Jira? Which solution do you prefer and why? Thank you for your help.

Atlassian Confluence and Jira are popular tools for knowledge management, team collaboration, and project management. However, Microsoft also offers some alternatives that can provide similar or better functionality and integration. One of the most comparable Microsoft tools to Confluence is Microsoft SharePoint, which is a cloud-based platform that allows you to create, share, and manage content, such as documents, wikis, intranets, and more. SharePoint also integrates with other Microsoft products, such as Teams, OneDrive, Power BI, and Office 365. You can use SharePoint to store and organize your team’s information, collaborate on projects, and access your data from any device. Another Microsoft tool that can serve as a Confluence alternative is Microsoft OneNote, which is a digital notebook that lets you capture and organize notes, images, audio, video, and web clippings. You can use OneNote to create personal or shared notebooks for different purposes, such as meeting notes, research notes, brainstorming ideas, and more. OneNote also syncs across your devices and integrates with other Microsoft apps, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As for Jira alternatives, one of the most similar Microsoft tools is Microsoft Azure DevOps, which is a cloud-based platform that provides a set of services for software development and delivery. Azure DevOps includes Azure Boards, which is a tool for agile project management that lets you track work items, such as user stories, tasks, bugs, and features. You can use Azure Boards to create backlogs, sprints, kanban boards, dashboards, and reports. Azure DevOps also includes other services, such as Azure Repos (for version control), Azure Pipelines (for continuous integration and delivery), Azure Test Plans (for testing and quality assurance), and Azure Artifacts (for package management). Another Microsoft tool that can replace Jira is Microsoft Project, which is a powerful project management software that helps you plan, execute, and monitor projects of any size and complexity. You can use Project to create project schedules, assign resources, track progress, manage budgets, and report on outcomes. Project also integrates with other Microsoft apps, such as Teams, Outlook, Power BI, and Dynamics 365. I hope this answer helps you understand the equivalent Microsoft tools to Atlassian Confluence and Jira. Hello peers,  I work for a small tech services company. We are currently researching Micro Focus products. Which product do you prefer: Micro Focus ALM Octane or Micro Focus ALM Quality Center? Thank you for your help.

Both are quality products. ALM QC was originally designed to support a Waterfall approach. ALM Octane was designed to support more of an Agile approach, but can also be used for Waterfall projects. ALM Octane provides the benefits of more options to connect and work with Automation tools outside of the UFT family. Micro Focus looks to be shifting towards ALM Octane and Value Edge as their focus for the future so I would normally recommend those products but for a specific use case or requirement, it could be better to use ALM QC.
