Saves resume screening time with a match score, has a lot of extra functionality, and is built for massive companies
Pros and Cons
  • "It has a neat functionality built in where it rates candidates. So, before you even look at the resume, you see a rating, and it is based on keywords. For example, it will tell you that an applicant is a frontend engineer and has used React, Angular, etc. It gives you a heads up so that you don't have to go through a hundred resumes on Monday morning eliminating applicants. It will tell you that this applicant's skills match 87%, which is pretty neat. You can skip the ones that are rated 25% or something."
  • "One thing that has been a bit of a struggle is getting tech support. It is a little more difficult to get support from SmartRecruiters. They want you to have your own in-house person to help you with any issues, whereas with both Lever and Greenhouse, you can just click a button at the bottom of the screen and chat with someone almost instantly."

What is our primary use case?

It is an applicant tracking solution. It is similar to Greenhouse but for bigger companies.

What is most valuable?

It has a neat functionality built in where it rates candidates. You can skip the ones that are rated 25% or something.

The email functionality to the candidates is a little easier to use for scheduling interviews and things like that. You just click Invite to Interview, and it'll send the candidate an email. There is a lot of extra functionality built in. It takes a little bit longer to learn and figure out, but once you do it, it speeds up the process a whole lot. It is pretty powerful.

What needs improvement?

One thing that has been a bit of a struggle is getting tech support. It is a little more difficult to get support from SmartRecruiters. They want you to have your own in-house person to help you with any issues, whereas with both Lever and Greenhouse, you can just click a button at the bottom of the screen and chat with someone almost instantly.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't had any problems with it so far. It is pretty industrial. They've been around for a while, and they have a pretty solid platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is built for much bigger organizations. It is being used by some pretty massive companies with 30,000 or 40,000 employees. A small company wouldn't want to do it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I wasn't involved in its acquisition, but I would assume that SmartRecruiters is pretty pricey.

What other advice do I have?

If you're a pretty massive company, this is the one that you would want to look into because it has so much functionality built in. It is built for massive organizations. With SmartRecruiters, we've got about 33,000 or so resumes in our database. So, it can scale pretty massively. I don't know where the pain point might be for Lever or Greenhouse in terms of the number of users, database size, resumes, etc.

It takes a little longer to figure out, but it is pretty powerful, and a lot of functionality is built in.

It is a cloud solution, and its maintenance is done in the cloud at their end. So, you never see any upgrades or changes. It just works. They may notify you that this new functionality is available or they have improved a feature. It is all maintained by them.

I would rate it a nine out of ten because of all the extra functionality and making things easy.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
