We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"They're very competitive in terms of performance, which is a good selling point. It has very rich features. It provides a very rich feature set in the application.""The most valuable features of the Talend Data Management Platform are the components.""I think Talend is one of the easiest tools for faster implementation compared to other tools.""The solution is very user-friendly and easy to understand.""The most valuable feature is the data loading and scripting language""Talend Studio has the ability to connect to almost anything to integrate data from files, databases, web services, etc.""We can develop our own code if we do not see the functionality we need.""The availability of connectors is great."

"It is very stable. It is a market leader, and it has connectors to many of the legacy systems. It also has enterprise cloud connectors.""One of the most valuable features is that it's a simple development. It takes a short time to get services to work.""The Business Studio interface based on SCA Standards helps to show the business logic at first look and improve code maintenance.""One of the most valuable features is data transformation. We have some legacy systems which are in old technology, like SOAP, whereas the new ones are in REST. So we use BusinessWorks to transform data from one format to another, from SOAP to REST.""Good TIBCO BusinessWorks features are the admin console and the ability to roll back to the previous version.""The most valuable part of the solution is the ease-of-use and ease of deployment.""It is a seamless and sophisticated tool.""The high availability, tolerance, and load balancing features are top-notch. Its scalability features are also pretty cool."

Cons
"I'd be interested in seeing the running of Python programs and transformations from within the studio itself.""I've had some issues with bugs causing crashes, especially when making changes to the system or with the monthly upgrades to Studio they've introduced.""The stability is good, but the performance is slower when I work on a huge amount of data.""I think they should drive toward AI and machine learning. They could include a machine-learning algorithm for the deduplication.""The solution's memory sometimes bottlenecks and that can be challenging.""The product must enhance the data quality.""They lack in memory capacity.""Performance and speed could be improved."

More Talend Data Management Platform Cons →

"I'd like to see a new cloud approach in the next release. They need to work on integrations, stability and management issues on their cloud platform.""The cost of this product is too expensive for smaller companies or those with a small number of integrations.""A possible improvement could be to give the capability to use different profiles for each AppNode when an application is deployed on an AppSpace.""The cost of the solution has room for improvement.""Its price can be improved. For medium enterprises, it is a very expensive tool. In the market, you won't get many resources for this solution. You won't find many developers in the market very easily. The latest version of TIBCO (6.4 or 6.x) is not very stable. It has got many issues. We have raised this with TIBCO, and they are taking a lot of time to come up with a fix, which is making us move away from this product. Some of the performance-tuning aspects are also missing in version 6. They should provide performance-related fixes, which will be helpful for the customers. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The product has evolved, but it is very pricey. That's one of the challenges. They have provided all the features that are there in other products, but this is a platform upgrade. The platform has completely been changed from 5.x to 6.x, and we can't use the same environment. We can't run both versions on the same server as VM. The development environment is entirely different. In version 5.x, there was a proprietary designer. Now, it has common plug-ins developed on top of Eclipse.""Though it is a stable product, if we have an issue with the product, it gets difficult, and it gets really difficult to explain the issue to the support team. Also, it takes a long time to get resolved.""Could be more user friendly in the development area.""The communication protocols could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "License renewal is on a yearly basis."
  • "The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
  • "The solution's pricing is very reasonable and half the cost of Informatica."
  • "The licensing cost is about 40,000 Euros a year."
  • "The price of the Talend Data Management Platform is reasonable. The other competing solutions are priced high. Gartner Magic Quadrant identified other solutions, such as Informatica, that are far more expensive."
  • "The price is on a per-user basis. It's a little more expensive than other tools. There aren't any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
  • "The tool is cheap."

  • "My understanding is that the licensing is very costly."
  • "It is a bit expensive for medium-sized companies. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The existing licensing will not work because the product platform itself is different."
  • "Its price policy has changed quite a lot in the last two years. It was extremely expensive previously. Nowadays, you can buy a license for BusinessWorks for €2000. Looking at what you get in return in terms of support, TIBCO community, and stability, it is fairly reasonable. It is not too expensive."
  • "I think BusinessWorks is more expensive compared to other products. We have the ELA, so at least we have some sort of bargain or discount with that. But for a start-up, it's very expensive compared to other ESBs."
  • "Licensing scheme is too rigid"
  • "I don't have the prices of the products, but I know that TIBCO is not a cheap solution. I think that this solution is more suitable for large companies because I don't think that small- or medium-sized companies would have the money for this solution. WSO2 has the community version for free, so many of the smaller companies can use it. I'm not sure what the prices are for support, though, so I suppose the support for WSO2 is not cheap either."
  • "The solution is too expensive. It's one of the most expensive solutions out there, particularly because there are so many open-source competitors on the market. I don't know the exact numbers, however."
  • "I give the cost of the solution a four out of ten."
