User-friendly interface facilitates efficient data migration and reduces operational overhead
Its usability and ease of use are standout features. It is really easy to use - almost too easy at times. Users don't have to be experts to use their tool set and utilize the clicking mechanisms, drop down boxes, and other features to build a package and run it. The configuration is very easy and the system is very stable. I would rate it at a 10 as it is highly reliable; we have never had any problems with it. Very little maintenance is required on my side. While you need to keep the product up to date, the maintenance requirements are minimal. SSIS integrates with all Microsoft tools seamlessly. We have used it against Oracle, DB2 and SQL. It integrates and can move data around from any data platforms, making it very diverse in that standpoint. It is a very robust tool that can work with many data sources, and its main strength is that it is extremely easy to use.

Drag-and-drop workflows have accelerated cross-database analysis and simplified daily reporting
I consider user interface modernization in Toad Data Point to be an area for improvement; it could be enhanced with a more modern, web-based look and smoother navigation, focusing on better UX and dashboard customization. Real-time collaboration could benefit from trying Git-style integration, which would strengthen team collaboration features. Performance with large data sets sometimes slows down our workflows, so implementing a better optimization engine specifically for big data workflows could enhance functionality, along with improvements in cloud-native deployment for better browser access. For the dashboarding feature, I believe Toad Data Point could improve by offering more interactive dashboards and advanced visualizations beyond the current basic charts and pivots. Implementing capabilities such as drill-down, interactive filters, and dynamic parameter selections would align more with BI-style interactivity. Visualizations compared to tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau are quite limited, so enhancing this area with cloud-hosted interactive dashboards and seamless auto-refresh options would greatly improve user experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, I think for what this solution does, it's pretty much all there."
"The setup is straightforward. It's very easy to install."
"It is easy to set up the product."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"The most important features are it works well and provides self-service BI."
"The initial setup was easy, and we also used some YouTube videos for guidance."
"The most valuable thing is that it is easy to connect with Microsoft tools. In Europe, particularly in France, a lot of companies use Excel, SQL Server, and other Microsoft tools, and it is easier to connect SSIS with Microsoft tools than other products."
"The most valuable aspect of this solution is that it is simple to use and it offers a flexible custom script task."
"We had an unsupported version of Hyperion that needed to be replaced, and Toad Data Point allowed us to quickly transition to a similar solution and to easily convert all of our preexisting queries (more than 300) to the new solution with minimum effort."
"What I like the most about Toad Data Point is the automation feature, which is mostly useful for us, and I have not found it in any other systems that I have worked with so far, and it can easily schedule any automation tasks that we provide."
"In my opinion, the best features that Toad Data Point offers are the security that it provides when connecting all sorts of databases, and moreover, we do not have to rely on multiple DB connectors for that; we can use Toad Data Point as a single source of connections for all DBs, and that serves the purpose of connecting all these DB flavors that we have in the industry on a single platform instead of installing multiple DBs and their UI."
"The most valuable features of Toad Data are you could write a parameterized query and it wouldn't error out, it would give you the parameters that you could input. The auto-formatting feature is useful because it was great for keeping your queries neat and understandable. The auto comment, and uncomment toggles that you could do were convenient."
"We love it."
"Toad Data Point plays a crucial role in data-driven decision-making processes by facilitating data access and retrieval operations, data analysis, validations, quality checks, and performance monitoring for scenarios such as slow running queries, high database loads, or system bottlenecks, which are valuable for troubleshooting and debugging."
"I have never experienced any issues with customer service."
"It provides better SQL development tooling than SQL Developer, which is not a sufficient tool for all development use cases. It offers power developers the tools they need."

Cons

"We In upgrading SSIS, we encountered challenges fixing SQL Server and performance issues, including problems during a failover in our data warehouse."
"When I compare Talend and SSIS, Talend provides more features. With Talend, we can handle a large volume of data. Talend is usually used to treat a large volume of data, which makes it better than SSIS on the data side. Talend also has a very good Talend Management Console to schedule the jobs and do other things. It can also be easily connected to version control tools such as GitHub or SVN. The last time I used SSIS, it was connected through TSS for the Windows Console version. I am not sure it has been improved or not. If it is not improved, Microsoft should improve it. They should change the product to provide another console."
"At one point, we did have to purchase an add-on."
"I would like to see more features in terms of the integration with Azure Data Factory."
"Involving a data lake or data engineering aspects would be useful. While it is there, we need more features included."
"It's difficult to refactor SSIS. It gets cumbersome to reuse the solution."
"SSIS should be made a little bit more intuitive and user-friendly because it needs an expert-level person to work on it."
"The solution could improve by having quicker release updates."
"On the scheduling server, some scheduled reports just sit there and never execute for the first time."
"Visualizations compared to tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau are quite limited, so enhancing this area with cloud-hosted interactive dashboards and seamless auto-refresh options would greatly improve user experience."
"On the scheduling server, some scheduled reports just sit there and never execute for the first time. After manually executing the first time, they run with no issues."
"The Mac license is incredibly expensive. It is 1,600 dollars each, which is more than the Windows version. Scalability is difficult when it is that costly."
"It's not user-friendly. Once you start using it, you eventually get to know the features."
"I used their report writing a little bit, however, it could improve since it's not a really good report writer and it's a little clunky."
"It's not user-friendly. Once you start using it, you eventually get to know the features."
"I rate it a seven because I have noticed that there are other similar platforms or applications available that do the job Toad Data Point does in a better way; for example, DBeaver is a similar application that works better at times."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It comes bundled with other solutions, which makes it difficult to get the price on the specific product."
"I'm not involved in licensing details, but SSIS provides value to our organization by simplifying data management tasks."
"The solution is economical. You don't have to worry about the pricing as long as you're installing both services on the same server."
"We purchased the standard edition of SQL Server and SSIS came with it free of charge."
"All of my clients have this product included as part of their Microsoft license."
"SSIS is a cheaper option compared to the cost of other ETL tools."
"My advice is to look at what your configuration will be because most companies have their own deals with Microsoft."
"t's incredibly cost effective, easy to learn the basics quickly (although like all ETL tools requires the traditional learning curve to get good at) and has an immense user base."
"The cost of this product is reasonable."
"The Mac licenses are expensive, costing 1,600 dollars each. This is much higher than for the Windows version. I maintain a very limited number of licenses due to this cost."
"The price of Toad Data Point was approximately $500 annually."
