Automated lifecycle management has cut onboarding times and now drives secure, clean access
Although I am a fan of Okta Platform overall, there are areas where it could improve security outcomes and reduce admin friction. My top improvement areas include the system log and analytics upgrade, which are great for point troubleshooting, but trending and root cause analysis across large tenants still require exporting to SIEM. Verbose queries and long-range retention costs can add up. Additionally, while certificate rotations are better than most, the process is still manual for busy portfolios, especially concerning multi-SP SAML certificate rotations and app metadata drift. Two more buckets of potential improvements for Okta Platform involve user experience and security. There is the issue of push fatigue and prompt sprawl, where users receive multiple prompts across different apps and sessions. I arrived at the rating of eight because the core controls are strong and reliable, but a few operational UX and UI gaps prevent it from being rated higher. The reasons for not giving it a nine or ten include ongoing issues concerning safety and change safety, the complexity of group rules and mappings, and the lack of robustness in policy management. Additionally, there remains a need for more manual involvement than necessary, especially for large portfolios and dual certificate rotation, along with proactive SP data metadata validation.

Access lifecycle has been streamlined but connectors for non‑human identities still need improvement
We currently use IdentityIQ and do not have SailPoint Identity Security Cloud. We only have IdentityIQ on-premises. I do not have extensive experience with analytics, but I know that there are custom reports available to obtain information about data in SailPoint. I am not entirely familiar with analytics data. It is difficult to score because you have to compare with another product to assess it. We are satisfied with IdentityIQ. However, I understand that we will not have a choice but to move to a cloud solution in the future because SailPoint is not investing in new upgrades or evolution of IdentityIQ. My overall rating for this product is 7.

One of the challenges regarding Saviynt is the lack of material available on the web, as searching on Google or YouTube often yields little information. Advertising Saviynt is necessary because I was not aware of it a couple of months ago, and it is a very helpful product for many organizations. In India, IGA solutions are not widely recognized, and Saviynt can utilize this point by promoting itself in the cybersecurity field. A significant challenge is the lack of people discussing Saviynt in the open market, as the forums provide slower responses compared to platforms like Reddit. Advancements related to AI would be very helpful. Saviynt should provide pricing for their university certifications, which is currently not publicly available. Information about enrolling requires an ID that is not easily obtained, as it can only be acquired through an organization. Some small wishlist features are related to APIs. As I work on projects, I find certain features to be much needed, but at a glance, they may not seem necessary. As I continue working with Saviynt, these small API-related features become apparent and would greatly enhance the experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With the help of Okta and its outstanding user friendly UI, integrating more than 300 applications went fairly easily."
"The most valuable functions are Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)."
"The most valuable aspects of the solution are the integration with external websites one-factor authentication."
"We are able to look at our ROI from this solution as an intangible benefit, as the solution requires a lot of human capital but offers us security so in our opinion we have received a high ROI as this is something that we have planned for and invested in."
"Okta Workforce Identity is reliable, and its user experience and user interface are great."
"The most valuable feature of this solution for most customers is access management."
"One of the features that I have found to be very valuable is its interoperability and compatibility with all types of resources, whether it's networking, infrastructure, or applications. That is, it is compatible as well as interoperable, as far as the federated authentication is concerned."
"You get a real value for your money; whatever amount you spend, you get a bang for it, as Okta Platform is decently priced, delivers the features and functionality you need, and satisfies your use cases without hidden costs or add-ons for integration."
"Basically, how the entitlements are handled is very good; it's the complete lifecycle of entitlements, it offers a single source of truth, everything can be handled from one tier, and the interface is simple and very usable."
"The solution can be customized to adapt the workflow to our industry, offering considerable flexibility."
"The solution is very good at the management of the identity lifecycle."
"Manager Certification helped to review user access and revoked unnecessary accesses to various applications."
"Provisioning in multiple environments."
"It provides one solution for the entire process in a complex environment with different types of applications and connectors."
"It is simple and easy to implement."
"SailPoint IdentityIQ has more enriched out-of-box connectors than the others."
"It is a flexible tool because it works on JSON."
"Saviynt provides built-in access recommendations, while SailPoint IdentityNow offers access recommendations through a separate AI integration that requires additional licensing. Saviynt functions as a unified platform for various business operations, consolidating user and access data from multiple sources into a single platform. This allows for leveraging the same user base and data across different business functions, including access governance, privileged access management, data access governance, and third-party access governance. In contrast, SailPoint is a decoupled tool, requiring separate integration for managing access and permissions, especially for unstructured data. Saviynt's approach is more integrated and streamlined, providing a unified platform for access recommendations and various business operations."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of implementation."
"Saviynt has a lot of potential with many features available for users."
"Saviynt risk-based access requests and intelligent access controls have made a significant impact on our company."
"Saviynt is easy to configure and manage."
"Compared to other tools, you'll have a lot of confidence accessing Saviynt because it's a pretty straightforward tool."
"It's easy to manage and easy to use; a simple tool for end-users."

Cons

"I think pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Okta Platform are on the higher side."
"The only improvement point I would suggest for Okta Platform is that it needs to redesign the feature request system because there are many important features that are not taken into consideration."
"The integration with third-party tools needs to be improved."
"The product is expensive compared to other tools."
"We experienced some technical glitches that need to be resolved."
"When I started, there were some UI challenges. The UI could be improved to make it better because I had to watch many tutorials to become familiar with their UI flow and integrations."
"To improve Okta Platform, I think they should enhance the 2LO service-to-service aspect by integrating more features on the MCP side, allowing for authentication of containers running on the gateway."
"I would not say Okta Platform is a cost-effective solution. It is an enterprise-grade solution, so it is comparatively on the higher side in terms of cost."
"Some of the configuration options could be more automated, but this is a complex problem and I do not expect a simple solution."
"Finding integration experts for SailPoint in the North American market can be challenging, and transitioning to a no-code or low-code setup could reduce dependence on specialized skills."
"The solution's technical support team's response time and skills need improvement since it is an area where there are shortcomings."
"It is not readily available and cannot be downloaded from the net."
"The customer support process is slow at times because they do not have proper language support for my clients in Latin America speaking Spanish."
"There's a lot of customization required to improve the user experience."
"In general, I have handled Okta and OpenText and noted that those companies have a longer history in the market, which gives them an advantage over SailPoint Identity Security Cloud and Saviynt in aspects like account provisioning and life cycle management."
"Certification functions adequately. However, I think there are limitations with connectors."
"The biggest drawback is that for every change you want to make, you have to go back to them and ask for it."
"The UI doesn’t enhance the user experience."
"Compared to other vendors, Saviynt's Privileged Access Management feature is not complete."
"Considering the shortcomings of the tool, I would say that the training part of the product needs improvement."
"The main difficulty was the integration process itself. But we were able to kind of work through it and fix it. We tried integrating with our HR system and other IBM solutions, like Microsoft Identity Management."
"Saviynt cannot customize based on customer needs."
"The product lacks a broad user base which makes it difficult sometimes to find answers to questions about the product."
"The customer support and implementation services need to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing is per user per month and includes full technical support."
"Price-wise, Okta Workforce Identity is a cheap solution. The overall cost depends on the license since you can negotiate with Okta or any of Okta's partners only if you opt for many licenses."
"Though I don't know about the licensing model of the product, I wouldn't be surprised if Okta offers a per user license subscription model."
"The solution is not the cheapest but not the most expensive. They are in the middle rating."
"The product's price is high. For each feature, a certain payment is required."
"This is an expensive solution but the security makes it worthwhile."
"The price of the solution is good."
"Workforce Identity is well-priced."
"SailPoint is expensive compared to its competitors. It's one of the most expensive products, so I'd rate it as one out of five, cost-wise."
"Usually, the cost of deploying about 5,000 licenses or 5,000 users, would be the equivalent to the cost of the license, which would be reaching up to around $90,000."
"The pricing is based on the number of users and is reasonable."
"SailPoint IdentityIQ is too expensive for small and medium companies. It is an expensive product."
"They are expensive."
"As per my knowledge, it runs on a paid partnership model, but I am not sure about it."
"It is affordable licensing."
"The price of the solution could improve, it is not priced well for smaller businesses to afford."
"We are not into the licensing part. The clients take care of the licensing part."
"The product is less expensive than one of the competitors."
"The price of the license for this product is quite expensive."
"The pricing is comparable to Azure Entra ID. Kind of the same"
"If you need to make any changes then there are additional fees."
"If you are investing in securing your data and avoiding any non-compliance issues, then yes, it is certainly recommended. To put it plainly, if you're willing to pay fines and aren't concerned about the misuse of data, then there might not be a problem. However, if you intend to safeguard the data of your employees, vendors, and customers, it becomes crucial. In this context, managing data security requires preventive and detective measures, such as enforcing segregation of duties and regularly reviewing permissions. Throughout an individual's life cycle within an organization or customer life cycle, various access permissions are granted. Without taking action on these permissions, there is a risk of exposure later on. If individuals retain access after leaving the organization, it poses a serious security threat. Implementing solutions like Saviynt can address these challenges, ensuring continuous access review, generating reports, alerts, and identifying potential risks."
"Saviynt's pricing is reasonable."
"Saviynt has a competitive price."
