Automation has streamlined onboarding and governance and delivers faster, more secure access
Overall, we are very satisfied with Active Roles by One Identity, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The user interface could be more modern and intuitive, especially for new administrators. Some advanced configuration and policy settings have a steep learning curve and could be simplified. We would also like to see more built-in integrations with cloud platforms and SaaS applications, along with additional out-of-the-box reporting templates. These improvements would make the product even easier and more flexible for organizations managing hybrid environments. One thing that would make our daily work even smoother is having more ready-to-use templates for common administrative tasks and reports. This would reduce the need for customization and help teams get up and running more quickly. Additionally, faster and simpler synchronization for hybrid and cloud environments would be beneficial, especially for organizations managing both on-premises and cloud identities. More detailed documentation and guided setup for advanced features would help new administrators learn the platform faster and more easily. One additional improvement I would like to see for Active Roles by One Identity is a better built-in dashboard with more real-time insights into identity and access activities. It would be helpful if upgrades and migrations were simpler and required less planning. Finally, expanding native integrations with more cloud services and third-party applications would make the platform even more versatile and reliable. These enhancements would improve the overall user experience while keeping the product's strong security and automation capabilities.

One of the challenges regarding Saviynt is the lack of material available on the web, as searching on Google or YouTube often yields little information. Advertising Saviynt is necessary because I was not aware of it a couple of months ago, and it is a very helpful product for many organizations. In India, IGA solutions are not widely recognized, and Saviynt can utilize this point by promoting itself in the cybersecurity field. A significant challenge is the lack of people discussing Saviynt in the open market, as the forums provide slower responses compared to platforms like Reddit. Advancements related to AI would be very helpful. Saviynt should provide pricing for their university certifications, which is currently not publicly available. Information about enrolling requires an ID that is not easily obtained, as it can only be acquired through an organization. Some small wishlist features are related to APIs. As I work on projects, I find certain features to be much needed, but at a glance, they may not seem necessary. As I continue working with Saviynt, these small API-related features become apparent and would greatly enhance the experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Active Roles is easy to configure. It isn't a plug-and-play solution, and you need expertise to set it up. However, once you have your templates, it's easy to deploy in a highly decentralized environment. The custom configuration for our customers is fantastic, especially the web interface."
"One Identity Active Roles has impacted our organization positively because the biggest benefit has been reducing manual administration through automation and standardized workflows, so tasks such as onboarding, offboarding, group assignments, and access requests are now much faster and more consistent than before, helping create a more structured identity management process across the organization."
"Active Roles is a thousand times better than native Microsoft tools."
"After moving to One Identity Active Roles, I achieve better automation, improved security through controlled delegation, and enhanced compliance with detailed auditing and reporting, significantly improving efficiency and reducing operational risk compared to the previous approach."
"One positive impact we noticed from One Identity Active Roles was improved operational efficiency; earlier, many user management tasks were handled manually, which took more time and sometimes created inconsistencies, but using intelligent role-based workflows and automation made onboarding and access modification faster and more standardized, and we also saw better control over privileged access since permissions were delegated properly, reducing high-level administrative rights, which improved accountability and balanced security with operational speed."
"After moving to One Identity Active Roles, we automated many of the routine processes and introduced delegated administration, which significantly reduced the workload of non-senior administrators."
"Instead of deleting accounts, we like the deprovision option so that we can reverse any accidental deletions. It also gives a higher level of quality control in terms of enforcing any number of variables, such as making sure that an account has a description entered before the account can be created. We can backtrack and know the history of it that way."
"It has helped increase operational efficiency in our organization."
"The product has a great attestation feature."
"Saviynt has a lot of potential with many features available for users."
"Saviynt has improved our organization, as it is a straightforward solution that allows you to configure things very fast, partly because of the JSON and Autobox functionality."
"It is very easy to use. It addresses most of the trends in identity governance and risk management."
"The most valuable features of Saviynt are database utility and report generation. These two features have a major impact, particularly when you are trying to create a report because, in other systems, you need to use a third-party utility such as a BI tool or any other reporting tool to fetch the data and send out the report to a third party team. In Saviynt, it's a system within a system, so you don't have to use any third-party tool because you can directly do your query and write that code on Saviynt and then send that report to the team."
"The first valuable feature is the approach to solving the identity problem, where access risk is the focus of solving any problem, and the second is their deeper integration with enterprise systems like SAP, Microsoft, Adobe, and AWS, which gives Saviynt an edge."
"We use the solution primarily because of its great features."
"The feature that we use the most is the global, third-party user management."

Cons

"I think its governance and security are very good. If they use a third party as an AI, the security may be compromised. However, if they are using their inbuilt assistance, it gives a very good result."
"One Identity Active Roles does not require many improvements, but for upcoming or new users, there should be an easier initial setup and configuration."
"One Identity Active Roles is a mature and reliable product, but there are definitely areas where it could be improved."
"One Identity Active Roles can be improved, as the user interface could be more modernized and the reporting and analytics feature could be enhanced."
"One area that could be improved in One Identity Active Roles is the user interface and initial configuration process, as some advanced workflows and policy settings can be complex for new administrators."
"One area where One Identity Active Roles can be improved is in the user interface. It can feel outdated and not very intuitive for new users."
"The main area of improvement would be the user interface and ease of configuration, particularly configuration with AD should be much improved."
"The main improvement I would like to see for One Identity Active Roles is a more modern and intuitive interface, along with more customizable reporting and dashboards to enhance our experience with the platform."
"One of the challenges regarding Saviynt is the lack of material available on the web, as searching on Google or YouTube often yields little information."
"The UI doesn’t enhance the user experience."
"An area for improvement in Saviynt is that there's a limitation on the number of logs you can get from the past twenty-four hours. For example, if the data is huge, the tool can only give you a maximum of one hundred logs. You can't get any further than that. In the next version of Saviynt, however, you can get more logs and you'll see them inside the log rotation. For example, when you're trying to search inside the log, you can select a date range, and then you can search for a particular log. We haven't used that new log rotation feature yet, but it's included in the next release of Saviynt. Another area for improvement in the tool is that it doesn't have a server monitoring feature, so if your server has a high load, it should give you a warning. You're supposed to get an alert similar to what's being done in WebLogic. In WebLogic, we had a separate facility, but in Saviynt, that feature's missing."
"It is time-consuming to troubleshoot issues."
"On a scale from one to ten (where one is the worst and ten is the best), I would rate my experience with Saviynt so far as maybe only a four-out-of-ten."
"The product can improve the customer support offered to users since it is an area with shortcomings."
"Saviynt cannot customize based on customer needs."
"The biggest drawback is that for every change you want to make, you have to go back to them and ask for it."
