Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

"It's given us the ability for anyone to know how our customers experience our application."
"It has a simple initial setup."
"We chose New Relic because it has all the attributes which we are using to monitor the health of servers."
"Their technical support is pretty good and responsive. We have a real good relationship with them."
"Performance management is a shared concern and APM tools must be used by all people involved in the build and run process."
"Great reduction in resolution time: proactive identification of errors before users send incidents."
"Nudge APM helps my organization to meet all SLA requirements, thanks to alert triggers."
"Gives us clear information on what is going wrong and where we need to focus to improve our applications, with real added value in our IT internal and external organization as we open Nudge APM dashboard to our outsourced suppliers."

Cons

"Errors insights have room for improvement especially error analysis part which is somewhat less compared to similar tool Splunk."
"There are some 5 minutes interruptions that we don't know where they come from, 24x7 confirmed the web was ok so it must be the tool."
"The product has good documentation for Linux, however, their documentation for Windows is lacking substantially. It's something they need to develop."
"It’s generally stable, but last year it was a little flaky."
"I would like to have storage monitoring. E.g., being able to monitor SANS, specifically protocols, like NFS and CIFS metrics."
"In Alert History, while you can see the trending in response time by Request Queuing, .NER CLR and Database, if you had the ability to see which transaction type was the slowest during the timeframe when the critical error occurred by displaying the info within the same “tool tip” hover window which currently gives me the time per request and number of transactions, i.e., if it had the additional correlation information of “StatusCode/403” which you can get from the Events Errors hover."
"It would be nice if there were pre-made dashboards. There should be out-of-the-box options that you can have."
"New Relic needs to improve is the user data schema."
"There is room for improvement on the portal to access the collected data, but it has already been enhanced with great zooming features."
"No automatic alerting"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
"Pricing is better with New Relic APM than Dynatrace."
"We deploy everything on AWS. Purchasing the product on AWS Marketplace made it easier for us."
"Comparatively, the pricing is expensive."
"If I remember it correctly, the pricing was based on the core, and the monthly subscription used to cost us $1,500 or $2,000. We had pre-prod and production services. Costing was different for pre-prod and production. For pre-prod, it was 40% less than the production service cost. It was a combined package."
"They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
"The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
"We spend somewhere around $5,000 to $6,000 per month with an annual recommitment of maybe $60,000. These are just ballpark figures."
