We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has has been successfully backed up and what not. I do not mean the file or folder view, because that's problematic with GDPR, but I mean which machines have successfully backed up. It's very valuable because you don't have to check the machines. The second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal.""Provides connectivity to a lot of different cloud storage solutions.""The feature that I have found most valuable is its online backup capacity because you don't have to do an entire backup again and again, it just does whatever you type in, you type a, it goes a, you type b, it goes b. It doesn't take an entire site up again and again. So that incremental and bit by bit backup is important, it is a nice feature here.""Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end.""The UI is pretty good. It's very simple. That is one thing that we like about this. It's very user-friendly.""The solution is easy to access and handles things efficiently.""MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface.""The solution is simple to use and easy to configure."

"The normal file system backup is easy to manage, and our success rate is quite high.""Regarding scalability, it's unlimited with Data Protector. You can link multiple installations and let them work together. They can share backup devices. You have many possibilities with Data Protector. It's very proficient.""The most valuable feature of Data Protector is its integration with VMware. A lot of software these days integrates with VMware, and you can run some of these things on virtual machines. You can even have your backup manager running on a virtual machine and use physical managers to move data around. Their VMware integration isn't too bad, but Commvault has that feature, and many other backup products do.""The file system backup (by far, the most used) is the most valuable feature.""The installation was simple and provided an easy way to install even on Unix servers. It has excellent features like deduplication.""It is a traditional backup model. If you talk about file server and the official Windows database, it's a stable product.""The command-line interface is user-friendly and well documented in the reference guide.""The most valuable feature is the capability to back up our SQL server."

Cons
"We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines.""The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated.""As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing."""The solution's pricing is very high.""There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station.""Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default.""The initial setup is a little complex as it has to be done in the office and requires someone to come in and install the solution on your server, then configure the scheduling, backup pushing, and so on.""The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point. They say they are GDPR compliant, but they are not."

More MSP360 Backup Cons →

"The interface has been the same for many years and needs to be updated""We're not satisfied with the robustness and stability of the software since Micro Focus took it in-house. The GUI is one thing they could improve. It's still a bit archaic. Data Protector needs a more functional, user-friendly GUI.""In terms of what can be improved, I would say integrations with MongoDB. We use MongoDB and we need to go to scripts to do backups. We need more integrations.""Micro Focus Data Protector must improve its overall evolution record. They need to focus on hardware based instant recovery, client recovery, and cloud ability. Now there is no cloud ability.""Other tools seem to be easier to use.""It can occasionally be inaccurate in its backup/recovery time estimates.""I don't like this solution so much because it's very technical and compared to Commvault and Veeam, it's not so user-friendly. The interface needs improvement.""People prefer Veeam because the interface is easier, and Data Protector is difficult in comparison."

  • "MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
  • "The solution is expensive."

  • "The licensing structure provides cost savings to business."
  • "It is fast, reliable, and its licensing policy is great."
  • "Avoid using many LTO drives; when using fewer drives, the price will be extremely good."

  • "The licensing cost was not annual. We didn't pay any license. We paid when we deployed and we didn't pay for anything after that. There were no additional fees after the initial payment."
  • "The pricing is around $3,000 to $5,000. The charge additionally for support and to scale."
