The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
    Pros and Cons
    • "I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup."
    • "Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service."

What is our primary use case?

We are a managed service provider that's migrating more into cybersecurity, and I knew I needed a backup solution. I evaluated different backup solutions and needed something more robust. I evaluated MSP360 because it came recommended through one of my community groups.

    What is most valuable?

I have a lot of experience working with OneDrive and G-Suite for nonprofits. They often have data on both personal and corporate OneDrive accounts and the ability to back up consumer cloud drives, such as OneDrive and Google Drive is the most valuable feature.

    What needs improvement?

MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge.

Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for a few months.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is decent, but I don't want to know the details of the backup and we almost have to pay attention to that a little bit more with MSP360 Backup because it's more granular. That's one of the challenges I had with the service, but that granularity also gives us some flexibility. We have different types of storage, and we have different vendors for storage. In essence, the solution lets us control our overall backup cost a little bit better. However, we have to understand what we're doing to make that work.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server. That doesn't include any storage space. I ended up getting one of the integrated plans offered by MSP360 Backup that included storage because there was a promo. The price was ten dollars per workstation for a certain amount of storage which included our Azure, but it wasn't the same as Kohl, because we still paid $28 per terabyte bucket for, Azure, and every time we go up a terabyte, it's another $28 in addition to that ten dollars per work station.

Given the solution's complex pricing for my target market. I didn't want to lose money on it, so I turned the solution off until I found a customer who would really benefit from it.

What other advice do I have?

I give the solution an eight out of ten.

MSP360 Backup is a good product and it works well. I was never able to test restoration because I don't have the backup environment I need to work in. I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup. I could see the data, it was very simple to understand and easy to manage.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Enables you to remotely see which machines are backed up. Simplifies backup and monitoring tasks for a reasonable price.
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has has been successfully backed up and what not. I do not mean the file or folder view, because that's problematic with GDPR, but I mean which machines have successfully backed up. It's very valuable because you don't have to check the machines. The second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal."
    • "The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point. They say they are GDPR compliant, but they are not."

What is our primary use case?

I'm a system engineer and we have implemented MSP360 Backup for a few customers.

We have a complete setup for a few customers where they are integrated in our portal. We are using the cloud solution from MSP360 at the moment, not the standalone product.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has has been successfully backed up and what has not. It's very valuable because you don't have to check the machines. The second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using MSP360 Backup for three months.

    How was the initial setup?

    The initial setup is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    MSP360 Backup's pricing is reasonable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are not working only with MSP360. We are also working with all the backup solutions simultaneously, including Veeam and Altaro.

If we compare these products, I would recommend Veeam more when you need to make an on site backup.

It's a question of the use case. We mainly use Veeam for onsite backup, but we want to move to cloud backup and Veeam has its weaknesses there. That's why we are reevaluating the backup software and that's why we are considering moving away from Veeam . At the very moment the portal solution of MSP360 is superior to Veeam.

What other advice do I have?

MSP360 Backup is a good product. Check if you need to be GDPR compliant.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud
