Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I love being able to "check off" a task by changing its status to "done." It also disappears off the list when you complete it.""Monday.com has allowed us to organize our workload in a much more efficient way.""It's probably one of the most user-friendly platforms I've ever used.""It has kept us very organized.""The reminder function and tagging function work really well.""I am able to keep much better track of all current projects and each aspect of individual projects, which has helped to make team meetings a breeze.""Board templates are really good when you have recurring projects.""The product gives the whole team an overall view of the status of every single project that we develop, alongside budget management and support triage."

"Has a powerful workflow engine that allows creation of workflow complexities and processes.""Micro Focus Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) has a very strong workflow engine."

"The most useful features of Planview are its integration with resource management and the ability to commit and reserve various resources.""The workspace ease, navigation, and portfolios are the most valuable aspects of this solution. I just got access to the portfolios from my upper management, so I'm able to look at our specific SRE portfolio to see what's a priority, look at how many hours we've tracked, and things like that. I'm not so much included in the budgeting but it's important to see what projects are higher priority and so forth.""Projectplace absolutely supports collaboration in real-time. It's probably one of the best tools out there for collaboration. It affects the project's progress quite a bit. I have started two very similar projects in two separate business units, on very similar teams. I did one with Enterprise One, I did one with Projectplace just to see how the mileage would vary. The one with Projectplace had a very short cycle time so we were able to finish the project earlier. The one with Enterprise One was less engaging and it took a little more time. Because we were tracking the tasks inside the schedule it was not on the cards.""I love the collaborative nature just from my role to help. I'm a strategist. I help manage those large strategic projects. Implementation is one significant piece of my role, but I love the collaboration that can exist within the tool.""Right from the initial steps, we found this product easy to use.""The overall user interface is fantastic. It has been very easy to learn and use. Any non-technical person with some initial training can work on it from day one, which is very good. The learning material is very good and easy to learn. There is no need to spend additional money on the training.""Clarizen's slide publisher is one of my favorite features.""Projectplace has excellent collaboration features, including some nice kanban boards. We use DocuSign, and Planview just integrated it into Projectplace, so that was helpful. And I like the fact that it links to Enterprise One, the other Planview tool that we use to manage our capital portfolio."

Cons
"The system could collate information from other boards easier.""Sometimes the limit of parts on a board (500 units) can inhibit growth.""We often have problems with bugs and slow service.""One item we feel we is missing is more board templates that would allow us to work within the agile methodology.""It could have a few more features when it comes to managing projects.""Having more integrations for different specialties that use Monday would be great.""The inbox and notifications section is not great, therefore, we don't use the comments field to communicate with each other.""Service being down happens to often. They need to create a desktop version that stores the info locally so that when their servers are down, I can keep working and accessing my data. Then it could be uploaded when their servers are online."

More monday.com Cons →

"The solution can sometimes be a little inflexible and a bit caustic.""The user interface is very, very old and is missing some functions, such as, for example, re-do, follow, and share functions. The UI is not good."

More Micro Focus Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Cons →

"The reporting end of it needs improvement. There should be more reporting, more data at your fingertips. It should be easier and a little more user-friendly. I know there is some there, but it's just how do you get more meat on the bones, if you will, of what's available.""It needs some improvement in the project planning reports, ad hoc reports, and some big file transfers are a challenge. If you were going to transfer some 10 MB or 12 MB document with your team members, then it might have some problems in uploading and sharing those files. The overall dashboard view needs some advancement in its visualizations and uploading a large file size is a challenge.""The time reporting is an excellent feature that they can show from an individual. The only problem I see is the description field. You can't increase that field, like to pull the column and widen the column that I've seen. I'm not seeing anywhere you could do that. Because you may have some of these cards that start with the same name and you only have so much real estate. There should be a way to adjust those columns somewhat so you can look at the description or hover over it and it tells you what the description is.""We'd like to see a heartier connection between Projectplace and Enterprise One. We know that's on their roadmap, but they haven't gotten there yet. Planview could also make better use of Projectplace's template capability.""If the mobile app were improved to show more information then it would be good.""They should also improve the interface. There are other competitors like Microsoft Project for the web, Wrike, Team Gantt who have a way better, modern user interface.""Planview is a resource management and project management system. Projectplace allows you to create boards and associate some of Planview's work breakdown structure as a top-level tree under which you can place cards, but there are many limitations because when you make a change in Planview, it is reflected in Projectplace. However, except for a few specific things, changes made in Projectplace are not ported back to Planview. At this point, they're two completely different products. The flaw is that there is very little integration between the two.""I believe that the graphs, reporting, and connection with the slides are areas that need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
  • "The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
  • "The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
  • "Fees are paid monthly per user."
  • "The price is reasonable for the number of users we have."
  • "I am using its free version."
  • "We tell others it's about $2200 for a ten-person plan and it can be adjusted; it's easy to scale."

  • "We have an annual license, and it is fairly priced in comparison to that of other solutions."
  • More Micro Focus Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I think the price of Projectplace is highly reasonable for the amount of functionality that you get. We have what they call a FLEX License. That means you get Projectplace, Enterprise One, and Leankits all on the same license. That's great because then you can use the other products without any additional cost."
  • "In my opinion, the pricing is reasonable."
  • "I believe it is a good value for money for the service they provide and the tailored program. When compared to Microsoft Project."
  • "The cost of this product is mid-range. It's not too expensive but not the cheapest on the market."
  • "Pricing might be a challenge because it costs around $29 to $30 per user a month. If you have a large user base, around 100 to 200 users, then it might be costly for an organization. For organizations who do not have a comprehensive overall budget, it might be a challenge."
  • "I would say the licensing maturity was probably a three out of five. They have a long way to go before they can scale out and retain enterprise customers."
