Offers effective monitoring of resources but lacks the ability to connect to an AWS instance and write custom queries.
We use it mainly for monitoring, including CPU, memory, and disk space, and for troubleshooting purposes We've set up alerts to notify us when performance deviates from the baseline we've configured for each resource. So, whenever that happens, we get an alert and can investigate immediately. So,…

Unified monitoring has improved event handling but needs stronger AI automation and modern dashboards
OpenText AI Operations Management could benefit from a fully integrated AI system, which we call AIOps. A fully integrated AI operations system would be valuable in the future. Additionally, the UI experience could be more comfortable. We are not using predictive features in OpenText AI Operations Management such as anomaly detection. In the future, we may be able to operate with our customer, but we need to decide this collectively. You need to see the big picture and understand what the customer's pain points are to find the right tuning. Normally, predictive features can be more useful, but this is an end-to-end solution that needs to be customized. You need to understand the exact customer needs. The predictive analytics feature is very close to being integrated, but it is not fully integrated at this time.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Ability to identify bottlenecks, deadlocks and slow running queries and run monthly and daily reports."
"We're able to diagnose issues prior to their actually becoming issues. Without the alerting, we wouldn't have a clue as to what was going to happen. With the alerting, it gives us a heads-up that a specific threshold has been met, and we need to take specific action."
"SQL DM made troubleshooting much easier and allowed multiple people to look into an issue with confidence."
"Overall, it has allowed us to do more with database management and run more databases on a given server, because we're able to isolate issues quicker and take the proactive steps necessary to correct them."
"The ability to go back and look at historical data is the most valuable feature."
"Monitors and alerts on our mission critical instances in real-time on a 24/7 basis."
"The most valuable features are disk space projections for planning, and also the Snapshotting ability, to look back in time, to see what was going on the server at a particular time. It's basically the output of an sp_who2."
"Baselining our SQL Servers has made a huge impact."
"I've found the solution to be very scalable."
"OpsBridge has good event correlation facilities and root-cause identification algorithms."
"OpsBridge is powerful, comprehensive, and well suited to organizations with the budget to justify it."
"We have a bunch of critical servers and applications, and we are able to monitor using this product to create a dashboard and have automatic alerts to notify the responsible team."
"The broad integration possibilities, I'd say, with any kind of product, are probably the most valuable feature."
"The broad integration possibilities, I'd say, with any kind of product, are probably the most valuable feature."
"We now have a consolidated dashboard that shows availability and performance across key business services, enabling cost optimization, scalability, and efficiencies as we transform multiple monitoring teams into one working off a single console with all the data in one place."
"The core manager also allows for the creation of a custom dashboard, and users can use the cache from the dashboard which can include images."

Cons

"It would helpful if SQL DM could mark when changes are made within the program."
"Reporting and overall analysis of data gathered from SQL Server."
"One thing I'd like to see is the ability to view the execution plan and have the system automatically recommend potential query optimizations, especially at the query level."
"I don't have that functionality, which is very disappointing. That's pretty bad and frustrating because I could query it and find out so much information about what's hitting my environment and when, but instead, they want control over it and to not give me that information."
"They can improve checking the status of the CPU, memory, and IO utilization from each task."
"The initial setup gives too many user rights to the server, so you have to put a user that is part administrator's group - that's the preferred way - on each server, which is kind of a risk. You want to do least privilege and you're not doing that."
"Scalability is what I mentioned earlier, regarding room for improvement. It doesn't seem to scale out to an environment as large as ours, with just a single monitoring server."
"We don't find that it helps us with performance monitoring and diagnostics. We find that SentryOne does that better. Also, in terms of alerts, we had to customize them dramatically so that we didn't get alerted on every little thing."
"The initial setup is not exactly straightforward. It's complex as it's not just one product."
"The past year has not been very good in terms of technical support; there were long waits before replying, and very often we find the solution ourselves before the support engineers do."
"What needs improvement in Micro Focus Operations Bridge is its resource heaviness because you need many resources to deploy and support it. It's a good solution for larger organizations, but for small businesses, not so much."
"The solution is overall "heavy", requiring multiple servers, even without HA."
"Installing and upgrading the HPOM and Operations Agent software is not always easy and the process can be quite fragile."
"I think it could be improved with regard to response time, and getting the proper resources."
"There is need to have more out-of-the-box support for HPE products itself."
"I see room for improvement in the licensing scheme area. It's getting more complex day by day."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable, it's comparable with the competitors."
"We were upgraded to Premium Support without their actually asking us, when we were quoted. Then I asked for Standard Support and that they had to re-quote us that. But they don't do that by default. They upcharge you by default, which I didn't think was very nice, without even asking."
"It is competitive."
"Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
"The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. Cost-wise, it's much more if you have more devices and features such as infrastructure monitoring, analytic dashboard, and business dashboard in your model."
"The cost is very high."
"The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
"As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
"Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
