A stable and scalable solution with reasonable pricing
The solution has high support capability.  The tool needs to improve its cloud service capability.  I have been working with the solution for 15 years.  I would rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten.  I would rate the tool's scalability a ten out of ten since it is highly scalable. We…

Automated lifecycle management has cut onboarding times and now drives secure, clean access
Although I am a fan of Okta Platform overall, there are areas where it could improve security outcomes and reduce admin friction. My top improvement areas include the system log and analytics upgrade, which are great for point troubleshooting, but trending and root cause analysis across large tenants still require exporting to SIEM. Verbose queries and long-range retention costs can add up. Additionally, while certificate rotations are better than most, the process is still manual for busy portfolios, especially concerning multi-SP SAML certificate rotations and app metadata drift. Two more buckets of potential improvements for Okta Platform involve user experience and security. There is the issue of push fatigue and prompt sprawl, where users receive multiple prompts across different apps and sessions. I arrived at the rating of eight because the core controls are strong and reliable, but a few operational UX and UI gaps prevent it from being rated higher. The reasons for not giving it a nine or ten include ongoing issues concerning safety and change safety, the complexity of group rules and mappings, and the lack of robustness in policy management. Additionally, there remains a need for more manual involvement than necessary, especially for large portfolios and dual certificate rotation, along with proactive SP data metadata validation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution has high support capability."
"The feature that I have found the most valuable is that they are open to connecting with any token. For example, a year ago, we were looking for a soft token, and we started to look for alternatives. They are open to connecting with any token that we looking for."
"The product is quite good, and from my point of view, it can serve our requirements."
"Valuable features include UD, SSO functionality, MFA and Adaptive MFA functionality, ability to link multiple Directory databases with UD."
"Okta Platform has positively impacted our organization by dramatically improving our security posture, enforcing Multi-factor Authentication across all applications, and increasing productivity by allowing employees to access all their tools with one set of credentials."
"Okta is not only a single sign-on platform but also life cycle management, the core of the identity management platform, and Okta Access Gateway can publish on-premise legacy applications to the cloud."
"The most valuable features of Okta Customer Identity are there is no infrastructure cost, integrated, has plenty of documentation, and is user-friendly."
"We can have all our applications in one central base where you can log into it and access it without having to enter your password for each application."
"I find the provisioning features and the integration with other applications useful."
"One of the features that I have found to be very valuable is its interoperability and compatibility with all types of resources, whether it's networking, infrastructure, or applications. That is, it is compatible as well as interoperable, as far as the federated authentication is concerned."
"This was a big money saver, which was much appreciated by our clients."

Cons

"The tool needs to improve its cloud capability."
"The user interface is not quite good and easy to use. There are a lot of menus, and the look and feel is not modern like a modern app."
"To improve Okta Platform, I think they should enhance the 2LO service-to-service aspect by integrating more features on the MCP side, allowing for authentication of containers running on the gateway."
"The training is too costly."
"One feature I can mention is that there should be an optional registration option for multiple MFA factors."
"It would be great if there were a way to save even my social media passwords and other passwords through Okta Platform and single sign-on through Okta Platform in the future."
"The only aspect in which it can be improved is that the interface could be cleaner."
"The only aspect in which it can be improved is that the interface could be cleaner. I found this even when I was trying to do my certification exam because the certification is hands-on. You find yourself fumbling around a little bit to find simple things. This happens even when you start to get familiar with the product."
"Okta Workforce Identity can improve by having more features in governance."
"There are some issues with the interface that can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten. The tool's licensing is monthly."
"Price-wise, Okta Workforce Identity is a cheap solution. The overall cost depends on the license since you can negotiate with Okta or any of Okta's partners only if you opt for many licenses."
"The licensing model is fine for general service usage. However, the charges for API features and API tokens can be quite high."
"This solution is costly. Pricing is decent if you have less users, but it significantly goes up the more users you have, with its cost not justified."
"License is around US$20,000 annually."
"Okta's pricing is right where it needs to be and right in the middle of the market."
"This is an expensive solution but the security makes it worthwhile."
"Okta has fairly competitive pricing."
"It has a yearly subscription. As compared to its competitors, it is quite expensive. It also has a complex licensing model."
