Displays data visually from multiple sources while integrating seamlessly with existing systems
Grafana provides a user-friendly interface for viewing infrastructure metrics through dashboards. It integrates with Prometheus to pull data and offers a straightforward setup process. Users can monitor metrics with greater ease, and the tool aids in quickly identifying issues by providing a visual representation of data. Grafana's integration capability is straightforward, which facilitates building dashboards as needed.

Proactive monitoring boosts system reliability but requires improved protocol support and script customization
Improvements can be made to OpenText Business Process Monitoring, especially since we have faced issues with protocol support and creating scripts in past implementations. Creating a proactive request requires a specific skill set, so a template for scripts that work across various protocols should be recommended. The dashboard of OpenText Business Process Monitoring is good enough, but in my operational environment, it is not sufficient. Therefore, I have had to customize everything beyond the package, utilizing Prometheus and Grafana to render more dashboards.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Collaboration: Shares data and dashboards across teams."
"The dashboards are the most valuable features."
"The most important feature of Grafana is its alarm formatting capability."
"Plugin: Connecting Grafana to multiple APIs of leading monitoring tools and alerting tools."
"Visualisation: It is easy to create beautiful, understanding graphs, snapshots to share the graphs with people who do not have access to Grafana, and templating to create powerful graphs."
"Grafana is able to connect with multiple data sources, unlike Elasticsearch."
"This solution provides valuable insights into the health of our infrastructure in real time."
"The installation process is easy. We have deployed it on the cloud. I have around 20 to 30 people using the solution in my company."
"The main benefits of using OpenText Business Process Monitoring for my company include anomaly detection and proactive analysis, which enhance our monitoring capabilities."
"The tool team was sort of aware of those tools to deal with. And, that helped us to deliver the project on time."
"The stability has been very good over the years."
"Automates processes and allows reports and statistics to improve the speed at which changes and assets are managed."

Cons

"The solution should include online support."
"We need different kinds of applications in our infrastructure to see information in Grafana."
"Lacks in-depth graphs and sufficient AI."
"There are some areas of network drives that are not showing as expected based on server usage."
"All the features are complicated."
"One area for improvement in Grafana is that depending on your version, you have to pay for the features, making the license expensive. It would be great if the licensing model could be more flexible. In the next release of Grafana, I want cluster creation to be available, which would help in Grafana deployment and scaling. Currently, the scaling process for the solution is a bit complicated."
"The technical support has room for improvement."
"In assessing Grafana's scalability, we started noticing logs missing or metrics not syncing in time, which indicated a bottleneck that we had to address by updating the infrastructure."
"Product documentation is lacking, and sometimes, incorrect. Having better documentation will allow business analysts and data center personnel to rely on the Micro Focus help desk less."
"Improvements can be made to OpenText Business Process Monitoring, especially since we have faced issues with protocol support and creating scripts in past implementations."
"The solution should offer better integration with other tools from a service management perspective."
"It doesn't have SNMP, the standard communication protocol for sending alerts."
