Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The deduplication is probably the most valuable feature of that requirement.""The solution is easy to use, flexible and has a lot of out-of-the-box functionality. You can configure the dashboards or you can use a script. However, to fully utilize its capabilities you will want to use a lot of scripts which you will need advanced training. The reports can be customized for many things, such as chargeback billing.""This is a stable solution.""It generates very detailed reports, which makes things easier when it comes to IT auditing.""It has a lot of stock reports. I believe over 300 canned reports, which for the most part meet a lot of generic needs."

"The solution just works consistently. I never have issues with it.""Veeam Backup Replication's snapshotting and cloning are the most valuable features.""This product is user-friendly. The interface is easy to use.""Its simplicity and the fact that it just works are most valuable. We kind of set it up and generally forget about it. It does what we need it to do in the background, and it doesn't involve a lot of management.""The granular restoration that it provides for a business application is most valuable. For example, for Exchange, we can restore a single mailbox or email. We can also do SQL Server restoration and bare-metal recovery for operating systems.""The most valuable features of Veeam Backup Replication are ease of use, dashboards, and reporting.""I like how Veeam intuitively integrates with Zerto.""It's relatively easy to use and the ability to recover in a short period of time has been great."

Cons
"There is a steep learning curve to use the interface and to create new reports, this could be made easier. If the solution could provide more drag and drop functionality to build more advanced reports that would be very helpful.""They should empower their customers with the ability to upgrade this solution as long as it's in the same major release.""It's a bit difficult for first-time users.""The functionality of the Data Protection Advisor is limited and is something that is lacking in this solution. Other solutions like CloudIQ and DDMC provide a much better outlook on how data protection should be done.""It is difficult to manage the solution with the available tools. You need to know exactly what are you are doing."

More Dell Data Protection Advisor Cons →

"Its native capability for talking to the public cloud needs improvement. Connecting to a public cloud is a little bit more of a challenge when it comes to Veeam than it is with Rubrik or Commvault. There are still some hoops that you got to jump through in order to send Veeam backups out to public cloud repositories. It is not as simple as it is with other products.""They need a better solution for backend storage.""There should be better use of the external hard drives.""It is always nice to get products cheaper.""I have issues with the licensing.""I only ever found one error. It was when we were doing a file copy job. After using it for ten minutes, it would slow down and cause a bottleneck error.""I would like to see the licensing model improved. They have recently changed the model and have made it more complicated.""Even though the speed has improved over the years, I think that there are some instances where it still takes a while."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's not very expensive — I think the price is fair."
  • "You have to procure the license when you are ordering or quoting for Dell Data Protection Suite (DPS). DPS is bundled with the suite and comes with a license. However, if you purchase NetWorker separately then you will have to procure the license for DPS separately."
  • "For pricing, I would rate Dell 2 out of 5. It's affordable."

  • "Veeam Backup and Replication is a cost-effective solution"
  • "Our licensing fees are paid yearly and the cost is about $12,000 Swiss Francs ($17,400 USD)."
  • "This product is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost."
  • "This is not an expensive solution. It's on the cheaper side."
