Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like Collibra's flexibility. I like to be able to modify things for our own use. For example, we've chosen to use Collibra also as a knowledge management tool, even though it is not designed to be a knowledge management tool. That's the beauty of it. It can serve as a knowledge management tool by creating some custom assets specifically for knowledge management.""It is user-friendly.""It's incredibly easy to use.""The ability to collaborate and approve business terms for the business glossary data dictionary is excellent.""This solution is user friendly and offers multiple functionalities. It operates like a kind of a repository that allows you to find anything about a particular data set or field.""Collibra is very good at talking to modern database systems like a normal RDBMS, a DB2, or a SQL server or an Oracle.""The automation process is very strong.""In terms of data governance, as I mentioned, it can be a one-stop solution for all of your data governance needs."

More Collibra Governance Pros →

"It's helpful in integration, and it can be moved around in SharePoint. So, from the SharePoint View, data integration and reporting, it help a lot in that way.""The tool's most valuable feature is bulk upload. We upload files in CSV or Excel format.""You can extract and transfer your data as you wish it to be consumed later.""Axon does one interesting thing that I don't think other tools do as well. It lets you rate data and incorporates Informatica's data quality feature into it. There are little indications and graphics that show you how good the data quality is, and you can drill into it to see where potential issues lie.""The features for data quality, data cataloging, and UI are excellent.""Able to customize data search and data sharing.""The solution offers good data governance.""The best thing about Informatica Axon is that it integrates with the Electronic Data Capture and the Axon system."

Cons
"I'm fairly new to the product, however, what I generally hear from my clients is that the requirement around having ways to ingest more metadata.""We are not able to ingest all the data in Collibra, and that's why we cannot do element-to-element level data tracking.""When we are doing discovery for unstructured data sources, I would suggest a quality report of the data that would indicate what was unable to process.""What I use it for is fairly rudimentary, and I don't have any complaints about it. I haven't tried to stretch the boundaries at all, but it would be nice if there were capabilities built within the system to somehow help enforce the quality and consistency across related elements that are built in the catalog. It could have intelligent capabilities built in to help maintain the quality of the data and information, such as natural language processing, machine learning, and so on.""It should have more integrations with things like CyberArk because its main purpose is GDPR implementation. We have to have more scope for things that implement more privacy. CyberArk makes sure your credentials are vaulted and your things are secure when you're creating your integrations or connecting to an application. I do believe that they are working on this feature.""The price of Collibra Governance could improve.""There are a lot of gaps in Collibra's support and documentation.""No easy way to connect to different data sources."

More Collibra Governance Cons →

"The solution still is a bit manual in its functionality. We want t to be more automation-driven.""It would be great if the cloud version could match the full range of capabilities available on-premise.""The stability and the integration of the solution have room for improvement.""I would like to see more API integration to have the capability to build a report using other third party reporting tools to streamline the operation.""Some functionalities can be a challenge in the cloud.""The on-prem version's functionalities may not be available on the cloud version.""The cloud version of Axon is far behind the on-prem, and many of my clients want to go fully to the cloud. However, Axon has to be an on-prem installation. I would like to see their cloud products catch up with their on-prem capabilities.""The main issue probably has nothing to do with end users, but installation can definitely be simplified."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
  • "I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
  • "I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
  • "I would say it's probably in line with what other vendors charge for licensing."
  • "It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
  • "There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
  • "Collibra Governance is expensive - I would rate its pricing as one out of five."
  • "Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
  • More Collibra Governance Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "You can purchase licenses for this solution at different intervals. For example, annually or every three years. They recently changed their terms for licensing and now it is more flexible."
  • "Pricing is determined by the number of licensed users as well as the number of Core CPUs."
  • "A yearly subscription is paid based on the number of people using the solution. Price-wise, it falls under the medium range since it is neither very costly nor too cheap."
  • "The price is neither too high nor too low."
  • "Informatica Axon is a costly solution. I rate Informatica Axon a four out of ten for its pricing."
  • "Informatica Axon is expensive."
  • "The licensing price of the product depends on the organization's requirements."
  • "We saw an ROI. We have been able to get data from various sources and consolidate it into a data lake, which is helping us in data analytics."

    Reviews from Real Users:

A Consulting Associate at a consultancy says, “Axon does one interesting thing that I don't think other tools do as well. It lets you rate data and incorporates Informatica's data quality feature into it. There are little indications and graphics that show you how good the data quality is, and you can drill into it to see where potential issues lie. Users can comment on the data, tag people, and ask questions or rate the data one to five based on their experience, which helps eliminate data silos. You have all your information right there, and it's easier for future users to know which data to draw from.”

A Data Architect at a retailer writes, “Everyone in the organization can view what is actually happening and what they could benefit from it. That's how collaborative data governance comes into the picture with Axon. It has got nice integrated quality dashboards as well.”
