Has enabled centralized user management and improved wireless access point aggregation
To improve Cisco Wireless, the ports on the access points are all 100 Meg, not 1 gig. We have not gotten a gigabyte interface of about 1,000, but the controller we have is just 1 gig. We would prefer if we could increase the controller to a 10 gig interface because we want to connect our controller to a 10 gig interface, which currently limits us to 1 gig. When we want to move higher capacity data via wireless, it limits us to 1 gig.

AI-driven optimization enhances network management and reduces hardware needs
In my region, access to the product is very difficult and presents a logistical nightmare. Also, pricing is a big problem and a barrier to entry when selling Juniper against competitors. Furthermore, the knowledge of the product's capabilities is not understood properly by those selling it, leading to overselling and overquoting.

Reliable wireless coverage has supported busy operations and has improved daily connectivity
We have areas that are interference-prone. I am not using BeamFlex technology with Ruckus Wireless. We are satisfied, but there are some problems in the current Ruckus Wireless solution that we could not solve two years ago, and we are still waiting for a solution. These are lateral management problems, and we solved them with another type of tools. However, I do not know if the new versions of the product have resolved that issue. We had approximately 150 access points at that time, so we had many points to change. We had another solution five years ago, and we changed all the access points to Ruckus Wireless solution as well as the Ruckus Wireless platform to manage all the access points.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution is extremely scalable."
"Setting up Cisco Wireless is pretty straightforward. It takes about an hour or two, and we can handle it in-house. To deploy one project, it takes two to three for a single controller."
"It allows us to reduce the cost of cabling and provides mobility of users within the organization."
"Technical support is great. One time, we had a controller issue due to a hardware failure and they replaced it within two days."
"Security is an important feature for my customers, and I am able to offer this to them with our Cisco products."
"The configuration is simple; the controllers are reliable, and the support is second to none, and the system works for us."
"The controller has a built in best practice analysis engine that will not only give your setup a best practice score, but also automatically change settings to increase the score."
"Our customers use Cisco Wireless for networking and WiFi."
"The installation process is very easy."
"It is a very stable solution."
"It is a very, very scalable solution and also has very, very good and very powerful programmability and open API interfaces."
"The Artificial Intelligence on offer is very useful."
"Juniper Wireless is reasonable, with a bit of complexity compared to Alibaba and SQL."
"It prevents a large number of unauthorized modifications of access point devices."
"Allows end users to roam the office and be productive wireless without being plugged into an Ethernet cable."
"There weren't any scalability issues, the product did what it had to do."
"With Ruckus, on the other hand, it is a really robust technology and the coverage it provides is helpful during deployment."
"This is a very stable product; when I install it, I do almost zero troubleshooting for a year or more, especially with hospitality, and once it is set up, it needs minimum maintenance and support."
"In my experience, Ruckus devices are much more reliable than other vendors when it comes to consistency, coverage, and client density, and Ruckus is very simple to configure and troubleshoot."
"They are providing greater flexibility alongside the best scalability."
"The product is excellent, the support is very good, the hardware is good, and the software powering the hardware is also very good."
"In head to head competition, Ruckus far outshines them 10 to one."
"I find signal combining and team forming in Ruckus Wireless most valuable."
"Ruckus, as a company, offers an absolute good product."

Cons

"Right now it just seems like it doesn't have enough power."
"The monitoring system has room for improvement. All the pieces of data are collected but it is not always easy or possible to present it the way you like it."
"Requires a firewall body to improve security."
"The solution doesn't have much coverage area."
"The product’s interface must be improved."
"The main concern is the length and overlapping. We have to put on four to six access points on the same floor, and we face the issue of overlapping areas. If Cisco can extend the range of their indoor APs, we would need to install just one or two access points, and it would eliminate the problem of the overlapping area."
"At this time, I feel that setting up these products is complex and difficult for customers to understand."
"There should be an option for a wireless bridge that can be used to join two access points."
"Juniper WLC Series has certain shortcomings in traffic monitoring."
"WLCv was a product at the being of its evolution, so there was room for improvement there."
"There could be a high level of security."
"The network coverage of Juniper WLC Series and Cisco is different. We need to add additional access points."
"We would prefer it if the solution could be less expensive."
"The support on offer to other vendors switching - like Aruba or Ruckus - could be improved."
"The solution should create configuration documentation."
"The solution could offer more integration with other products."
"Technical support has been really bad since Ruckus was acquired by another company."
"The cost could be slightly improved. It's not on the low end, and it's not in the high end. It's in that middle area, which can be a deciding factor between someone going with this solution versus another one."
"APs should be more adaptable to denser client regions and, most important, the logs on the ZoneDirector should be classified into groups, such as type of logs and alerts."
"In my company, we still has to do some manual calculations on where we should set the access points, which is a time-consuming process as there were no automatic setup functions provided by the tool."
"They can improve the cloud portion. Other vendors have a cloud controller, and they can provide the same so that we can see everything."
"Sometimes when there's a load of work, even within the range of the concurrent users, we feel that the system is burdened and slows down."
"The cost must be reduced."
"The current reporting is limited to 30 days, and it would be helpful if there was an option to extend it to one year."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Users have to pay a yearly licensing fee for Cisco Wireless."
"We are on an annual license. The license and the hardware are expensive."
"However, when you integrate the access point and the controller with the DNAT across multiple sites, you need a DNAT cluster, which is a costly solution. Every site has a controller, and a DNAT cluster is not a good option in a global framework. It's okay for a small office or a few offices. But when you're talking about 500 offices, the cost becomes enormous."
"The license is a one-time purchase."
"We opt for a one-time purchasing fee model in our setup. Since we don't utilize a management platform or WLAN controller, there are no recurring costs. The access points we typically use, which support Cisco's wireless masters, are priced at around $250 each. Occasionally, we purchase them in packs of five or as part of extended packs at a prorated cost."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Cisco Wireless solutions should have a price reduction for educations centers. Education centers are there to help people grow and there are not large budgets. The solution tends to be expensive and it can cause difficulties when purchasing them here in Africa."
"The solution is a little expensive compared to other brands."
"Juniper WLC Series is a bit pricey but worth its cost."
"The licensing cost is quite high, but considering it's an enterprise solution, the complexity justifies the price."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable."
"The product is relatively affordable for enterprise companies."
"There is a certain amount that needs to be paid towards the licensing charges associated with the product, but though I am not sure, I feel the licenses that we have in our company are for three years."
"The pricing is the biggest issue with Ruckus wireless. It's so expensive, but Ruckus are just the best."
"The price is reasonable."
"With Ubiquiti, there's no annual cost to keep the software upgraded, whereas with Ruckus, you have to pay an annual fee or three-year fee. That makes it a little more pricey."
"Ruckus Wireless is available at a reasonable price"
"I would rate their pricing 3 out of 5. There is no annual licensing cost."
"The price of Ruckus Wireless is more expensive than other options."
"The tool’s pricing is competitive with other alternative solutions’ pricing."
"Cost-wise, the product is priced above average, considering its competitors in the market."
