We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The integration of network and workload micro-segmentation helps a lot to provide unified segmentation policies across east-west and north-south traffic. One concrete example is with Cisco ACI for the data center. Not only are we doing what is called a service graph on the ACI to make sure that we can filter traffic east-west between two endpoints in the same network, but when we go north-south or east-west, we can then leverage what we have on the network with SGTs on Cisco ISE. Once you build your matrix, it is very easy to filter in and out on east-west or north-south traffic.""It's got the capabilities of amassing a lot of throughput with remote access and VPNs.""Another benefit has been user integration. We try to integrate our policies so that we can create policies based on active users. We can create policies based on who is accessing a resource instead of just IP addresses and ports.""A good intrusion prevention system and filtering.""Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches.""The implementation is pretty straightforward.""You do not have to do everything through a command line which makes it a lot easier to apply rules.""Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be."

"The user interface is very good.""I have found configuring the ports to be easier in Sophos XG compared to the other devices.""Using Sophos endpoint and the firewall, synchronized security is easy.""Compared to other firewalls that I had looked at, I thought Sophos was the better solution. It just seems to be easier to manage versus Cisco, Fortinet, or one of the other options I was looking at.""The simplicity of the setup is the most valuable feature.""It is stable, flexible, and easy to use. It has got a web management portal that can be accessed from anywhere.""The VPN feature is the most valuable. It has come in handy during this period when people are working from home. The filtering feature is also valuable because you can easily filter the sites that you don't want to visit. You can also set timely surfing quotas.""Orchestration of the firewall is the most valuable feature. It is a fast and agile solution. It is good with protection. It is also very easy to deploy and manage, and its user interface is easy to use."

Cons
"Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall can be more secure.""Its interface is sometimes is a little bit slow, and it can be improved. When you need to put your appliance in failover mode, it is a little difficult to do it remotely because you need to turn off the appliance in Cisco mode. In terms of new features, it would be good to have AnyConnect VPN with Firepower. I am not sure if it is available at the moment.""The initial setup can be a bit complex for those unfamiliar with the solution.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""The performance should be improved.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore."

"The solution is tied to the US dollar. You need to pay whatever the equivalent is in your own currency, and, if the exchange is bad, it can really add to the cost.""The SD-WAN could be improved.""The pricing can be high unless you choose a longer contract.""The reporting could be improved in this solution by adding more details.""Support could be improved.""Recently, I've had a problem with updating things.""The solution could be improved if it offered more documentation or at least provided more information about the products themselves.""Technical support is difficult to access."
