Affordable, easy to use, and offers good pricing
The solution is primarily used for the backup of the endpoints within our organization The solution has been very stable. It's quite easy to use and simple to navigate around. The performance has always been very good.  The pricing of the product is excellent. I wouldn't describe it as a…

Has supported flexible multi-platform backups and improved over time
Regarding the effectiveness of Dell NetWorker in terms of role-based access controls, I have experience with it, but I find it somewhat lacking in flexibility as it offers limited features, and I would rate it around seven out of ten. It is not that there is something wrong with the role-based access controls in Dell NetWorker, but it lacks many permissions or roles to assign, providing options only for administrator or user. To improve Dell NetWorker for the next release, I recommend enhancing flexibility in the policy, allowing selection of multiple options within the same policy, and addressing issues like the DNS lookup dependency to make it more controllable from Dell NetWorker itself rather than relying on other applications. Looking forward, I would like to see improved policy features and a more enhanced GUI, as it is still slow.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloud backup is easier to manage and administer than our previous tape solution."
"It provides a secure and stable cloud backup solution."
"Asigra's agent-less capabilities make it a very convenient solution to implement."
"The Asigra product on the whole is a fantastic solution and I would highly recommend this as it delivers everything our business and our subsequent customers required."
"The solution has been very stable."
"I have found all the features useful in the solution."
"Virtual Disaster Recovery in version 13 is a game-changer, especially for VMWare shops."
"Asigra’s multi-tenancy feature is most valuable as it allows the company to on-sell a private cloud backup and recovery solution to existing customers."
"It is scalable software. All you need to increase is its RAM and CPU. It's pretty easy."
"Dell EMC NetWorker integrates well with our domain and the performance is quite good on-premise."
"The initial setup is very easy. It's incredibly fast."
"The backup capabilities and the automatization of the backup - along with the potential to make the back up on a virtual machine - are the solution's most valuable aspects."
"Dell EMC NetWorker is a complete solution, providing end-to-end, disk to disk to tape backup features, which makes it more suitable for customers here in Oman."
"Once the scheduler is configured, backups proceed without any interruption."
"When it was required that data had to be restored for our customer, it was accomplished successfully and this has kept our end users satisfied."
"The most valuable feature is NetWorker's integration with the data domain that transfers the data directly into the Dell appliance, so the data doesn't need to pass through the network. NetWorker acts like a pipe, allowing the data to flow directly from the database or the VMware environment to the data domain."

Cons

"Technical Support: 5/10, Due to different timezones it would always be difficult to get hold of a tech."
"I wouldn't describe it as a scalable solution."
"The setup and configuration of this product is quite complex."
"The UI could do with a facelift."
"They should have 24/7 support for customers in different time zones. They are slow to respond to requests, and I get the impression that the ServiceDesk is overloaded."
"Some more work on reporting tools is required to help get better auto-generated information and analysis from the system."
"The GUI isn't the slickest, because Asigra has opted to focus on features and capability over a shiny interface."
"More integration with leading storage solutions."
"I would not recommend this solution, we are switching to Veeam, and I would recommend it."
"They need more support for image backups."
"The interface is the same, so when we are trying to troubleshoot the logs, it doesn't display properly."
"The technical support was slightly impolite in my experience."
"The interface could have a different appearance."
"In older versions, the graphical user interface isn't so good."
"It is not that there is something wrong with the role-based access controls in Dell NetWorker, but it lacks many permissions or roles to assign, providing options only for administrator or user."
"The management of Dell Networker is quite cumbersome."

"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"We do need to purchase a license, but sometimes, it comes as a part of the Dell Data Protection Suite (DPS). It has a capacity-based licensing."
