Cost savings and efficient decompression but needs better cloud integration
Our primary use case for Arcserve UDP is its decompression feature, which helped us save money by reducing storage needs. Despite moving to cloud applications, we have been using Arcserve UDP for backup and disaster recovery Arcserve UDP has helped our organization save considerable amounts of…

Reliable with good support but needs a better navigation menu
We use Veeam Data to back up our VMware infrastructure Veeam Data Platform is valuable for its stability and the ability to easily contact support for assistance. The support team provides answers whenever we need them. It is also one of the most scalable backup solutions I've worked with. The…

Simplified interface with good performance but needs monitoring
I need to use PowerStore and Veritas Backup Exec. It is a direct backup to types, and it is supported by my backup. It offers good performance and stability, and it works properly. I am happy with this program. It is still working on aligning with security requirements and data encryption for Amazon or ATAC. It has a lot of functions and security measures, which ensure our backups are secure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I would recommend it if there is a general case."
"The ROI is very good because of the speed of the backup."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is live replication."
"Global deduplication is the best feature of this solution."
"Easy restoration and the solution works quickly."
"The most valuable feature of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is the speed and the compression of the backups. The compressed backed-up files do not take up as much storage. Additionally, the incremental backups can be done in one minute and be backed up on a disc very fast."
"The most valuable feature is the duplication."
"Our customers are happy with the product’s functionality."
"The solution is very easy to deploy."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"I have been in contact with technical support and they are very good."
"Veeam Data Platform manages and protects data across multiple cloud environments amazingly."
"Veeam ONE effectively centralizes the view of different tools."
"When it comes to service cases, I would choose Veeam Data Platform over Commvault because restoring from Commvault can be time-consuming due to filtering tasks. Veeam Data Platform, on the other hand, offers a much simpler and faster restore process."
"One of the most valuable features of Veeam is that the restoration is easy and reliable."
"The monthly reports come complete with graphs and summaries, it's really helpful."
"One of the valuable features is the instant recovery for VMs. It reduces the RTO (Recovery Time Objective) drastically."
"The price is one of the best."
"The solution is very fast. It does not take a long time to backup everything."
"When something goes down, and we need to restore data, the most used case is being able to restore it. Veritas Backup Exec allows you to restore down to the file level."
"The one thing for the last 12 months which has been very good for Veritas was the instance-based license. This means that you're able to license per instance, not only per physical server."
"The product's most valuable feature is scalability."
"We are happy with Veritas Backup Exec's stability."
"It is responding very well, and its performance is good. It has a lot of options. For backup, you can connect it to a cloud or a physical hard drive. They also provide an API for integration with different platforms and products. However, we have not integrated it with another product."

Cons

"The technical support of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast."
"The tool doesn't provide cloud integration in India."
"The time to backup servers that sit in DMZ must be improved."
"A lot of their new technologies are not very good."
"In the most recent version of premium plus the replication has been removed, and it should re-added to the solution."
"Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly."
"Its interface can be improved. I find it unintuitive."
"The integration with other solutions should be improved."
"We're using both Backup and Replication, Veeam Cloud Connect, and Veeam Office 365. What I am missing is a good graphical user interface between these three products."
"I have used NetBackup. For heavy workloads or if I need consistent backup and restore, I prefer NetBackup over Veeam Backup Replication."
"I cannot recall coming across any features that were lacking."
"In the next release, I would like replication directly to the cloud to be included."
"It could use DR features similar to Zerto."
"The appliance doesn't have a domain. If there was a competitor with a domain, I'd likely use them."
"During the initial setup especially, there's a bit of a learning curve."
"The price of this solution is very high."
"More stable environment in a WAN infrastructure."
"It is currently missing the dynamic backup feature for virtual machines, which is available in NetWorker. I can create politics in NetWorker to add virtual machines with specific tags, but I cannot do this in Backup Exec, which is a minus point for me. Currently, a user has to send a request to the Backup administrator to add a machine to the backup, but I should be able to create rules to automatically add a new machine to the backup. This kind of functionality is very important in current times, especially when we are using cloud solutions. I should be able to create more than one stream in a policy and specify how many streams I want to run in parallel in one policy. Currently, I have to manually create more policies to backup more than one virtual machine at the same time. Their support can also be improved in terms of response time."
"There are some issues with the Backup Exec Library and the random picking of tapes."
"We've experienced some performance issues with Backup Exec. The backup jobs take too long to complete."
"The scalability could be improved even though the solution is targeted to small customers."
"The user interface needs to be improved."
"Veritas can improve the user interface and the information displayed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In comparison to other vendors, it is a low-cost solution."
"Pricing is most likely comparable."
"We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
"The solution is priced well compared to other solutions."
"The price of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is competitive in the market."
"The solution is very expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a four or five out of ten."
"The solution is expensive."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication has been increasing their price and my customers are asking why. They have CPU-based licenses and a Universal License, the prices should be reduced."
"We pay every month for Enterprise Plus. There are no additional costs."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a nine out of ten."
"We pay yearly licensing fees for Veeam in our data centers where we're using disaster recovery and replication between our many solutions, especially cloud solutions. From the beginning, we've done our licensing from a separate channel through our data center team in Seattle."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the price a five."
"I would say that the product is fairly priced."
"The pricing is on the higher side, so I think they have to think about the price. It's a stable product and there was no requirement to keep in touch with the support team, so the renewal license was too expensive."
"It is approximately $4,000 to $5,000 for the purchase of the product and I paid an additional $2,000 for the renewal."
"It is a mid-range solution on the pricing scale."
"This product is priced for smaller customers."
"It's a good price for the product."
"If your company can afford it, go for it."
"The price of this solution is a bit high."
"I rate the price of Veritas Backup Exec a four out of five."
"We are satisfied with the price of this solution."
"The pricing of Veritas Backup's license is comparable to Veeam."
