We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its ease of integration with any upfront platform or CMS solution.""The most valuable feature in this solution I have found to be that I have the ability to find all the analytics that I need. It has very good integrations with social media platforms and other tools.""The solution's valuable features are the presentation layout and ease of use. When we have new people joining the team, it is simple for them to get involved very quickly.""Magento is very flexible, and it's one of the biggest e-commerce platforms.""The customization capabilities of Adobe Commerce are great.""The open-source PHP code allows our developers to customize pretty much anything on the platform, including allowing us to add some of the most complex shipping and inventory features for clients who have very specific, industry-related business specifications.""On the plus side, when you build everything from scratch in Magento, you can do magic with it.""We have the ability to resolve service issues since Magento enables us to invest more time in dealing with custom requirements."

"SAP Hybris Commerce is a very advanced e-commerce platform compared to other platforms such as WebSphere Commerce, Oracle Commerce, and others.""The tool has good performance.""Its dashboards, business features, and user-friendliness of a lot of business interfaces are valuable. We work on B2B projects, and it is the most efficient software solution for B2B. The B2B accelerator is very much appreciated by our customers because it has some use cases that are ready for production. For some projects, we proposed the SAP Hybris solution because it was sufficient for use cases related to product management and data quality. With other e-commerce platforms, we would have needed integration with another product information management software.""Hybris offers a platform designed for speed.""SAP Hybris provides us with all of the e-commerce features that a client could need.""We like that this solution gives our B2B clients a lot of functionality straight 'out of the box', meaning that they don't need to carry out a lot of configuration to be able to use it.""I chose this out-of-box E-Commerce solution because it helps you start up your E-Commerce business in a very good amount of time since Hybris already provides you the end-to-end flow with minimum customization. You can quickly go live with the customer.""We have found the B2B, B2C and D2C very valuable."

Cons
"Magneto is monolithic in character, making it difficult for us to scale up very high quickly on the content side.""The data analysis could be improved. The data that you receive whenever you go into the backend of the platform for the analysis is very simple and basic, it could be a little more sophisticated in order to be closer to the client. The data analysis and intelligence of the platform could be better.""More technical knowledge is required to keep a Magento website running smoothly compared to many other platforms like OpenCart.""The industry has evolved, and the main focus is composable solutions because of which now SAP and Magento are forced to tackle various aspects of commerce, including commerce tools and pricing strategies, among other things.""The performance is a bottleneck in Magento and there is a lot of room for improvement in this regard.""The hardware requirements of the tool should be made better, as it is a solution that is very heavy on the servers, and it makes it expensive to host many servers.""One significant drawback of Commerce is its substantial size, which allows for extensive customization but also elongates the development process for an e-commerce website.""I am still playing around and trying to catch up with the latest version to understand all the features, but I do feel that its CMS can be much more streamlined. They provide a what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor, which many customers prefer, but based on the implementations that I have done for more than seven years, I have seen that many times, it is run by the marketing team, and they don't find it very comfortable to use. They feel uncomfortable managing and changing the content. As a business user, you need to have at least basic knowledge of HTML, which you cannot expect from all marketing teams. Some companies or organizations have that competency, but many organizations, especially in the Middle East, have a very small team, so it becomes quite difficult for them. This is a common challenge that I have seen across the platforms. Magento is better and easier than Oracle Commerce Cloud, but Shopify is much easier than Magento. A layman or my 10-year-old kid can go ahead and set up a store in Shopify in probably 45 minutes, which is not the case with Magento. Elasticsearch has really been a pain. It takes a toll on the performance. Starting with version 2.4, Magento requires Elasticsearch, which has been causing a lot of serious performance issues. We had a client in the US who was running a promo, and they lost a subsequent number of orders over one and a half hours. They were on the enterprise platform, not open-source. The team had to open a ticket with Magento. Its performance needs to be upgraded, or some kind of guidelines have to be provided for the setup. It looks like even Magento has no clue. When you go through the answers given in the online community, it seems that in spite of having the hardware configurations that they suggest, it is not performing at the optimal level. It should also have a better way to measure performance. Performance measuring has to be much easier. Many times, we see CPU utilization going up and down. We see spikes without any reason. Therefore, we need a better performance management system."

"We would like to be able to easily add functionality to the CMS, such as instant messaging. This would make is much more usable, especially in B2C scenarios.""The solution is complex due to the rapid development of new features in SAP Commerce, which requires the changing of older technologies and migration to new ones.""It is very expensive to implement, which is why many companies who can't afford would normally move to Salesforce or Magento.""They have just started to work with the cloud, but they only support Microsoft Azure.""Like every other SAP solution, it is very heavy. Also, the transition to the cloud is not very smooth because it is not really a SaaS solution. The upgrades are also not as smooth as you would expect from a complete cloud solution. It should have a product recommendation feature as well as a promotional feature. It should also have more personalizations.""The learning curve is high.""In terms of what could be improved, I would say the product search. There will be multiple criteria to search products and there will be a number of products in different categories. The question is how soon can I find the product which I'm looking for. The search can be improved.""They could include additional types of payment implementations. Right now they are just providing CyberSourse."

  • "Many implementations were open-source. We also had a couple of enterprise-level implementations, but I didn't have visibility on the licensing cost."
