Unified commerce platform has streamlined direct sales and integrated promotions and billing
One of the most valuable features in Salesforce Commerce Cloud is that it helps me avoid storing credit card information, with a vault function taken care of. Salesforce provides this vault feature, enabling me to bill my D2C customers directly and also feeding data into my Marketing Cloud and Services Cloud. For visibility features in Salesforce Commerce Cloud, I might need to schedule a separate meeting as I can only share certain levels of information. Experience-wise, it is very good; the platform helps identify promotional opportunities and integrates well with Salesforce's Trade Promotion Management. The main benefits Salesforce Commerce Cloud provides are significant process improvements. If we did not have it, I would need to establish a separate D2C portal such as Magento Commerce and integrate with Salesforce for some data. Having Salesforce Commerce Cloud is essential as it integrates very quickly and is part of the entire ecosystem.

Platform has supported global rollouts and has delivered faster, more reliable commerce journeys
In my view, SAP Commerce Cloud can be improved as it currently feels too heavy, with customers nowadays expecting solutions to be deployed in months rather than years. This is the most significant issue with SAP Commerce Cloud, which caters primarily to Fortune 500 companies and falls short for mid-sized businesses. I do not have a clear idea on which specific feature they should implement to better serve the smaller business market, despite their several past attempts. Regarding potential improvements for SAP Commerce Cloud, I am not the best person to discuss deployments as I lack a DevOps background. However, I believe the primary enhancement should be in their vision and communication of product benefits. Personally, I have found SAP salespeople to be less friendly compared to their Salesforce counterparts. Their inflexibility regarding discounts and offers might be an area for improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The conversion of opportunities and leads to accounts is one of the most valuable features."
"Salesforce Commerce Cloud offers effective architecture, ease of integration with third-party systems, and environments to test web store functionalities."
"Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the best option for enterprise customers."
"The main functionality I find valuable in Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the fact that it shares the same database as Service and Sales Cloud, which allows me to develop more quickly in terms of integration, because I already have all the accounts, contacts, leads, sales, and invoice data already on one platform, so I don't need to have many more integrations if I already have Salesforce as the core."
"Ability to quickly add content and manage products along with associated web content easily."
"Salesforce offers the best features and functionality, which are developed and refined over many years to provide a highly customized e-commerce experience."
"Demandware is at the top of the list when it comes to a SaaS-model e-Commerce solution for its ease of use, low start-up costs (compared to an on-premise solution) and scalability."
"The most valuable feature of Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the frequent updates. There will be a significant increase in the look and feel. You will be using the solution and think you might want a new feature to be added and then when they release the next release it is there. There are constantly improving the solution."
"I chose this out-of-box E-Commerce solution because it helps you start up your E-Commerce business in a very good amount of time since Hybris already provides you the end-to-end flow with minimum customization. You can quickly go live with the customer."
"In one week, we can build a complete e-commerce solution."
"It's the best tool on the market and is a complete e-commerce system for product management. For instance, if the customer has a log enterprise level product, they can manage it here."
"It's a good product in terms of scalability, functionality, and flexibility."
"We like that this solution gives our B2B clients a lot of functionality straight 'out of the box', meaning that they don't need to carry out a lot of configuration to be able to use it."
"The tool supports multiple currencies."
"The tool has good performance."
"If you have a client and they want to have an e-commerce project that is based on solid principles, you don't need too much time to develop it."

Cons

"One of the main points for improvement right now is still the user interface, the front end of Salesforce, because I only have one layout theme, which is the main B2B Commerce layout, while different vendors and competitors have multiple themes to choose from when implementing an e-commerce portal, so this is one of the main pain points for me."
"Being able to customize everything in general to our specific needs would be pretty awesome."
"If you have followed the best practices you will not have a problem, however you are allowed to change the caching for different pages and that may cause a lot of problems with the performance."
"Salesforce Commerce Cloud should integrate more seamlessly with various systems, providing full order tracking from entry to delivery."
"In the next release, Commerce Cloud should add CRM dashboards."
"The back office of Salesforce could be more user-friendly."
"Salesforce's technical support is not as good as Elastic Path."
"Commerce Cloud is not cheap. You will not find a cost-effective solution with official systems integrators."
"A public cloud solution of this software would open great possibilities."
"SAP Hybris does not employ the latest technologies. For example, they still use GSP, Tag Files, an older version of Java, no microservices, and no Amazon Web Services."
"The learning curve is high."
"We would like to be able to easily add functionality to the CMS, such as instant messaging. This would make is much more usable, especially in B2C scenarios."
"Sometimes it's slow in accessing products. Also IMPEX upload was complex."
"The product should be accessible to all types of customer, not just the big ones."
"Like every other SAP solution, it is very heavy."
"Like every other SAP solution, it is very heavy. Also, the transition to the cloud is not very smooth because it is not really a SaaS solution. The upgrades are also not as smooth as you would expect from a complete cloud solution. It should have a product recommendation feature as well as a promotional feature. It should also have more personalizations."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Salesforce is not a cheap solution."
"The licensing of Salesforce Commerce Cloud is something that will depend on the customer's usability. For us as a company, we are in a position where we will be paying the premium for licensing. If we go to the customer who is seeking a B2C solution quickly, we will definitely look at the pricing when it comes to the user base and receive good discounts. Discount is something that depends on the volume and that is where we need to work on. It is a little sensitive market when it comes to licensing procurement. There are some good competitors."
"Initially when we installed Salesforce, we thought that it was a bit pricey, but I think for the value that we're getting, it’s suitable."
"The product is expensive."
"I give the price of the solution a three out of ten."
"The licensing works on a per-user basis."
"There are no significant upfront license costs."
"The pricing is fairly reasonable."
"SAP Hybris is expensive, which is why only the large clients use it. At the same time, I think that the return on investment warrants it."
"The product is expensive. I would rate its price a seven out of ten. The solution's licensing is yearly."
"The price is quite high."
"The price is too high."
"The solution is very expensive in Turkey."
"The solution is expensive."
"This is an expensive solution."
"I don't know the cost, but it can be expensive."
